Its not string its yarn, and theyre winding it into a ball. Before people had machines to spin yarn and roll it into a ball like you would buy in a store people would wind by hand. One person would hold the yarn on both hands so it didnt get tangled while another person rolled it into a ball. You can also use things like a chair back to hold the yarn. Many people still do this today.

i noticed when she walks away with the ball of yarn at the end, its much larger than it was before. You can interpret this video so many ways, very abstract.

looks like 3 generations of women, women by the door is waiting for the woman holding yarn, (of life maybe?), who gave it to the one gathering the yarn, you know, life. Its a metaphor.
