man i played rome total war with cheats from the very first time i got it from a friend as he said its hard without them and i was so fool not to try it without cheats.then i got medieval.i loved it i played it with cheats and then without i really loved it.now i try to find a link for rome total war download to play it without cheats as it will be awesome.still thought i dont think one of the two is better but people who played rome a lot more than me say it so i kind of trust them...

How to defeat missile cavalry?

@TheTravianhero Use other missile cavalry, or archers, u can also use artillery and basicly any range units at ur command - if u dont got enough or not at all any range units, try and use light cavalry to catch up with them, so if u got 1 or 2 light units, use 1 light cavalry to tire the missile cavalry, and ur next fresh light cavalry will easily catch up with them.

Its a good idea also to surround them and force them into a meat grinder.

Can someone Please tell my why when the Mongols siege our me castle or city etc they NEVER use their siege equipment they just drop it and hope for an open battle which is very hard depending on your army strengh and size and against 7 star generals!

Is there anyway to fix this: BTW i installed the latest patch 1.2 and it has not seemed to do anything??

@jimmyjamjamy If you are besiged by an enemy, you don't have to move out and face them, it's they who must breach your defences and face you. But for that to work, you need to have a battle time limit, and if the time runs out and your opponent hasn't killed our routed all of your troops, you win!

Thanks for but what im saying is the mongols never use the seige equipment and when I end the game it ends as a draw and this happens every time so I can never win unless i beat them in an open battle and that is hard.

@jimmyjamjamy they will only use their siege equipment when they are the ones to attack you. it's just like when you're besieging a settlement and the enemy rallies his troops, you don't man your siege machines since there's no need to, they will come. The AI probably thinks you will sally forth, so he just has to pull some inches back and do some formations.

it bullshit when the producers make up all this bullshit tactics in this games

every game they marching toward me and when they get close enough their line formations get fucked up

they start spreding out, units running in to units and they all attack instantly and there wont be any tactics

welcome to total war, the only game that impressed me was shogun 2 but there isnt much strategy in diplomacy and economy.

@deltaflow00000 Well that is true, they do try to flank you every once in a while but really the only why I lose to the AI on very hard difficulty is if the have a HUGE advantage. The real strategic battles are in Muti-player.

Aw, I love this game. Good gameplay, acceptable graphics (Good enough to look at, almost every PC can play this at medium settings.), many units to choose from, and especially the era. Grand campaign is fun, too. Siege battles are even more fun, I think. :D :D

i just beat the Milan, i was outnumbered, and surrounded, so i had spearmen around the outside, holding off the enemy infnatry and my archers were in the center, hammering them before they got close.

after that i got my cavalry out of the circle and they were able to kill the enemy general and flank the rest of the army, forcing them to retreat

Try hard mode, aka playing the Byzantines or Turks. Especially the Turks. I hope you like the Byzanties, Crusaders and Egyptians. Well, they are of course going to look a wee bit like chump change once the Mongols and Timurids turn up.

It's also a very nicely varied army. Early on, your infantry sucks but you have really good horse archers. LAter on, your infantry gets more and more professional and you get some neat heavy cavalry and good gunpowder units.

@Falconpunch82 rain makes missle troops less accurate (or in the case of gunpowder units, unable to fire at all) i think rain slows down movement for all units in general but idk abt tht
