I'd have a hard time saying whether the '68, '69 or '70 is my favorite RR. I love the dust trails on the '70's! I guess the truth is they're all my favorite.
@recordrelics Hey, Michael! Indeed..there were very discrete changes in these cars...68's are a sure giveaway because of the "Nader Eye" round side lights, front fender and rear quarter. All promise great performance at a reasonable price...they had a gold mine there! Thanks! :) Jack
MEEP MEEP! mopar muscle cars were just outrageously cool with all the heavy usage of cartoon decals and graphics. i just saw a road runner superbird with the huge wing going down I-75 the other day. wild cars!
@MrLambFries Hey, Brian! It was a brilliant advertising scheme...the kind of imagination and flexibility that Detroit was capable of at one time....just too bad it has been abundantly absent so long! Great to see one in the real world...I'd be nervous driving it on the interstate! Thanks! :) Jack
@mi777ke777 Hey, Mike! MOPAR really hit a home run with this cartoon/automotive combination! You have to admire whoever got the idea for it..I hope they were rewarded appropriately! Thanks! :) Jack
I love these cars, I have a model of a '69 GTX Road Runner ... It looks very good in my display cabinet with my other models :)
Many people have disagreed with me over the years, Jack, but I believe that back in the 60s & 70's, Mopar were very much the Kings of the road, but they sadly started losing it towards the end of the 70's :(
@drewerz01 Hey, Mike! Very true...I think the decline actually started in the mid 70's with the change in pollution laws. These earlier cars had great engines, good engineering, and a bulletproof automatic transmission that I would have put up against anyone's offerings. The usual problem with MOPARS of this vintage would be little things..radio doesn't work (happened to me in 3 successive MOPARS) but the mechanicals were strong! Thanks! :) Jack
@jojocats2 Hey, John! Yeah, the paint is definitely a strong point on this car as well as the great performance. The Warner Brothers tunes definitely helped sell the car...brilliant marketing!
another car i want in my future collection and i love that blue! u wouldn't happen to be going to Cruisin the Coast Mississippi in October? Biggest show in the gulf coast Jack!
@jayrod68 Hey, Jay..I agree..a very desirable car indeed! Sounds like a great event, but I think I will save the money to go to Carlisle and Hershey PA ..we'll see how the real estate taxes go..that determines my travel plans for sure! Thanks! :) Jack
@Bocist Sure is...kind of what I would describe as an "electric" blue! There was just something about the colors of cars back in the day. They got your attention!
Wow :-D I've never seen that rear window before. That's pretty cool! I like it. I never really paid attention to this car.... whenever I hear 'Plymouth', I think SuperBird!
@050999742 Hey, Chris! Yeah, that window was pretty interesting....my Dodge with the same window had a problem of rust forming under the chrome molding at the base of the window...it is a weak spot for these cars. I think the clips that held the trim would scratch the paint surfaces, so providing a ready base for rust. This one looked perfect, though. The Road Runner was a low cost performance car! Thanks! :) Jack
one of my two favorite cars from plymouth:) There is one 1969 RoadRunner coupe for sale up here, fully restored with a rare 440 cid High Perfomance engine and in light brown color. A stunning car:)
@torjusb Hey, Torjus! Glad I could bring this one to you...glad you have one in the area. Certainly a triumph for Chrysler Corporation at the time! Thanks! :) Jack
@naterade21 Hey, Nate...sorry to say I don't know what was under the hood..that would be cool if it were the 440 six pack..but it could have been a 383. Thanks! :) Jack
@JohnFromSpace Hey, John! That's amazing..but I think it worked to get the car noticed..and it wasn't something anyone else had done to sell a car. I think it was pretty bold, imaginative thinking at Detroit...can't agree that that much money was warranted, but heck, if it sells cars, more bizarre things have been done! Thanks!

Road Runner gave you a lot of bang for the buck. That dash is very tasteful and functional. If memory serves me correct the dash was new for 70

@cheddyrod Hey, Chester! They sure did! I believe you're right about the dash..different from my 68. Thanks! : ) Jack
