I've circuit bent a few DOD dirt boxes of varying flavors and they all seem to be able to make this sound. Very fun, but limited usefulness as a pedal (works well as a single-oscillator synth). You should try putting a potentiometer in the bend to get some more use out of it.

I don't get the turn off to strange new sounds for some people. No sound is inherently *bad* - Just like how one of our song recordings had us hitting a filing cabinet with a drum stick and recording it. Sounded great.

lol u could say that about effects pedal users in general, to me any sound is a good sound id rather have two pedals exact the same, and one would be circuit bent and then wow two amazinglyt different sounds

look at what brian eno robert fripp jimi hendrix did with effects,

a true guitarist isnt turned off to any sound he/she can get from their guitar

actually a true sound virtuoso isnt turned off to any sound he/she can get from an instrument whereas a true guitarist loves nothing more than the pure sound of a guitar. effects pedals are only for thickening out the sound, whereas the circuit benders just make a lot of annoying noise.

Just because you like experimenting with sounds doesn't mean you're any less of a true guitarist.

Some of the best guys out there combine crazy noises with beatifully played "pure guitar" sounds. Experimenting is never a bad thing.

I find it to be a question of who uses it. Some people make the most beautiful music with the right effects, wheras alot of people will use these kind of sounds for.. soundmaking.
