  • I just want to thank you! You have taught me everything I know about crocheting you rock!!

  • Your hand movements are so swift and casual; it's hard to follow what you do sometimes.

  • I use bigger crochet hook baceause its faster :P

  • @tjw1963 so far so good! my hat is going really well! all the other tutorials from different people never helped..;D

  • @kairitootie25 Im 12 years old

  • Could you make this hat using double crochet? If so do i have to convert anything other than the stitch itself?

  • Where is part 2? I don't see it in the video responses?

  • Hello Theresa! Love all your videos im been crocheing since a little :) love the beanie hars but where can i see the end of the video?

    Tks do much!!!

  • I was wondering if maybe you could do this tutorial in a lighter color please? And be a little bit more clear on your captions at the bottom would be much appreciated. Thank you! Love your videos!

    -Crocheter for 5 years Becca

  • my 8th grade teacher taught the class to crochet. i spent 3 yrs NOT doing it so i forgot how to do beanies but im quite good at scarves, wristbands, headbands, and a lapwarmer i made for my grandmother. i am following your pattern nicely but am using double crochet instead. im hoping it will turn out just the same. thank you for putting this video up :) im terrible at following written instructions cuz of the abbreviations

  • I keep ending up with 55 stitches in round 5, not 50 as instructed. I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. Row 4, I do end with 40 stitches. HELP! ty

  • I am just a beginner and am not sure what hole you r punching and pulling though. On the first round I understand u work through the chain links but after that there are so Many loops to use. Can any one throw me a bone?

  • I don't have the patients to keep going after the third row -___-

  • Dear tjw1963, I am in my last year of high school in the next year and I was wondering if you could make this pattern from this image > worldwidehat(DOT)com/chic-fashionable-crochet-beanie-knit-be458g-p-1416.html that my friends just saw and want me to make her that beanie in crochet before Christmas break but I can not seem to find that pattern for it. So will it be kind if you try make this pattern for me, if so Thank you and replay as soon as possible for you before the Christmas break

  • I already crocheted one hat but its rather tight, how do i make it looser?

  • This helped so much thank you!

  • What is the age group of the people doing this?

  • @jadevergara I have had some moms comment that they are teaching their 8-10 year olds to crochet. There are a lot of young kids that love to crochet.

  • @jadevergara I am teaching my 6,8,14 year old daughters. Love it!

  • @jadevergara well i am a 20 year old male (not gay) and i am learning how to crochet my own beanies. there my fav hats so why not right sure beats buying them :)

  • I cnt find part 2

  • i actually finished a hat using ur tutorial and it looks really good, the only problems i have are the top of the hat kind of became flat instead of a circular top, and also it stretches out well but it doesnt regain its shape, like it stays stretched out, is there a way to add something at the end like a different stitch to keep it from getting too loose?

  • I got why I was makin the bowl, I didnt pay attention to the "increase for each SC"!!! Teehe! so excited!

  • Hi Im hearing impaired and was having difficulty trying to read the captions even I'm sure it didnt follow everything that is said in the video. Every time I crochet to the 2 or 3 rnd, it folds into like a bowl and I get frustrated and tried to loosen them up so i can make it flat like it's showing in your video. i keep losing track because I was watching your work and the caption and tryin to do mine at the same time trying to follow you.. HELP! Ur work is amazing but I cant keep up :(.

  • @MamaOf3Pinks Most likely you are missing the increase stitches since it is folding up to soon. If you open the video details below the video, you will see a link to the written instructions.

  • @tjw1963 yeah actually im totally stuck when we get to the loop please help

  • @MELanneJOHN You are welcome. Please share a video response or pictures on Google+ and Facebook when you get your work complete.

  • it dosent look like there is a difference between the single crochet and and the 2 single chrochet

  • @skyelovesicp If you are referring to the increase, you are working 2 stitches in the same stitch. It may look like one stitch so it is important to count to make sure your count is close. You could end up with a cap that turns out to small if you miss to many stitches.

  • I just started crocheting and so proud of the things I've completed. My son wants a beanie hat and scarf set (camouflage pattern). Can you send me the beginners playlist please. Thank you. Your videos are so easy to follow.

  • @crystalbp1 The beginner playlist has been sent.

  • Found part 2 lol forgive me :/ haha

  • How do I finish the hat?! I'm confused as to why it ends there :S

  • me and my friend are starting a clothing company and we want to sell these as one of our major items along with shirts, glasses, stickers, and socks. is there anyway someone new to this can pick it up fast? if so please explain crochet for dummies. thanks

  • everytime i made this beanie it came out to be a baby beanie because it was so little. so instead of doing the dingle crochet after the rounda i did double crochets and it made it bigger. I relaly like this cideo though it helps me understand patterns and you go at a perfect pace. thanks for sharing:)

  • I just learned to crochet last week and i love it, its lots of fun, i think im going to try this hat after i finish my scarf!

  • Would you please show me how to crochet a dog sweater for a mini schnauzer!

I can't find anyone as good as you on the web. You are the best!!! Thanks, Kristi

  • Thank you so much tjw1963! It took me a minute but I'm almost done with my hat! :)

  • how do you keep track of when you finish a round without counting? I'm having a hard time telling

  • @LivonIsMe You can use a yarn marker, which is nothing more that a scrap piece of yarn.

  • @tjw1963 thank you! Also, My hat came out way too small to fit on my head. How would I be able to make it bigger? Do I just add another row of the doubles every third and then do regular singles all the way through till the end of the hat?

Also, how important is it to close off at the end of each round? (sorry for all the questions x.x)

  • Would you please send me the beginner crochet playlist please? Thank you in advance if you can.

  • @tinkrbl13 I have sent you the beginner playlist.

  • I'm having a really difficult time keeping my yarn straight, it keeps wanting to turn up like a bowl instead of laying flat like yours. Do you have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

  • @terramaton You are probably missing the increase stitches. That is working the two stitches in the same stitch so the crown continues to expand in size. Count your stitches on each round to make sure they match.

  • hi do you have a tutorial on how to do a dog beanie for a child?

  • Thank you so much for this posting this video! I tried a couple of other vids, but I just didn't end up with a beanie. Now I've finished my own by following your video and I'm so happy with it! It even motivated me to make another, so I really appreciate you've taken the time to show how to make a beanie.

  • Can you send me the beginners play-list as well please please? >.<

  • should have used a piece of yarn as a marker to show the beginning of a new row, Then maybe people wouldn't get lost.

  • @tjw1963 can you send me the beginner playlist too please ?

  • @AlienCow6991 I will send you the beginner playlist

  • I can't find part 2? :(

  • do you have a video to show how a flat cap is done? something like a beanie except that it is flat on the head and hangs loose below behind the head...

  • @komal10492 I just kept on adding rows till the top started hanging at the back of my head..

  • Yeahhhh.... I got lost in the first 10 seconds.

  • @sinfullydope101 I sent you the beginner playlist so you can become familiar with the basic crochet stitches

  • @tjw1963 me too?

  • @thecluelessone1 I am sending you the playlist

  • How do you do the kind with tassels and ears?

  • I keep trying to do this but it always turns out to be a huge ball of messy yarn. I'm a beginner though so that could be a huge part of it. Anything that could help me with this?

  • @ilovedestery69 I will send you the beginner playlist of crochet stitches. Learning the basic stitches will make it easier when trying out projects like this one.

  • My first hat I made was fine.. I used a 5.00 hook.. Now the one I am making now is a 5.5 hook and it is all wavy? I followed your video to a tee! What is going wrong?

  • @AmberBrent123 I would double check the stitch count. Maybe you worked in two many stitches on the second cap?

  • What does she mean by sewing up the top, I'm a guy and I'm just learning, I want to make my own winter cap

  • @1k59j1 Sometimes at the beginning of the cap, there may be a slight hole. Most likely you will not want a hole there, so you sew the top of the cap shut. Get a needle and run the yarn through the stitches and pull the hole closed. You will make a couple of knots and sew the tail through the stitches to hide it on the inside of the hat. Cut off the extra yarn.

  • Thank you so so much!! I am still new to crocheting and this is the easiest pattern I have found! You rock! :)

  • @leebones88 Thank you. Great to hear that you are catching on so fast.

  • Do you have a pattern video on how to crochet a beard beanie or a viking beanie.

I would like to know how to crochet the beard and horns, If anyone does can you list it here. Thanks

  • :p

  • could you send me the beginner's playlist ? Thanks in advance ! :)

  • i was fine till i got to the single crochet. :P I ended up with a big messy ball of yarn. :P can you tell im a beginner? lol

  • @mrsharrypotterfan1 I am going to send you the basic crochet stitch playlist. Practice will help you get better.

  • When you crocheted 10, where did you put the hook through? Im a bit new

  • When you're doing the 20 sc where are you sticking it through?

  • At 0:50, when you're doing the 10 sc are you going through the center of the loop?

  • could u send me the begginers crochet stich list also plz????

  • @soniahernandez2005 I have sent the beginner crochet playlist so you should have it now

  • ughhh i still dont understand..

  • @bellezzacondolore I will send you the beginner crochet stitch playlist

  • Lokks great but I don't understand how your going through the middle 10 times. I can't even see the middle after the 1st time.

  • @andiwwjd You are working around the chain, through the center. You can make the chain larger if you feel you need more room to work

  • how long does it usually take you to make one of these beanies?

  • @lunalover4ever17 The beanie will take anywhere from 1-2 hours to make. It is going to depend on how long you have been crocheting. It is not necessary to crochet fast, just try to be accurate. Everyone has their own pace. There is no right or wrong speed. I make mistakes if I try to work to fast so I like to work slower.

  • where is part 2?

  • this was so helpful!

  • How big is this hat?

  • Please can i sell this pattern?(BTW i have made 3 soon to be 4 beanies ) :)

  • @Lolzorz96 I do permit people to sell their finished work but not the video or pattern.

  • @tjw1963 Thats what i ment thank you :)

  • On 4:20 when you said you would increase by 2 in the same... Did you mean that you do 4? I'm completely lost

  • @MsNurseBelle You will increase by 2 single crochet in the same stitch.

  • instead of sewing up the hole at the top, i made a cute pompom and sewed it down :) <3

  • @TheNerdgirl13 That is a great idea!

  • Could you send me a beginners playlist please?(Btw i made a green and white beenie) :)

  • @Lolzorz96 The beginner playlist is on the way!

  • How would I make the hat larger without using a larger hook? Could I add other stitches and if so at what point would I do so?

  • I want to really give a biiig thanks! My hat is starting to look like a up turned contact, taking on the tube shape like you said and I can't WAIT till I finish it! I mean if I can do this, anybody can! Much love from Bree(:!

  • I really like the idea with the glue thanks!

  • Can you adjust a hat if it's to small and make it larger?

  • @bandgeekmarching The easiest way to make it larger is to use a larger crochet hook

  • I love this hat but could u show how to do it in a left handed tutorial please that would be very much appreciated by myself and fellow left handers:)

  • i am sorry if this is a nooberson question but what size hook are you using? or does it not really matter?

  • Is it possible to put stripes in this type of hat? If so, can you please explain how? Thanks :-)

  • this video kinda helps thanks teresa your a good helps ;)

and im just a begginer so and its looking tareible so far welll thats my a pineune

    bye thanks ;)

  • @tjw1963 That may be it but when i redid it, it just did the same thing, and i watched VERY carefuly on where i put my increases. Maybe the yarn doesn't like me.

  • @pandagirl4561 mine to thanks for you comet it kinda macks not be scared to say that ;)

  • I am useing Two strands together, and at round four it gets wavy, and after that it curls up like it wants to shrivel up and die. What am i doing wrong? Is it because i am useing two strands together?

  • @pandagirl4561 It sounds like you may be missing increase stitches. That is where you are working two stitches in one stitch.

  • On round 4 my circle starts to get wavy, is that supose to happen, or am i doing someting wrong?

  • @ilove2crochet13 It may be a little wavy at that point, which is normal.

  • @AverageSamm The white strand is a yarn marker to identify the first stitch of each round. The first few rounds of this hat are worked with joined round and the rest are worked with the continual round. Either way, when you are increasing, you will need to know when to start increase stitches with the continual round. If you are working a joined round, it is easy to miss the first stitch so you may want to use the yarn marker for both.

  • Thank you so much! I just started learning about 2 months ago and not only have I been driving myself nuts for making a perfect hat, but I have just gone bananas in general for crochet :) You have NO idea how many of my girlfriends have gone through my books and patterns with sticky note demands (honey, what did I get myself into??) but it is all good, am excited! Have you any leads on pattern sites for fabulous vintage hats from like the 30's-50's for women?

  • Thanks for posting this. I am having such a problem making beanies when I join with the slip stitch, and one can always tell where it is joining in the finished work, because the holes are quite obvious. Am I doing something wrong? I have heard that making rounds instead of joining can make it easier. Any advice? Feel free to email me on here :)

  • @tatuboyusa You can work the continual round instead of the joined round to eliminate the seam.

  • thank you for making this easy for a beginer! <3

  • @ImCrissyQ You are welcome!

  • Do you have any tutorials on making hats for guys? A link would be awsome! Thanks

  • thank you so much, this helped me allot

  • @pwnznoobs1 You are welcome!

  • help me!! i have made two beanies now all of a sudden i cant anymore. i follow your tutorials. i always have and i made a couple now its all gone down the drain heheheh!! please comment on my chanel!!

  • @CallMeGaga What is happening with your caps that they are not turning out anymore?

  • this made me make so many beanies

  • @yakkafish Hats are a lot of fun to make! Please share pictures of your hats on my facebook crochet page or with a video response

  • I want to size-up my hat & I was wondering, If my hat begins to seem it's going to be a tight fit and I haven't made any immediate increases after rounds 1-6, is the need for a LARGER HOOK necessary? AND if you do not join after an extra increase round (5 SC in each of the next 5 SC, 2 SC in next SC, continue around, do not join) does that mean you continue around with this same increase or would you/could you go back to SC to finish it off? Idk how it would look =\

  • @Whisperlistener Your hat will get larger in size if you switch to a larger crochet hook. If you continue to work increase rounds, the cap will continue to get larger.

  • @natmart1986 She has another tutorial on round earflaps. To make a panda hat, you could just attatch those to a regular beanie! :D Hope that helps!

  • Thanks you are a life saver!

  • thx for the video without it i couldn't have made a hat :3

  • Very helpful to us new guys

  • Do you have any videos to make a panda hat?

  • @natmart1986 Sorry, no panda hats.

  • Do you have any videos to make a panda hat?

  • what should I do if it starts bending too early??

  • @TaigaToraDora Either you are missing increase stitches and rounds or the hook and yarn are to small.

  • Theresa, the beanie hats i just finished for my daughter and friends

I added fun fur yarn for the brim and they look beautiful.

Next i'm gone try the pom-a-doodle yarn.

I would love to share the pictures with you

    thank you

  • @angie579 There are two ways you can share pictures. The first is to share a video response to any video I have posted. The other way is to post an image to my Facebook Crochet Page.

  • Thank you SO MUCH....I have searched youtube high and low on how to finish the final row on a hat...you made it so simple by instructing to skip one stitch and then do one single crochet. YAY! I can finally finish the hat I made....my first one...hopefully many more to come! I'm just starting out and am addicted!! :)

  • @crochetmamma You are welcome! I appreciate the comment.

  • If you know how to crochet a ski mask / balaklava . could you upload an instructional video . Loved this vid.

Made me a sweet little hat!

  • Ah! I figured it out! Thank you anyway! xD <3

  • I'm getting to the "10SC" part and I'm completely losing what you're supposed to do. Are you putting the hook through the center or through one of the loops?

  • i've done these types of stitches but somehow the mid area where it transtions is had to do without making the stitch wider for lack of a better word. any advise ladies?

  • @muskiskoka I am not understanding your question.

  • @muskiskoka i want to change from one size stitch to another about mid section of the hat.

  • i think my yarn is to thick to make this hat. I made the 5 stich chain and it was to thick to fit 10 sc stiches into it. How can I adapt it?

  • Thank you so much! I have never crocheted anything before and i made this hat in one day and I love it!

  • theresa , i have done your patterns before, but now than i'm trying so hard to make some hats for gifts i'm having hard time doing the hats right. i keep on watching your videos and i guess i'm trying to hard to get hats done, that i keep on messing up.

first time everything went well. having a brain block

  • @angie579 What is happening with your hats that they are not turning out right?

  • @tjw1963

Theresa i would have to scan the instructions to you, maybe you can help,

i came out with a doll hat

how can i send you the instructions for this specific hat.

i love your videos and i know you can help me

  • @angie579 I thought you were referring to this hat. I can answer general questions that you may have or help you figure out abbreviations and crochet lingo.

  • @angie579

thank you Theresa, i will send it to you tomorrow after work.

maybe you can do a video on this one:):):)

  • @xenabyte Thank you, I appreciate the comment.

  • I haven't crocheted since I was a little kid and found this video very informative and was able to pick it up and do a hat with no problem. Great Video!

  • @tjw1963 thank you! I am going to start over and do that counting and row part again and see if it makes a difference. thanks!

  • I am looking through the comments and didn't find an answer: I followed the directions exactly but I couldn't get mine to form the cone. It is just a giant wavy circle. What am I doing wrong?

  • @mdanehy1 The increase stitches stop on round 6. It sounds like you may have continued increasing, which will make the crown larger. I do have the written instructions posted in the video details below the video.

  • may I ask what size of a Needle your using to make this?

  • @Crafty4girl It is a size I/5.5mm crochet hook!

  • this is a really good video. thank you for posting it!

ima do it the other way tho. i find it simpler. im a dunce lol

  • @Livolenik You are welcome! I appreciate the comment!

  • @ipodnanoism If you visit my channel, you will find a playlist with a lot of hats constructed for warmth. I appreciate the comment, thank you!

  • i love this video! thank you!

  • @mchangflor You are welcome!

  • Hi, I was watching and crocheting along and at the end of round 4, did you mean to say double crochet? I'm confused, I'm sorry, I thought that the project was mostly sc and incr?

  • @MichelleTube11 The cap is worked with single crochet.

  • Hi, Im having trouble joiniong them.. Also how long does it take for a beginer to make a hat? Do you yhink I will have one intime for christmas? Thanks

  • can you tell me what kind of YARN you are using

  • @mrsdreazy05 It is 4 ply yarn

  • thanks! :DD

  • What size crochet hook is it?!?

  • @ttwild111 The crochet hook is a size I/5.5mm

  • can u make a tutorial of a crochet penguien hat please

  • @939087 crochet hook size is usually a I/9 - 5.50MM J hook

  • Comment removed

  • I don't know where I went wrong but my beanie is all curvy like a flower. I don't know where I keep going wrong, also ur video is a little fast to follow :( Help!

  • @sonyamagana1987 - I tried making it looser because i figured I might have done it too tight. What exactly is a slip stitch? Are stitching twice in one hole? I start out good and its like a plate towards the middle it curves for whatever reason still having a hard time figuring it out....smh

  • I love your work. I have made over a dozen of these and I thank you. The instructions on the video are great. Following your instructions were great also. I have mastered this plus your v stitch summer hat to a tee. Keep it up!
