  • @mutatedchicken Exactly. This basically in a way is trapped light in a glass box. Looks like a new 3d plasma tv to me is all. Reminds me of Nintendo's old virtual boy. That thing hurt my eyes if I played it too long.

  • @AHW214 Yes it is neat but it is still in glass.

  • Problem still is you need something to be a backing or containment. I will be most impressed if a hologram can be made with out such and images are projected into air.

  • it is so sick that they invent this shit in the movies way before.

  • LUKE! *Shrrrrr* :)

  • save me obi wan

  • Hard to tell how this actually looks in real, because the cameraman didn't bother synching his framerate.

  • I'm living in star wars!

  • Watch out for Project BlueBeam.

  • imagine this combined with xbox kinect, like you kan hold your gun in mid-air

  • I think you will find that just because your screen is a gas doesn't mean it isn't a screen!

    Awesome work though.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!! BONES IN REAL LIFE!!! (The AMERICAN SHOW) lol YEAH BOY! so sweet

  • In twenty years, we'll all be epileptic.

  • @declensionent or nobody will be epileptic?

  • this the right way to do it! i have imagined somthing like that years before!

  • these are the first real holographic features i have ever seen

    and it rocks

  • This is getting somewhere, ill give them 5 more years

  • Plasma excitation is how I thought true 3D would have to work many years ago, but I didn't realise someone would be mad enough to make it! :) After higher frame rates are developed and not worrying about the energy demand for this, how will they produce colours? Different gases in plasma state yields different colours, see aurora borealis.

  • Good news everybody! Planet Express's new holo-TV is ready for testing. I've decreased the power output, so the burning sensations you felt in your retinas during the last test should be slightly lessened.

  • Help me Obi Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope.

  • Thank you Asians!

  • is it future yet?

  • Nice! Cisco Telepresence Ver 2.0. I'm scheduling a meeting of the Jedi Council.

  • blogsandjobs4u.blogspot.com visit for more quality technology blogs

  • Lol his last name is wantanbe

  • i was hard for me to finish my college ,lol

japanese dont teach students old crap

  • @onidead true, but they didn't do anything special in their powers except technology, and they've joined the axis side during wwii, so yea

  • magic

  • can anyone explain to me how this works please do know much about light wavelengths or anything

  • ive seen three videos about this, and no one has even tried to mention holograms. oh, and porn.

  • The real reason why they created this wasn't healthcare or stuff like that, it was "Wouldn't that be totally awesome?".

  • One day this will be used for porn. That will be a great day!

  • @mungent25 Cheap prediction. Almost anything in live is used for porn, so...

  • @mungent25 then its gonna be fun, cant wait for that day haha

  • more fwapping technology

  • developed by bert

  • And samsung will copy this :D

  • thumbs up if wicked lasers brought you here from facebook

  • They neglected to mention the fact that as the plasma is formed, it creates large amounts of ozone and a HUGE amount of noise

  • @KRZKrizza maybe this is how we fix the ozone layer ;)

  • *Green light flickers*

    *Human face figure appears*

    Arcturus Mengsk: Valerian!

    Me: D:

    ---Stacraft 2 cinematics "Dangerous Game"

  • And so it begins.

  • Not good enough

  • Mass seizure attack. I like how Japan wages war with the world.

  • 0:41 introducing the world's first 12 year old engineer

  • Personal AI?

  • It's time to duel!

  • My FUCKING EYES.

  • @adamisonfiree the flicker won't be as bad in real life. What you see is the same effect you get when you film your CRT television screen: the 60hz refresh rate is not in sync with the 25 fps framerate of the camera and therefore flicker is visible.

  • This looks like the one in movie.

  • Get me one.

  • Gentlemen, from my eyes it is apparent that the size, shape and dimensions of the display are completely controlled. Is it not therefore, merely a stones throw away of re-engineering, that would provide the world with most realistic light saber ever created?

  • 74 people have epilepsy

  • Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope!

  • omnitool, here we come

  • It's always refreshing to see the Japanese putting their brains to good use, instead of the typical bizarre shit we see in the media and on youtube.

  • I have seen Cubic Screen where you can see 3D objects but it was expensive but already old tech, I never knew why that tech never made it to the main stream since it was much better than this one and could use true color (32-bit) and high resolutions.

  • I weren't be surprise if they invented jarvis from ironman next, where u can move the 3d object around.

  • dear Santa...

  • Japan mother fucker

  • We're still a little behind mobile emitters, according to Voyager...

  • Green monochrome. We've hit the IBM 5151 stage of true 3D imaging. This is so cool. How long will it take to reach "HD" quality? Place your bets!

  • funny how we go from Fat TVs to Flat TVs back to Fat boxes again.

  • They should note that the display propably looks better IRL without low fps capture from camera. This is just to awesome...

  • Вот она, вот она голограмма моей мечты !!!!!

  • This is amazing.

  • By my estimation this is Star Wars: A New Hope level holoprojection. That means Science is 30 years behind Movies. That means we will have Warp Drive by the time I am 50.

  • :36

  • oh my god, the porn!

  • I swear I knew this was Jap made, those guys are smart asses, btw stop it at 0:43 !

  • A revolution will occur in making a game and making a movie.

It is too realistic and dead is likely to come out.

  • gayest voice ever!

  • just add few gigawatts to laser's power and it will be lightsaber

  • interesting, this is.

  • Absolutely the future

  • lololol, nothing new has change since the 90s in 3D halographic technology

  • Japanese 3D inventions:

    3DS

    Now this.

  • I want that in my iphone!

  • i like the fishy :)

  • HOLOGRAM!

  • "Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope."

  • What is thy bidding, my master?

  • 1:18

  • Now they can make that " holojaws" movie create a holographic shark ad like on back to the future 2 lol

  • Why aren't japanese ruling the world already, they deserve that title!

  • @onidead

japanese invention: technology for a better life

american invention: technology for a bloody life (war)

    that's reason <3

  • @clashingspiral - Ah, yes, we all love Japanese innovation, and many other wonderful things from Japanese culture. Let's not forget, though, about their *designs* that led to U.S. involvement in WWII. After defeat in WWII, the Japanese no longer had to worry about defense spending as that became the role of the U.S. (Actually, they do pay the U.S. about $2 billion/yr as host-nation defense support, but that's FAR LESS than the 100s of billions/yr for U.S. military spending.)

  • @onidead you're a fucking faggot

  • @onidead no. just... no.

  • @onidead No nation that could release a piece of shit like the PS3 to an unwitting planet could ever earn that title...sorry.

  • @mookixox Well it's better than X|_|O.

  • @onidead because we have bigger guns.

  • Ohhh shit, I would never imagine halograms to ever become a real thing! Wow technology

  • Hmmm better porno

  • @SkatMansWorld First application alike for sure...

  • Sweet Mother of Science this finally exists!

  • Seriously, you thought of SIGNAGE and not Star Wars???

  • Ish mag.

  • that is COOOOOOL O.O

I know what i want in christmas

  • feel like the Matrix, me gusta

  • Technology's good and complicated

  • Would someone explain it

  • Remember our green crt screen and think about what comming next this.

... Man... THIS is a revolution. Now I'm waiting a fast evolution of this!

End of the stereoscopy current screens soon? ^^

    Sorry for ze low english

  • I hope they use something like this for Miku's concerts one day ^_^

  • SOON... LIGHTSABER!!!!

  • I hope they start mass producing this technology so they can improve it and make it available, we are way behind of what it was supposed to be happening in 2011 and so on.

  • agora só falta os sabres de luz. Ainda tenho esperança.

  • awesome

  • psh.... 10 years from now, there will be a 10 year old showing off their fancy homemade laser based volumetric display

  • It's amazing...

  • Limited colour and low frame rate? This is just like when they first created the motion picture...and look where that's taken us... :)

    The future is very bright!

  • also, my english teacher told me not to use "also" on a beginning of a sentence =(

  • Only Amish people would dislike this.

  • I was waiting for a digital readout of the Death Star plans.

  • what is thy bidding my master..

  • are they on the market? like for real...programing one of these to use at a dj show would make everyone want to go

  • Just think how in 10 years ahead we'll look back and think of how ridiculously simple this was!

  • This is nerd porn to my eyes

  • and can I supersize those please?

  • I'll take 2

  • Who the fuck could dislike this???

If this doesn't impress you, you need to let us borrow your time machine!

  • next Nintendo console- the True 3DS!

  • Nunca tinha visto um japa de língua presa!

  • haha this like 8-bit for holograms

  • Miku Concerts Need To Utilize This Technology!! Soon :)

  • omg thats totally forn arsch, was ein unspektakulärer scheißdreck

  • You can see these 3D displays on CES2012 next year.

  • a friend of mine asked if it will hurt if you touched the laser. i responded that it will only excite hydrogen atoms in the air, and will not be harmful to skin. is this correct?

  • i want to see 3D porn

  • Shut up and take my money!

  • i've already got that in my room

  • just like my video...

  • @integralfrom0to1 P.S. The nitrogen dioxide and ozone from this fucking thing running would stink a room of people to death in about 20 minutes.

  • Comment removed

  • I wouldn't want to be accidentally blinded or burned by these lasers.

  • I want to hook my X-Box up to it.

  • Ppff this is like the back and white version of a tv back in the 50s .. this will eventually evolve .. duh nothing special here...

  • The technology behind Miku Hatsune's 3D concert, now available to the average citizen

  • @ArkBlitz Wrong. Miku Hatsune uses technology that was popularized by the Gorillaz at an MTV music award ceremony. It's simply using a Musion Eyeliner System to project a cartoony image on the stage. It's not true 3D like this.

  • @trfinck And I could swear that the effect was actually made with lasers!

  • @ArkBlitz Think so huh? Actually it uses ANY STANDARD PROJECTOR. Aka, shit you buy at walmart. It's simply a METHOD. Does not use lasers, rather, it reflects light off of foil (from the projector and lighting setup) and creates a cartoon image. Only reason it looks 3D is because it uses multiple projectors and projects at different angles. Get your shit in gear before you start an argument !

  • @trfinck Uh... focus on *could*... not wanting to start an argument. So, the pseudotridimensionality is based on the presence of multiple layers of reflectors, right?

  • @trfinck Yes, true, but, I think that selling it as something that the 'Goriilaz popularized' is greatly underselling the age of the core invention to the illusion, which is called Pepper's Ghost.

  • it's blinking because of the difference in frame rate between the display and the camera

  • Plasma! Maan! I should have thought of that.

  • This IS new. NO SCREEN!

  • This isn't new.

  • This probably causes cancer as well :(

  • @danhayabusa I doubt it, that would only be by direct laser contact, the materials that are used on the other hand to make the device...well who knows!?

  • I'm pretty sure the Gorillaz perform with holograms

  • @shallah45 nope sorry just optical illusions...

  • I just came in my pants!

Think of the future of porn!

  • the future is beginning .!!!!!

  • IT'S BONES!!!!

  • SCIENCE! It works, bitches!

  • Dear Santa...

  • @Powerman20xx its called sex.

  • suspended 3d projection in fluid but its not "midair"

  • @kakureru

It functions in water OR in air. To do air just requires more powerful lasers.

  • Where's the 3d porn?

  • another thing from science fiction we never though would be possible, has been made possible.

I expect faster than light travel in 50 years.
