If you get a Supra and a Cobra and put the same amount of money towards performance tuning on both the Cobra will come out on top. The reason why you see so many Cobras(and other american muscle cars) gettin outrun by cheap jap imports is because the jap is usually tuned to the top and all the american car has is an exhaust and some headers. As a mechanic I will say this. More torque=Faster. And bigger engines produce more torque than small engines the rest is all opinion and prejudice.

Supras are still arguably the fastest roll racing car out there, and as turbo technology keeps improving supras keep getting faster than most the competition. Love some beefy V8 but any guy who has raced a supra knows 9 times out of 10 it will fuck your girlfriend and leave you crying.

Mustangs are cool but badly OVERRATED. Even twice as much as the Supra. They're everywhere, and too many people (including those that Don't have one, let alone the owners) think it's faster than anything else on the road because of its "V8".

I heard the Cobra needs forged internals to get past 500 HP. Supra takes 600 HP on STOCK internals, and the turbo system is ALREADY THERE, so it is cheaper and Easier, therefore, more modified Supras out there.
Even if you supercharge a stang, superchargers add less power than turbochargers because...
Supercharger- while it adds power, also takes some power away by having to use a belt.
Turbocharger- draws in more outside air and pushes out hot air faster, so the engine run more efficiently.
The 03-04 cobras like the one in the video DO have forged internals Stock and can exceed 500hp easily with bolt-ons many guys are putting down 600+rwhp with bolt-ons and pullies,And supercharged 99&01 cobras do not have full forged internals and can put down 500 rwhp with out any problems, i know this from experience, not tryin to start a fight just helping you get your facts straight, Im a Cobra guy but i do have respect for those Supras there nasty.

Why is it that anytime there is a domestic vs import race, there automatically has to be a huge argument over which is better. Obviously the supra has been built a bit more and it won, but did you see the cobra's driver making up excuses? No, and they still posted the video. It doesn't matter where your car comes from, as long as it's fast it's a fast car. Yes, I drive a mustang and wouldn't even consider driving the supra, but it's all just preference, and they're still both great cars imo.
