Eric's dress & schtick are not the problem. They're symptoms. The problem is he is not a player who plays from the heart. I compare his slide playing to John Popper (Blues Traveler) on the harmonica. A lot of notes, just not much interesting in the way of his phrasing or originality. It's like a fast typist-After about 30 seconds, I'm bored.

Ive been at his shows. They are great. Intense to say the least. Most people who have something bad to say about other musicians usually ARE musicians themselves and they are speaking more about themselves than the people they say they hate. There is plenty of music i dont like to listen too, but i never go out of my way to say something negative about it. Why would i, when i can spend my time doing things i enjoy. trash talking isnt fun to me, to some people, it is.

Great showman. When he walked through the crowd playing, my son (age 6) and I were in the open, he turned and he had my son strumm the strings while he did the picking. You never saw a kid's face light up so much. Met him afterward, he talked with us for a minute or two. Told my son that he started playing guitar when he was 6. LOL, my boy said, "it hurts my fingers".
