  • if he's a dolphin he can't be a beast like lion

  • I think he starts too deep and then takes a bit of time getting to surface swiming, He should be able to get a little closer to the surface.

  • why is he breathing so much?

  • Notice how he uses one arm to push forward, and the other one to follow through. Fantastic stroke.

  • this guy is a stud

  • I know some dolphins dieing of jealousy.

  • when he is breathing and how?

  • @nicechamp He's half dolphin, they can hold their breath for a long time.

  • hes half fish

  • This guy is a beast I'm mad I can't do flip turn like him

  • at @0:53 I feel sexy down there...

  • like a boss

  • PSSSHHH who is this scrub...

  • he looks like he's dancing

  • this guy needs to be my coach. not my crappy ass coach

  • yeah clapclapclapclap

  • hey cool i have that same club wolverine cap lol it makes me feel good when i swim in the same water michael phelps does, U OF M POOL FTW

  • great crawl kick. feet so flexible...

  • @ViniBsb1973 Doesn't he have Marfan's Syndrome? Isn't that why his feet are so flexible? But to ignore that issue, he's an awsome swimmer!

  • cool.

  • two main observations: incredible propulsion from the blocks to the first stroke and then enormously powerful leg action on the flutter kick. every elite swimmer is powerful in the shoulder girdle; his distinction is in the legs and feet.

  • dudes fuckin beast

  • I noticed that when he takes a left arm stroke, he sort of goes down like at 1:27 ...I've also seen people at nationals and olympics swimming like that, with an uneven stroke... is that intentional? does it help?

  • @foodisgooood I believe the line of thought behind it is that the much more turbulent surface of the water has the most resistance, so this is a power oriented stroke designed to plunge underneath the surface on the non-breathing strokes.

  • @matttheshark i see .......... is it good for long distance only?

  • @foodisgooood As a swimmer, we are told to optimise any advantage possible. The lunge style Phelps takes with his left arm is simply him taking advantage of his right arm being stronger than his left. Because of this, the power of his right arm pull lifts him out of the water further than his left so he appears to dip when taking a left stroke. It causes less drag when he is higher out of the water so reducing the power of his right arm to stay level in the water would just make him go slower.

  • @foodisgooood its a habit he picked up, kind of like a rhythm, which helps him in not messing up and keeping a constant good flow of freestyle. a lot of people do rhythmic kicking too help them too

  • at 0:53 Awesome Dolphin Kick...

  • best

  • awesome swimmer
