i became a fan of lovecraft recently, but english isnt my first language, so i got a little problem to understand what theyre actually talking about. man, thats sucks
Probably one of the better adaptations of Lovecraft I've seen. I would have liked to see a recreation of Pickman's cellar studio but I would guess the budget was probably limited. Still very interesting way to photograph two people having a conversation. If you haven't already heard about the Lovecraft Literary podcast, the hosts did an episode on "Pickman's Model" with an amazingly effective reading by Chris Weitz (the director of "American Pie" and "Twilight: New Moon" surprisingly).
Pretty good. So far though, I don't think anyone's gotten the inherent humour of the "Rat Scene" quite right though. Then again, yours is based as a two person conversation anyways.
@bar1scorpio LOL I kinda got the jist of that joke considering that it shouldn't take 6 rapid fire shots from a revolver to take down one. Still love readint this story!!
Great--thank you! My son in unfamiliar with Lovecraft: I'm going to show this to him. I'm pretty sure afterwards he'll want to...devour...the rest of the stories.
i like yours i made my own version of this story i hope u can watc it and give me an opinion u can find it by the name "el modelo de pickman parte 1" here on youtube
I must say that this story was pulled off very well. The acting was great and the black and white added atmosphere. I am a picky critic but I must say you delivered. Good Job.
Actually gave me chills. hahah, I love this story, my favorite of all his works. Nice adaptation, VERY dramatic lighting, a little audio hiss but im not complaining. bravo
Bravo. Very well done indeed. Amazing that you captured the essence of this (and my favorite Lovecraft story) in just under six and a half minutes- including a number of key lines.
...'but,by God, Eliot, it was a photograph from life'...... love it!
I just wanted to say thank you to the kind words my little film has recieved. I've spend many long nights contemplating how best to tell a Lovecraft story on film. I'm glad to see that fruits of those nights are appreciated by other fans of H.P.L. If any of you have questions regarding the film or its making just shoot me a message and I'll be glad to answer as best I can.
What a great way to tell this great story! As in the original, it's the guy telling his buddy what happened. Wish old H.P.L. had lived to know of his renown, he's my favorite author.
Now THIS I like, that seems to me to be inthe spirit of Lovecrafts storys, not like the true horror of a movie "Cthulhu"... Mind a horro fo a mive, not a horro movie. This i like very much indeed.

This shows how beautifully simple such a story can be told, and still be compelling.

i love this story! And you got the feel right. maybe a bit more sanity-shatter would have given it the final touch. But still really nice.

When I read this, I kinda knew it would make a decent horror movie. Or at least a Twilight Zone.

Why are they talking like that???

I love the lighting in this.
Needed a hint of the monster, though. A sound, a flash, anything beyond talking heads.
But that's just my thought.
