I too grew up (during college) on Pearl Jam. I loved them then and Eddie has broadened (or just finally showed us) the full scope and range of his ability to sing a song like this as well as his harder songs. I think Eddie like most of us change, develop and diversify in our our view of life's challenges as we realize what is important in life as we mature. Awesome song and CD.

As a fan of "music with conscience" my entire life, I liken Pearl Jam as a "throwback" band that puts more emphasis on the substance in music rather than the "business" of it. Very rare today. They've pioneered the concept of music "by the people and for the people" - something that Woody Guthrie used to say many, many years ago.

I LOVE this song! the way that eddie sings this song, it's so obvious that he truly FEELS it. I have always thought that he was one of the best singers in the rock industry. You are awesome eddie. Truly amazing, as is this song! Can't wait to hear more from you!

My bf listened wanted me to listen to this song 2 months ago and really did not pay attention to the lyrics,,he is gone now died 1/26/10 . This song reminds me of him when he was dying..yes a celebration of his life..Thanks to pearl jam as i will continue to reminisce his memories through their songs.
