  • What is this from?

  • She is adorable

  • god will give u ellen degeneres opera winfrey chelsea handler four andy kaufman rodney dangerfield bernie mac johnny carson back !!!

  • @AndrewsOpinion15 God wouldn´t make a Deal that Fucking Dumb.. He´s having a Blast right now, He has all the Good comedians : /

  • haha, I had to check who brought the catskills up first xD

  • What year was this?

  • Then you talk about the catskills the whole thing with the catskills

  • Fantastic comedy.

  • this is pure gold, such a shame there isn't much original comedy like this anymore.

  • LOL

  • The most anti mainstream American humour, American comedy artist.

  • the inventor of alternative comedy

  • Heh, I always loved the desk thing, but it's only after watching the clip again I've realised the audience are facing the wrong way, too, and have to turn their heads to see him. The man was brilliant :D

  • If Andy were alive and watching this, he'd be the one who posts a comment playing the role of an abusive troll to get everyone pissed off and keep it going until everyone got so frustrated ... and the fun part would be that nobody would know. Andy didn't do humor for you, he did it for himself. He did it to entertain himself, that's what made him a genius.

  • i love this i totally get it, i love that this funnier now a days then it would have been back then, its so funny. i love the typical exes that try to have a normal conversation but the past is always going to to haunt them. and i know that elayne was a part of that joke.

  • ladies and gentleman the desk IS the joke

  • i love how the marionette laughs at him

  • The hairdo doesn't do much for Elayne - she's actually pretty nice looking. This hairstyle makes her look like Marcia Wallace ("Mrs. Krabapple" on "The Simpsons").

  • I think this was from 1983, I was about 13 at the time. Of course I didn't get any of Andy's humor then, but I distinctly remember my parents absolutely hating him lol.

What a rare and brave performer. This was during the time when he was essentially being black balled by the industry. . . and he's still up there, pushing the envelope. What a great pair of performers, he and Elayne.

    Thank you Andy.

  • This is the squirmiest thing I've ever seen on TV.

  • I love this guys way of making comedy! That set up is so outrageous it's priceless! lmao Comedy like this has since died, which is the saddest thing. Thumbs up to you, Andy!

  • LOL! This guy was the greatest comedian ever, hands down. Just my type of humor, completely fuckin with peoples heads. The desk is 20 feet high. freakin brilliant!

  • Pretty brilliant. I love how she climbs up to drink her water :)

  • I love the way she is looking up to him.... .... And he is looking down at her... ... She must feel belittled....

  • This is genius. That his desk is so much higher than the guests and that they would set up an "interview" that plays out like a personal conversation between two people who feel a lot more than they can show without losing their cool. Flawless.

  • Super troll

  • OMG. These twoo bickering at the commercial break is soo funny.

  • @whereisthesanity That was part of the show :) lol

  • fuckin genius

  • what channel did this crap air on

  • He hurts my head, I can't figure him out....

  • whats this mean , IRL troll?

  • @longfootbuddy

    Instigative

    Relationship

    Lie

  • I wonder if this was another set up of andys or a real argument :)

  • @kaitlinan oh come on - it was still being broadcast - they didn't really go to break...it was not meant to be taken as real...

  • @pa20002000 ppl that thinks it's real should watch the movie Andy's World with Jim Carey... they would understand kaufman's comedy after that.

  • @warhaux andy's world? How about Man on the moon ?

  • @crashoverride28 yeah, sorry, my mistake... it's man on the moon. in my language it was translated to "Andy's World" and i translated back to english without consulting IMDB.

  • LOL!!! Wonderful performance! I wonder if that was all scripted or improv?

  • lmao i love how they keep the routine up even after they cut to commercials, leaving the audience in total unsurity. Total brilliance.

  • They both are great actors. It is awkward because they are acting like it's awkward.

  • was this a prank?

  • @nonlineark32 This was Andy Kaufman's brand of humor

  • A true comic genius!

  • this has to be the most honest interview i've ever seen.

  • @blues970123

Pretty sure it's the least honest interview. I mean, even though they told mostly true no real emotions were shown here. Their goal was to make the viewer uncomfortable, not themselves.

  • 'Ok, we're back!"

  • His seat is 20 feet high. LOL I love Andy!

  • What a great genius Andy was. Fantastic comedian. He blows my mind to this day!

  • This is gorgeous.

  • Even an steel I-beam would go soft at the sight of a naked Elayne Boosler.

  • unbelievable talent.

  • That's Andy's genius, that this seemingly authentic interview could have been staged

  • Fake. The giant table is classy as fuck though.

  • every damn page there's at least one comment that's a version of OMG FAKE!!! I fucking hate the internet.

  • What a great angle they both played!

  • genious

  • very funny

  • It's great that they didn't actually cut to commercial. Pure, un-adulterated awesome.

  • things get awkward----couldnt of said it better....LOL----god I miss that man

  • freaking genius...!

  • lol the desk...mocking the insecurity of late night hosts...bitchin.

  • The desk was just an excuse for Andy to look down actresses shirts. :)

  • vuvuzelas and andy

  • Watch when the camera pans away from clifton near the beginning. He goes to take another drag really lifelike lol.

  • Um, *awkward*!

  • This is comedy genius! The whole idea that their personal life takes over the show is great. I loved Andy Kaufman and still miss him. Thanks for posting.

  • Great! I'm a fan of both. All those little touches, like the high desk, were great. I loved her getting on the chair to have a sip of coffee. Probably a lot was improv.

    Thanks for posting!

  • funny

  • wha year was this???

  • @greenmatzoh It was July, 1983.

  • this is a great bit ...prolly boosler;s best stuff

  • Lol I love this. Awkward humor like this isn't done nearly enough. The only other show I can think of that's awkward like this is Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! And after seeing a bunch of Andy Kaufman clips it's very obvious that they're very influenced by him.

  • Sounds like they're already married!! 5 4 3 2 1 and were back!!! Lol!!

  • bickering like real lovers

  • An-dy! An-dy! E-layne! E-layne!

  • This clip reminds me of how gorgeous Elayne Boosler is...I've ALWAYS thought she's hot.

Looks like she's looking up a tree at Andy...

  • @wannawatchu66 My nickname for her was Elayne" The Body "Boosler

  • Aside from the hysterically-elevated desk, i cannot believe that Kaufman went through with the feud routine 'off the air' (and huge kudos to Boosler for making it work so beautifully). It was beyond genius, and more importantly, there is nothing like that kind of thing being done even today, decades later.

Kaufman was so original and so utterly fascinating that my mind boggles at how much further he might have advanced the field of comedy if he hadn't died so young.

  • @gigantes1966 Apparently, Andy Kaufman lives.... in separate entities. Andy Kaufman the likeness is alive but in name only. A technical running joke that's been happening in perpetuity since 1984. Presumably, the actor switched places with someone who was terminal, according to his and Tony Clifton's Twitter links, and now lives as an artist. The Comedy Store even reported on Twitter that on opening night of this week's The Tony Clifton Show, there was someone in the audience resembling Andy.

  • @Mysterwright That would be really nice. A dream I'm afraid.

  • @gigantes1966

    died?

  • @ButterOnCorn

    pardon?

  • absolutely legendary idea to take the joke further off air.......the way he got people believing it was real was the true magic of Kaufman...RIP buddy....if your dead that is...could that have been the final Kaufman prank?...we'll never know

  • Things get awkward is an understatement. Genius.

  • oh my gosh just absolutely amazing rip andy kaufman greatest comedian ever

  • The desk kills me every time!!!

  • the part at 6:00 kills me.

  • @Paintergrl1313 I totally agree,

  • Wow. The desk and guest set up is ingenious.

  • Wow, very unique clip..

  • Great improvisational comedy. Improv is something that has been totally lost since the mid 80s.

  • @waswss How dare you say that about Andy. He had the most brillant minds in entertainment ever. He was the best & one of a kind man. I wish he was still alive.

  • thumbs down for you

  • @glasseyemolly Andy was not a jerk. Really he was a very nice guy. It's just sometimes he would act like a jerk.

  • I was the only one working in those days!

    HAHAHAHA

  • I didn't suspect it was staged until she started complaining about how they weren't following the prearranged topics. That part sounds too much like a "bit."

  • HAHA...the table set up is very funny.

  • It's anti-comedy.

  • I understand all that-Im 48 yo, I saw him come up, my Mother came and got me out of bed to come see him do Elvis on Johnny Carson-no one did Elvis in those days, not like now where Elvis impersonators are the status quo, he created the genre-props to him for all that-but this later stuff like this, why is it in the category "Comedy" if it's anti-comedy? Watch his wrestling stuff-his Mic time-funny funny stuff

  • @bigjimsteelrod Very true I love Andy's Elvis impernations. I love anythning Andy Kaufman did.

  • @SeanPhillipMabrey Yes it is comedy. Andy Kaufman was a very funny man.

  • @bigjimsteelrod i think its more about it being obsurdist humor, with a boring literal arguement over it.

  • aNDY IS aMAZING

  • Andy seems a little high

  • He was such an asshole. LoL

  • I love Elayne Boosler

  • ditto

  • i don't think it's staged. just obvious inviting an ex-girlfriend on the show. who doesn't love to watch a couple fight. and knowing that is what made it good t.v. and why andy is awesome.

  • @10menonachest: "i don't think it's staged." This is Andy Kaufman we're talking about here, you can never be sure of anything.

  • Elayne Boosler had trained for a career in professional wrestling, but then switched to comedy instead.

  • that tony clifton puppet is amazing.

  • Successful troll is successful.

  • I don't care if it's staged, this is one of the funniest things ever.

  • :31 to :47 was my favorite part. Who did Tonys' voice in this show anyway?

  • Im pretty sure that was Bob Zmuda as Tony Clifton here-they would both do Tony at different times and places to create doubt and confusion

  • Its staged.

  • 5:05...absloute brilliant anecdote and laugh...hy-STER-ical!!

  • This bitch fucked around with Tony Clifton I heard. No wonder Kaufman dumped her.

  • Greatest IRL troll ever

  • A god amongst trolls. I try to model my life after him.

  • Whether you think he was funny or not,he would never"let you off the hook"as far as a gag goes-he milked it for all it was worth. All the world was a stage for Kaufman, and the joke was on everyone(except maybe his writing partner/best friend Bob Zemuda)

  • lol funny interview

  • I was in stitches the instant I realized the height difference between guest and host.

Andy sure put a lot of thought into being a dick. He was the best.

  • that was really well done! nice post pal

  • that part in between them being on air, that's not staged is it?

  • greatest interview EVER!

  • awesome! andy was brilliant.

  • win.

  • Love the bit with Tony Clifton! Nice Video!!!!

  • Kaufman rocks!

  • thats a good bit.

  • Stunning. "Ok, we're back."

  • his podium rocckkss

  • Both of them are brilliant in this. Thanks so much for posting it.

  • I love his podium.

  • hahaha yea its the stupid stuff thats just genious

  • yea.....before this, I've never seen or read about the fact that most talk show hosts are so insecure that they need to sit about a foot higher than their guests.

In this skit, Kaufman was brilliant in exaggerating it to a ridiculous level, sitting 10 FEET above them.....lol

  • This is a great bit of work.

  • truth is stranger than fiction... and funnier too! this really makes me smile because it's so real and so funny and sad at the same time.

  • When Elaine went for the cup, Andy almost lost it. XD

  • this was so hilarious

  • Elaine Boosler? How unfunny. But Andy was a GENIUS.

  • really original stuff for back then. The high desk was apparently a joke in itself parodying how talk shows at that time used to have the host's chairs slightly higher than the guests.

  • hahaha why is he so high?

  • A joke on how johnny carson and other hosts chairs were slightly higher than guests'.

  • The thing I love is that he seems genuinally like... really proud of her.. during his entire introduction. :-)

  • .. ugh .. i want his genius!

  • not genius, just guts!

  • fucking brilliant.

  • Andy Kaufman was Tom Green before it was cool! What a genious!

  • ...Please don't compare Andy Kaufman to Tom Green. Seriously, you're THIRTY-FIVE years old and you said that?

Please tell me your thirteen-year-old son who favs Jackass clips just posted this on the wrong account. Please, to preserve my faith in humanity.

I'm not even going to address the vast differences between the comedian who possesses supreme timing skills and subtley vs. the one who whores himself to neckbeards in an effort to actively shock them into viewing his sad performances.

  • Jeez bro. You need to get laid or something.. you're a pathetic fuckin nerd.

Is this a sketch? If so it's amazing. Reminds me of the Office UK style of humour.

  • You seem depressed.

  • because i watched all of this lame video

  • tom green????????????????????????????????????

  • Welp, you're wrong.

But I do like Jacques Brel.

  • His desk is ten feet in the air. It makes it so much funnier.

  • I love when Elayne reaches up and drinks from the mug. Judging by Andy's reaction, I feel like she adlibbed that bit -- Andy could barely hold back a smile.

  • Of course jews are evil. They grab babies by their ankles, smash the against the corner of a wall and use their smashed remains to make latkas.

  • what?

  • Haha! I don't know if you're trying to be insulting, but that was funny. I enjoyed that. ;-)

  • ;-)

  • Is that a joke? Im confused......

  • You guys are fucking retarded. I'm trolling, no I do not think Jews are evil, I am 1/2 Jewish. This is an Andy Kaufman video...he messes with people--my comments are a reflection of his humor and an attempt to show the absurdity of racism.

My god how do you people manage to breath....Fuck stupid people on youtube.
