i dont get it... if 343 guilty said to master chief that humans were forrunners then why the hell was their a human-forrunner war long ago in cryptum? fuckin 343i ruined every fuckin shit 1:20
@Kevow99 He didn't say Humans were Forerunners, just that Master Chief was Forerunner, because Master Chief could activate Halo. The Forerunners preferred it that only Humans could activate the rings.
@Kevow99 343i didn't do it, Bungie did. If you read the HALO 3 Terminals they say that humans and forerunners are different species. You're believing what a RAMPANT AI said?
Also, I'm confused about "you are Forerunner" line. I thought for a while it confirmed Humans and Forerunners were one in the same, but that theory is contradicted by other sources and Halo 3 itself if you access the Forerunner terminals, which I totally missed on my first playthrough.
@evilemperordude For unknown reasons in the halo universe humanity is considered special to the forerunners and were chosen to be the inheritors the *peacekeepers* if you will of the galaxy. We'll find out in the next trilogy to come. starting with halo 4 =] which masterchief and cortana head to a forerunner planet.
I feel kind of bad for Spark. He was just following his progamming. Its kinda dramatic how they destroy his ring twice. (since this one is a replacement)
@aiboseries No, humanity inherited the Mantle from the Forerunners. The Mantle is what makes humanity Reclaimers and allows us to use their technology.
another thing...the forerunners cant be the biological ancestors of humanity because they were known to live on earth aongside the orginal humans, ie: the librarian..more than likely she simple encoded the ability to use forerunner tech into them before she died near kilimonjaro
e already lying around...another is halo wars, where their is a entire fleet of forernner ships lying inside, yet it was stated before that the forerunners destroyed their ships prior to activating the rings apart from a few keyships (like the one that activated the portal)

ya but according to soruces int he game like the easter eggs detailing reports between teh librarian and architect they say the halos had to be activated rpematurley...meaning something happend that caused them to act quicker than planned...yet this is contradicted by halo: origins showing how the different races survived thanskt o the forerunners plan...this is also in turn contradicted by the construction of shield worlds (like onyx), which kinda says..whats the point f the ark if they had tho
A human is a Forerunner in all but blood, somewhat like an adopted child. They (or rather, our ancestors) were defended by the Ark.
And Guilty Spark had to suffer the loss of ONE halo ring, which he was tasked to guard and run. He had owned it for 100000 years, and then a Forerunner came and destroyed it. I doubt he would've enjoyed the prospect of losing another.
ok, no offence or anything to other people but my opinion from just playing the games is that the humans are forerunner and that they made 343 guilty spark. what makes me think this is the part in halo 1 where master chief is going in to activate halo but cortana is there to stop him. just watch that and see. another thing I like is when sparky is searching through all the human history in halo 1.
side note: tartarus had no ordinary gravity hammer it was the fist of rukt. some think otherwise.

343 Guilty Spark was completely logical and intelligent in Halo 2 and for no fucking reason whatsoever Bungie decided to make him go ballistic and have emotion.
What? Spark was crazy since Halo 1, well...likely before Halo 1. The reason he finally snapped was his attachment to his original Installation 04. Spark existed on Halo for over 100,000 years, by himself. Which led to his strange behaviour and he entered a state of Rampancy. Which is basically the 'smart' AI equilivent of mental illness. His humming, which he did in every game, is a clear sign of his instability. And anger is one of the stages of Rampancy.
Wow. Is insulting people the only thing you know how to do?
As to the Rampancy stuff, that's just stuff I looked up on the Halo Wiki in response to your comment. I don't know about you, but I've known Spark was nuts since I first played Halo and hear him humming and saying 'Hee Hee I am a genius.' To me, that was a clear indicator that he wasn't sane.
And quit insulting Bungie, the triology got better with each game and the series ended quite nicely with Halo 3.
Plus, it was Bungie's story, to end how they wished. Personally, this is my favorite in terms of story. It wrapped things up quite nicely, while leaving things open for a possible sequel some time down the road.
At least he's not going video to video bitching and moaning about every thing. Stop being a fucking cry baby. If you find so many flaws in the game than why are you looking at Halo 3 videos and then leaving stupid comments. Better to be a nerd than have no life.
@Pvtjamesryan2 Every AI has a soft spot, he lost his assigned ring to a forerunner/reclaimer (human/chief), im pretty sure hes not going to let it happen, when he went red, he went into rampancy, craziness. Thats why he was shooting
Anyone notice the chief's pause after cortana said "yank me" rofl. To be a bit more clear here about the forerunners/flood, yes there was a war between forerunners and flood, it ended up with the forerunners having to activate the rings just after they sent the last remaining forerunners on a ship to Earth, I think that's accurate because isn't that how the alocation to the ark ended up? Sort of reasonable because I suppose that would explain the random beginning of history of human race.
aparently. thats why the portal to the ark was on earth. if we decendents, then they must of built it here in case their "grandchildren" had a run-in with the flood, they could activate the rings. too bd we're smarter than that ;)
When Guilty Spark says that he is the forerunner, humans were the forerunners probably. Why do you think every halo game, only humans were to activate the rings? 1- Master Chief and Cortana
In truth Humans existed before the Forerunner discovered them. One of the Forerunners, Librarian, said the humans had immense potential and so we were chosen to bear the Forerunner's mantle after they were gone. In short, Humanity, is the Forerunner's adopted child and so Forerunner tech responds to humans. We are not the same species though. We came from Earth. Forerunners, like the Flood are extragalactic.
Humans weren't native to Earth, Earth was just a planet the Forerunner decided to build the ark upon. It was because Earth was distant from the main space of battle between the Forerunner and Flood that it was chosen. The home world of the Forerunner was likely wiped out sunce most problably knew its location, therefore the Flood most likely knew its location. And humans are Forerunner...
Actually human are from Earth. The short webcomic Halo 3: Cradle of Life depicts a member of an African tribe who regularly go to watch the gods at work. the gods were immense sentinels.
You can argue that, however when something like contact harvest goes so far out of its way to explicitly say that humans were not found by, not chosen by, but were THE MAKERS of forerunner artifacts... i dont know, you have a valid point about the comic but the explanation in the games and novels are more tailored to humanity being descendants of the few survivor forerunner on the ark, their knowledge and legacy lost through the generations. frankly i prefer THAT story to that comic's.
Actually in the game, through the terminals, you learn the the mantle of the Forerunner was passed on to the humans due to their great promise. Librarian had encountered humans prior, meaning that humans already existed at the time. This is akin to a family adopting a child and passing their inheritance over to them. Thus the moniker, Reclaimers.
yes that does seem to be implied, but not overtly stated, unlike an AI specifically calling humanity his makers. I'm not saying what you said isn't the official story, in fact it probably is more accurate. However where Bungie intentionally created so many contradictory elements without fully explaining everything, I prefer to simplay interpret everything that has been said by the characters at face value.
You must also remember that while Guilty Spark knew practically everything about his installation his knowledge, his knowledge about other facilities and such where limited due to compartmentalization. Plus it has been stated in Halo lore that AIs can go rampant and Guilty Spark displayed many signs of being insane from the very first game. As for me I'm going to go with what Bungie was implying rather than taking an insane AI's word at face value.
Plus you also must remember GS also told the Arbiter in Halo 2, that all the Forerunner had died upon activation of the rings. I know I mentioned not taking the word of an insane AI at face value but he did mention if they wanted to see the relevant data meaning there was data to support his claims. Whereas in Halo 3 he was literally going the stages of Rampancy at the time. I believe we killed him during the anger stage.
True, however my main point is Mendicant Bias' claim should have also been taken into account, maybe even more so than Guilty's as Mendicant's was far more specific as to the nature of what a reclaimer was and didnt seem to be rampant at the time. also regarding the halo 2 ending, guilty was carefull to say that only those within 3 radii of the galactic center died, implying those outside that radius (aboard the ark) survived.
They were chosen to inherit the mantle from another race. They were called Precourser. The the precourser could travel to galaxies and speed up the evolution of any species
I understand 343, the Humans destroy his Installation, his "home" a second time. In Halo I hate him, but in Halo 2 and in Halo 3 three I like him and the "death" (also from Johnson) let me crying :)
If all this was real and we werent sitting at our computers but shooting weapons at flood or something,i wander what arbiter would have thought at the 0.06 seconds before he got hit with the lazer.
Goddamn rampant light bulb. He says he's following protocol, but containment of an outbreak is first priority, followed by preservation of constructs. So he should have let them fire it. Proves he's rampant.
Does the arbiter die? Caus he dont get shown getting back up

EvilCleric 2 years ago
yes that does seem to be implied, but not overtly stated, unlike an AI specifically calling humanity his makers. I'm not saying what you said isn't the official story, in fact it probably is more accurate. However where Bungie intentionally created so many contradictory elements without fully explaining everything, I prefer to simplay interpret everything that has been said by the characters at face value.
YoGetOutDaWay 2 years ago
You must also remember that while Guilty Spark knew practically everything about his installation his knowledge, his knowledge about other facilities and such where limited due to compartmentalization. Plus it has been stated in Halo lore that AIs can go rampant and Guilty Spark displayed many signs of being insane from the very first game. As for me I'm going to go with what Bungie was implying rather than taking an insane AI's word at face value.
EvilCleric 2 years ago
Plus you also must remember GS also told the Arbiter in Halo 2, that all the Forerunner had died upon activation of the rings. I know I mentioned not taking the word of an insane AI at face value but he did mention if they wanted to see the relevant data meaning there was data to support his claims. Whereas in Halo 3 he was literally going the stages of Rampancy at the time. I believe we killed him during the anger stage.
EvilCleric 2 years ago
True, however my main point is Mendicant Bias' claim should have also been taken into account, maybe even more so than Guilty's as Mendicant's was far more specific as to the nature of what a reclaimer was and didnt seem to be rampant at the time. also regarding the halo 2 ending, guilty was carefull to say that only those within 3 radii of the galactic center died, implying those outside that radius (aboard the ark) survived.

actually Forerunners are from our galaxy
They were chosen to inherit the mantle from another race. They were called Precourser. The the precourser could travel to galaxies and speed up the evolution of any species
RADDA671 2 years ago
You are indeed correct. I must have mixed them up with something else. Probably the Xel'Naga from Starcraft since they have so much in common.
EvilCleric 2 years ago
Can yo send me a message with a better description of what you just stated about forerunner and precourser

The human race is Forerunner, the decendants of the sole survivors of the Forerunner-Flood war.

I understand 343, the Humans destroy his Installation, his "home" a second time. In Halo I hate him, but in Halo 2 and in Halo 3 three I like him and the "death" (also from Johnson) let me crying :)

Goddamn rampant light bulb. He says he's following protocol, but containment of an outbreak is first priority, followed by preservation of constructs. So he should have let them fire it. Proves he's rampant.
