  • When I grow up I want to be a V10.

  • Good LORD that's one ferocious piece of machinery.

  • 1:10 have yourself a lick on the pipe! looks and tastes like blood orange! =))

  • Freunde ich hoffe den habt ihr vorher warmgefahren!

  • dioooooooooooooooooooooooos! impresionante

  • O no 160 db can't be street legal ..... it's called F1

  • @imPRETA I wish it bloody was!

  • Jesus, i just read at 18000 rpm the valves move "more than 300 movements up and down a second". The engines also kick out over 100,000 BTU's (1,750 kW) of heat a minute

  • @jimwebb87 in a high quality rc nitro race engine the pistion has to move up and down 700 times a sec

  • Holy shit that thing get's hot! And we wonder why American cars are shit. I love corvettes but chevy could never build an engine like this!

  • @freewill51

    BULL SHIT

  • @designer1240 BULL SHIT? So your saying Chevy can build 18,000 RPM engines? That's just BULL SHIT! Has America EVER built a winning F1 engine? Nope, BULL SHIT! So go crawl back to your hole, bitch.

  • @freewill51

Fuck you chiefton, Chevrolet competed in Indy with Honda if you can remember. That alone should tell you they are capable. Do they have the funding to do so maybe not but Just because something hasn't been done doesn't mean it can't be done. Now go jerk off @ 18,000 rpm. oh yeah ford had chump car i mean champ car..... Woooo

  • @designer1240

I think we should point out that they are *limited* to 18,000 rpm. The FIA did that because some engines (Honda or BMW I think) started getting 23,000rpm from a 2.4L V8! On top of that they are 2.4L V8s because the 3.0L V10s were so fast and producing up to (and over) 1,300bhp

  • @georgeprowse Nup. Cosworth had the highest revving engine at the time and no way did the 3.0L V10's produce over 1,300hp. 950hp max

  • @freewill51 Well, Ford did fund the championship winning Zetec-R V8 of 1994 but that revved to 14,500 and it was designed by the English. Chevy couldn't produce a 10,000 rpm engine, never mind an F1 engine of today - thick cunts

  • watch?v=ZpDNjGVzTKs

And here is what we'll be watching in 2013 :(

  • to były czasy ;D

  • I thought youtube wasn't allowed to show porn!

  • 3 liter only?

  • What are the things on the top? They can't be fuel injectors.

  • @nmann15 Certainly are.

  • .. nice to have a barbecue of woe in the exhaust ....

  • Man, i love that sound.

  • NIIICEEE SOUND F1 O.o

  • Probably a stupid question and my own answer is no but I could be wrong: Can these engines run on pump fuel?

  • @TupacX2Pak They would run, the FIA specs for fuel are pretty much an exact match for the unleaded 98 octane fuel you can get from any petrol station in the uk and europe (have no idea about the us though)

  • @GoldenDragoon Thats a good question...... I know we are now using a lot of ethanol over here so you would probably have to go to a higher octane. I dont think I have ever seen a station that wasnt at a track that had 98 anyways, usually the highest it goes is 93 and some shell stations have 102. very rare though....

  • @craigg1981 we've got 95 and 98, but it's mainly because of our long and cold winters. i think in f1 they use 105 octane fuel. but what i do know is that the fuel has to work on normal roadcars too.

  • sweet music..

  • 160 db! that's fn loud!

  • first world champion v10,last world champion v10,first champion v8 !!!!!!!!!!Ollllllllaaaa first Turbo pionier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Noch Fragen?? Renault nummero 1 MFG Braga

  • Woooooh !

  • hi,can anybody tell me how high the fuel pressure on f1 engines is?thx.

  • @gfr1980 In 2006 the pressure of the fuel supplied to the injectors could not exceed 100 bar.

  • its really sad how they've had to take steps backward in the advancement of engine development for the sake of safety

  • a minardi engineer once said, if it wasn't for certained rules, F1 cars would be driving faster than 500km/h.

  • @mcyd12 Hopefully it won't turn out like group B

  • After a turbo F1 engine, the 3 litre V10's were awesome.

  • WOW!!

  • meth injection I am guessing?

  • @buntcakemadness Leadfree low octane racing gasolene.

  • we need more formula 1 fans these cars are 25 mill to buld one yes one this engine was stoped after the 06 season to be replaced with 2.4L v8 but nearly the same power because the rpm can reach 21000 instead of 18000 with the 3L v10 wich i think sound better and to compare numbers well the nascar champion cup team can race the entire season in comfort with 20 mill there cars cost 250000 to build and an ind or cart 1 to 1.1 that is why we need formula 1 back at indy or watkins glen

  • @Fragile1994

the V8's can reach up to 21000 rpm just like the old V10's, but they're limited to just 19000, and for last season to 18000 rpm.

  • Not to add fuel to the fire, but this is quite an old video, and it's definitely the V10, the first two ports are badly visible because they'r in the shade, but they are there. And this video is too poor a quality for me to count the exhaust pipes, but if you look at the collector part of the header you can see that it's asymetrical to accommodate 5 pipes.

  • sounds like the old V10s

  • at :20 you can see 10 ports

  • @0:20 all 10 velocity stacks can be seen so you are correct

  • 18000tpm

  • Are those carbon fiber inlet trumpets?

  • Comment removed

  • 200 000 dollar engine

  • power

  • Where can I buy one?

And how much does it cost? lol

  • I wish this to be possible. Maybe it is.

  • $326,000. sell everything u own and u can get one.lololololoolooll

  • Wow! Thats more than what I make in a whole hour.... Than I wake up and thats more than I make in a whole hour... lol

  • lol and 100k+ on other variables to get all that power onto the road with out ripping ur tires and face off!

  • For 5million quid you can have eight of them next year....

  • @AF1191 I think it´s about 35.000 $ XD

  • @AF1191 call up your F1 company of choice, say ferrari for example, tell them you would like to purchase an F1 engine, regardless of price, give them your credit card number, and wait for the call from your CC company regarding the recent $2 million charge, tell them you promise to pay it back, and roughly a year later watch your friends envy you as you install your F1 engine in your daily driver car...you did remember to order the transmission right?

  • @bladecatcherX99 2 million? they around 200-400 thousand

  • i jizzed in my pants

  • incredible...

  • Can someone please explain to me why this does not use the conventional 4 stroke and seems to be spraying fuel in ... I know revs have a part to play but can you please explain step by step

    Thank You All

  • i think it is a conventional 4 stroke engine, with some modification of course. including the use of a pneumatic valve system.

that they sprayed the fuel in, i think that it is just an extra injector, other than the fact that it can cool the air temperature that is coming in to the combustion room, AND the fuel fogging is better. CMIIW...

  • they spray the fuel in above the trumpet for better atomization (that is fuel/air mixture) for more precise combustion properties :D

  • four stroke engines are a lot heavier

  • ... -_- so you're tryna tell me this is a two stroke? are you serious?

  • who told u that? whoever it was is wrong...

  • of course it isn't a two stroke. i know enough about engines to know that. this: " -_- "

is a face, and it can mean a lot, from "you're being ridiculous" to "i knew that" to "what the hell?"

in my case it's that he was beind ridiculous and what the hell, cuz these are 4 strokes all the way

  • I know its been 4 months. Maybe you already got your answer. Thats a raceing fuel system, and F1 engine are 4 stroke otto cycle based designs.

Here are the 08/09 FIA Specifications:

Only 4-stroke engines with reciprocating pistons are permitted.

Engine capacity must not exceed 2400 cc.

    Supercharging is forbidden.

All engines must have 8 cylinders arranged in a 90º V configuration and the normal section of each cylinder must be circular. There is a lot more too....!

  • Bad - Ass

  • ive never seen fuel fed into a cumbustion chamber this way but i guess this is formula 1. im pretty sure those injectors are not part of the pneumatic valve system though. im absolutely positive this is the sound of a v10 f1 engine by how it sounds. v8s screaming at 19000rpms are very similar but have their own distinct type of sound. do comparison videos and youll see

  • Once you get to these rpms, combustion events have to occur in much shorter durations, which means you can't afford for any fuel to stick to the walls of the inlet ports(which tends to happen with injecting into the sides of the inlet @ pressures like 100bar) there is less tendancy for this to happen, when you atomise the fuel directly over the top of the throttle body. F1 line pressures are up @approx 90-100bar, in order to keep up at these rpms.

  • Those are not fuel injectors, they are pressurized air injectors. A F1 engine revs too high and has too many moving parts to use valve springs. so instead they use pressurized air that allows the valve to be cushioned up and down. The fuel injectors are below the ITB's closer to the valves.

  • what? utter rubbish! that is the fuel rail, which sits in the CF plenum, that goes on top of the trumpet platform. Why do you think there are 10 of them?! The pneumatic valves are fed by two nitrogen cylinders, one each side of the bank in the engine compartment. Each valve is pneumatic! The pneumatic valve is simply unseated by the cam lobe, and the pressure in the bottle and pipe manifold, allow the valve to snap shut again.its a v10, hence why it only revs to 18500, not 20,000

  • What planet are you from man!

  • yeah wrong cardinalj12, they are fuel injectors

  • dear cardinlaj12:can you tell us from where you got this story?

  • Unless they are showing different engines in that video, its a v8.

At 0:21 it looks like 10 cylinders, but the last 2, as suggested by someone else, could just be reflections. Look at 0:31, 0:41 and especially 1:16 and try say its a v10.

And to people who say it sounds nothing like a v8, well if the v8 in your shitbox 'muscle' car could rev beyond 4,500 rpm, you might find that v8's actually DO sound like that at high rpm.

  • i agree with the first part of your comment it is a V10 at first but the last two are v8's maybe they were showing future models of f1 engines???

As for the second part uh no, v8 do not sound like that at high rpm's unless you push it beyond 9,000rpm maybe i might agree and hold it redline maybe.

I'm being serious and no dodge is not a shitbox muscle car neither is chevy corvette either

  • Mate, current F1 engines are V8's.

The final race of the season is in a few days, watch it and listen to the engines, they scream much like whatever engine is in this video.

  • The R24 was the 2004 car. Which engine configuration was being used at the time?

  • At :31 there are clearly 5 ports on the exhaust header.

  • Very vey good

  • Good

  • i have a driven V8 cars and this does not sound like a V8.These are small 3.0L V10 Renault 90Degree Engine,

This V10 is a true engine

I have driven Superchaged V8,Vipers,Dodge Ram's,and More , my dad has driven renault's while he lived in spain and he knows his cars "this is not a V8 guaranteed"

  • Dont really think it matters how many cars you've driven or how many your dad's driven. in the first part of the video it might look like there are 10 intake ports, but I think thats a reflection because I only see 8 fuel injectors and im doubting the last two intakes share an injector. and at :31 I still only see 4 exhaust headers, thinking your looking at a glowing end of the mating surface of the headers freakinfunkin66. this motors a v8

  • However for 2005 they used a Renault RS25 V10, and for 2004 they used RS24 V10. I know it may look like a V8 but this video is old and renault changed their engines in late 06 to the V8's and they still use V8's today. unfortunately i cant post the link for wikipedia specifying about Renault F1's races and engines. You can just type in Wikipedia:

Renault F1 and it will tell you everything

  • wow how nice choice of words but here is the facts people read wikipedia the link on renault

i would be happy to give you the link

in 2006 Renault used RS26 V8 with Michellin Tyres

however i believe this video is older than what it indicates if you look at the beginning it says Nouxe Productions 2004 so it is a older video

    For 2005 and 2004 they did use V10 engines what i see in this video it is a V10 i myself have seen F1 races,and i agree it's a V10

  • filééééééée ! =D

  • 18 000 RPM ? =|

  • Wow thats a heck of a V8. Id love to build a V8 like that one. A V8 like this would be great to drive. I V8 in the V8 V8.

  • LMAO, build one

If you do, let me know

  • I assume some on here are just saying its a V8 to annoy and frustrate.

With a little investigation one will find that the RS24 was a naturally aspirated V10 that revs to 18,000rpm as it says at the end of the video, not to metion its says copyright 2004 and the Renault logo is the one from 2004 when V10's were raced, Case Closed.

  • Look at the video you retard. If it's a v10 it's misfiring on two cylinders...

1:17 clearly shows that it's a v8. I hate idiots like you. It's called research and development dumbshit, F1 teams can't develop something so amazing in a year or two.

  • No need to call me a dumbshit or an idiot, the RS24 used a V10, 1min:33sec shows you the specs of the engine, as you should know the V8's rev out to 19,000 not 18,000 and back then if they were testing a V8 engine the revs would go to 20,000 not 18,000.

  • You're trying to argue what it says in the video compared to the actual video. WATCH the video. My god. LOOK AT THE FUCKING ENGINE!! IT'S A GOD DAMN V8. Forget about what it says the engine is.

  • Listen to it...have you ever heard a V8 in real life buddy? That is the scream of a V10 the very unique scream which is the Renault V10 engine. Also take a look at :29secs. Now its your turn to show me using the video why its a V8......im waiting.

  • I'm not sure if I'm typing in English or not. but LOOK AT THE ENGINE YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT JESUS FUCKING CHRIST LOOK USE YOUR GOD DAMN EARS!!! FUCK You know it's a V8, you're just coming up with all kinds of bullshit just to try to be right. Do us all a favor and kill yourself. One less useless sack of shit will do the world nothing but good.

  • LOL, your getting so worked up, do you need a tissue bro? Take some riddlin or something.

PLease I'm begging you show me/tell me why its a V8, this is something out of all you reply's your yet to explain. prove your point wholey and completely, come on do it.

  • "1:17 clearly shows that it's a v8. I hate idiots like you. It's called research and development dumbshit, F1 teams can't develop something so amazing in a year or two."

That was my very first reply to this video. You sure, need to kill yourself.

  • "LOOK AT THE ENGINE YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT JESUS FUCKING CHRIST LOOK USE YOUR GOD DAMN EARS!!!", classic mate.

  • It's a V10. I mean Jesus Christ listen to it. Anyone who know F1 knows thats a V10. Count the outlets on the exhaust header if you can't figure it out. END of discussion

  • 1:17 clearly shows it's a V10. Count the fuel injectors. The intake manifold is hiding the two cylinders on the left side.

  • RS24, again, lrn2read

  • The date on the original clip is copyrighted 2004. There were no V8s until the 2006 season.

You fucktards who keep saying it's a V8 should learn how to read.

newbs can't tell the difference between engine sounds anyway, true F1 fans can :P

  • i guess its just two different engines shown

either that or i really am going blind lol

  • OMG U DUDS, LOOK AT 21 SECONDS THERE ARE CLEARLY 10 CYLINDER HOUSINGS. SO SHUTUP AND ACCEPT THE FACT UR WRONG, IT'S A V10. The clip ws taken somewhere between 2002-05 where they used V10 in Formula 1

  • Sorry mate but, those last cylinders that you think are the 9th and 10th are actually the reflection of the 7th and 8th trumpets on the extremely polished block edge. If you look at the light glares on the rims on the left set of trumpets, the first glare is to the left off-centre and the second is to the right, this is consistent. The 9th as you think it is has its first glare right off-centre and the second left. This indicates its a reflection of the 7th. Plus this is Renaults new engine. :)

  • A dude...i only count 4 pipes on each header...that would add up to eight cylinders.....

  • i'm 100% sure it's V10, because i can see 10 cylinders and the fact that it revs to just under 18K rpm which was the top range of V10, the V8 went to 21-22K rpm, so cleary this i s V10

  • maybee im just getting old / retarded but 1.16 i swear i can only count 8

  • thats cos its not the same engine u saw being tested

  • v8? open your fucking eyes

  • is it just me or is this v10 engine short of a couple of cylinders i.e. v8 instead

  • your joking right ? ... maybe you need some glasses ..

  • could the internal combustion engine get any beater than that???

  • yes it could, in WW2 airplanes have had engines 1000-2000 bhp

  • Yeah and Top Fuel Dragsters have 8,000 horsepower..... F1 is amazing in a different way...you cant compare fighter planes to F1 cars

  • They start the world war III

  • thats srceaming

  • Does anyone know if those injectors squirting into the trumpets are extras for full throttle and theres another 8 closer to the ports?

Man, look at those carbon fiber trumpets and the extractors... F-ing amazing machines.

  • No, it's injecting directly into the throttles. There's a bunch of different slang terms for that; F1 Injecting, Stand-off Injecting, etc.

  • try 10 ..

  • there is something about 18,000rpm that sounds like sex with a pornstar! me like very much

  • it will be a nice sound though

  • faster than what?

  • His mum!

  • what if you toke that Engine then put it in a ferri car that would be nice

  • Oh. my. GOD!!

    So beautiful.. and ANGRY!

I wish my car sounded like that (and made 330bhp/liter) :(

  • That made my day

  • almost as good as making love to a beautiful woman

  • brutal!

  • What a clown you are.

  • Awesome ! :D (Man, what a heavy fuel consumption... ;))

  • well i jammed some paper clips in through my cars spark plug holes, and reached ~15000rpm at ~600hp, but really, imagine touching those exhaust pipes

  • The exhaust was fire. that looked scary. sounds awesome though.

  • badboy engine. mate does fisi's gearbox

  • Oh, another beautiful FRENCH MOTOR from the FRENCH MANUFACTURER , called RENAULT.

  • This is so cool!!

  • That is music to my ears ;)

  • so let me get this straight....am i correct in the thinking that the fuel injection is kidna like the ducati engine in which the mist that is spraying out of those pumps above the cylinders is in fact gas, and it mixes with air and gets sucked straight into the engine when the valves open...please correct me if im wrong...im just trying to understand it a little better

  • KURBAN OLUN O SESSE :P LOL..

  • The angle of the engine is 72° as the RS24 is a V10 engine. Also goostav, you are incorrect about the reason for the 72° configuration. This configuration is used because the angle allows the crankshalf to turn 72° for one cylinder to fire and it take just 2 turns for all 10 cylinders to run once each. Other angles can be multiples of 36° or otherwise the engine might encounter misfires. And according to Renault this engine produces an upwards of 800bhp, so ch = bhp.

  • To be honest i think this is a 2004 spec engine, if you look at it from the front you can see that it is a bit wider, which means its a 72° engine, which they used to use before 2005 because it lowered the center of gravity!

  • You are correct about the year. In 2004, Renault used the RS24, then later in the season began utilizing the RS25. The RS25 was then developed into the RS25B and RS25C for the 2005 season. I'm not sure about the angles though.

  • If this thing had boobs on it, it'd be all I'd ever need...

  • If you pause it at 0:20 you can see all 10 cylinders. They're using 2.4L V8s for 2007.

  • if this is a v10 why are there only 8 cylinders????

  • haha hardly, moron

  • "+ de 800ch"? No need to be modest... it's more like 950. Unless "ch" means something other than horsepower.

  • Es un orgasmo.

  • wow!!! thats some nice shit!

  • I just dropped a pistachio nut in my ugg boot, oops

  • the good old days of V10's!

  • its a pitty they cut the engines back to V8's :\

  • The cosworth engine in the Williams can rev past 20,000 rpm... Of course performance on the track depends, in part, on being able to get that speed and power to the rear wheels and onto the ground as efficiently as possible.

FIA has limited 2007 engine speed to 19,000 rpm

  • I liked all the promo videos with the Cosworth reving its tits off, shame to see about a 50% failure rate in the season though (if you get my drift) ...

  • wow! renault is the best forever, alonso is the #1 i've got a renault and i love renault! come on renault!!! :D

  • God damn that is awesome!

  • Let me oooooooout !!!

  • goddamn look at the exhaust manifold....WTF!

  • goddamn look at that exhaust manifold...wtf.

  • are F1 engines gas guzzlers?

  • lol

  • 3.3 MPG

  • WTF man! Its max rpm is 16000 rpm! 2 times faster than a normal car engine! I just love its engine sound!

  • lol and this is from a 2004 engine, the ones from this year hit the 21000 rpms

  • max at 18800

  • LOL nearly three times more than my dads car his only goes to 5,500 RPM

  • Great video!!

  • Por eso son la escudería campeona del mundo. Felicidades, viva renault!

  • excelent!!!
