If you want to be really picky, you could say that that final blaster shot went into the neckline of the Walker- as in the weak spot between the moving head and the main body. Looking at the schematics, (see Wookiepedia) it's a flexible tunnel, which by its nature should be less armoured than the rest of it. That explains why the second shot did nothing when it hit the head, (the first shot hit the snow) but the third short hit the weak point and combined with the sudden fall and etc etc /thread

Starwars movies are full of scientific flaws. Why is this one worse? Laser beams making sound in space? Laser beams making sounds at all? Light sabers which use crystals the generate power to repel blaster shots that come from the same crystal sources. And btw whats the battery lifespan on a blaster or a saber? Maybe if I read the books it would make more sense but honestly I do not watch starwars to gain insight on technology that doesn't exist. Starwars is more fantasy to me then sci fi.

I did also see how blasters seem to sit in the belt like a recharger. So the containment field also keeps things out thus allowing them to repel blaster attacks. I honestly think most of the flaws in the original movie are just cinematics of the era. Everything you shoot turns into a firecracker.

The massive explosion is due to one of three reasons. 1: It is an old film, and making a partial explosion that leaves a wreck would cost a huge amount of money. 2: It has a reactor core for power, which was hit and set off a chain reaction. 3: Dramatic effect.

Okay, if you REALLY need to have a valid, in universe answer, here you go. Notie that the last set of shots from the snowspeeder, the ones that make it explode, one of them goes into the gap between the head and body, where there is obviously a joint for the head to swivel, and thus less armored than the rest of the vehicle. So, the blaster can penetrate and cause damage. Lawyered. However, this fact simply serves to illuminate the fact that the rebel pilots suck at aiming.

Wow, really? Obviously the weak parts of the armor were above the cockpit but the T-47 airspeeder (aka Snow Speeder) couldn't achieve the altitude to hit it due to the extra weight brought on by the addition of reinforced armor plating. I thought everybody knew that!

Now the part where the two speeders flew over the cockpit of the walker was a mistake. Obviously Lucas didn't do his home work before writing the script....

Apparently you don't know too much about the AT-AT. the quickest way to destroy it is to shoot it in the neck region. Since the head blocks that area, they had to make it fall over so they could shoot at it. There is no mistake made there, there is only someone who knows nothing about Star Wars.

It's basic Star Wars knowledge that the Imperial Walkers all have weak spots. AT-STs are weak from underneath, AT-ATs are weak at the neck. Obviously the neck is not exposed with the head in the way, but once it topples the Rogues can attack it. Even as a child seeing this for the first time I was like "oh yeah, i get that. makes sense"
