I'm gonna be very critical here.

You're gonna want to wear headphones and listen to the song as it's playing before you start mixing it in to make sure you can match the beat and other aspects of the song such as the pitch, timbre, overall feel, etc. You are going to, save for some occasions, for the most part kill a certain part of a song (i.e. the mids) and increase that on the song you're mixing in, and have it work in very slowly so it sounds natural. Also, don't beat grind. It's not needed.
