  • im soo happy that 3 years of french helped me understan around 99% of this :S

  • @mliaab

After 3 years of french I couldnt understand any of this :(

  • @smartercat well it could help that I've also taken ballet with a girl who only speaks french...

  • @joeinparis (cont.) as opposed to other schools of different culture where the teacher will cross that line to achieve a desired outcome. I was more responding to the "petit is a perve" comment. Petit could very well just be a perve, or it could be cultural perceptions. Either way, no offense intended. I love ballet in all forms.

  • @joeinparis Sorry wasn't clear in my statement. Just in general, Americans tend to be more prudish in their approach to teaching ballet. I feel that other companies/countries/cultures have a more liberal approach in teaching techniques, whether it be a stricter regimen or more severe physicality. Not that American teachers won't physically correct a student but that there is a line in that physicality that they won't cross (just a generalization, there are always exceptions).

  • R.I.P. Roland Petit. You will be extremely sorely missed. There was no-one quite like you.

    Au Revoir.

  • like to remember him teaching, adieu Monsieur Petit dance has lost a diamond

  • rest in peace, roland petit....

  • He's just trying to show the proper placement. I guess it's unconventional in America because we are a "lawsuit" nation, but it is very common in ballet schools such as in Russia that the teacher will physically show the student how she/he is to hold the body and will physically correct the body position.

  • @camille32087 Purvey old man is my inspiration...

  • I'm sorry but i don't see any reason why he needs to be touching her like that...otherwise brilliant

  • How in love I was with Roland Petit and Zizijeanmaire. The were all I had to study in the 1960's There was no you tube and dance was catching on. How lucky we are to have him teaching.
