Wow so wonderful to hear people say nice, intelligent things about Pollock's work!! I myself have worked in Pollock's style I can also attest to the need for balance and technique--Its not just throwing paint around!!!

"Alkyd enamel" paints hadn't been invented when Pollock painted. He used nitrocellulose paints. What other untruths is MOMA spreading?

This is the best presentation of Pollock's art I've ever seen. Today many artists (including myself) sometimes use this method at least partially. While Pollock had (and still has) many enemies, the fact remains that his art still rates up there with the most valuable art in the world. The strict realists bash it and cast it out as worthless or mere "wallpaper." But the majority of people disagree with them. One reason I think we love his work is because he was one of us.

This is so fantastic... ah...The art by Jackson Pollock has always touched me, as said in the film - the sequence of images you make in your head concerning the creation of the art, whilst investigating it, is absolutely one way to feel the thrill.

@FangedRabbit whether something is hard to do or not is irrelevant. pollock's work is about the gestural, physical grammar that all paintings have except amplified at the expense of all other qualities within visual art. its just an idea, an aspect that belongs within the larger mileau of the art of painting. if you accept that some paintings are art, then how can you not accept this when it is blatantly about the practice of painting?

@FangedRabbit I can say from experience that there is nothing easy about painting in this style. It takes time, effort, self-discipline, patience & sheer know-how. This technique may look easy to do, but i have spent days, weeks & even months contemplating some of my works. Only an Artist can produce a beautiful balance of color & form that will enthrall the viewer & lose them in the endless scheme of thought !
