If you find it hard to keep up I recommend printing off a blank sheet of music. Then fill in the notes from the video and practice in your own time (plus you have different sheets of music that you can look back on and practice at any time). (:
i love these lessons i breezed through the first one and took two days on the second one (a day for each song) learning a piece of the song at a time until i got it down and on my own time i practice what i have learned all the time. this lesson will take me some time but thnk god for the pause button!!!
In case anyone is wondering, "In the key of G" is the key signature of the song. The key signature tells you all the flats and sharps in the song. If you know your major keys or scales, you'd know that the sharp sign on the top line of the staff (F) in "Molly Malone" means that all "F"s is play as "F#" unless the music states otherwise.
the reason he keeps losing view's is b/c he's going too fast for a begginer.. begginers need encouragement, along with slow and steady learning... i'm a begginer and i can't keep up with him mainly b/c i can't read the staff but i can read tabs
Hi danfie, Thank you for the videos, I'm nearly at the end of lesson three two weeks after picking up the guitar for the first time. Playing house of the rising sun, albeit without your little extra notes, made me smile a massive smile. Cheers!
sorry i just feel u need to do more explaining and talking in this video . tell all the small changes u r including and how to play them. if not this is not helpful
its not that the discouraging part is how he's making his sound all pretty by adding the extra beat into it when he's trying to teach he should be ONLY strumming the notes he's taught us not all the fancy ness because when ours doesnt sound the same its upsetting.
@lashyon thats why i am having problems following youtube guitar lesson people lol any tips for someone who wants to learn but hard time getting things to click in their brain? -- yes i mean me... i feel so stupid tryin to teach myself but i want to learn again... i have to take baby steps again because i forgot most of the things i have already learned :(
@WoIfProductions they arent used i this video i dont think, and it doens seem he is making more, so i suggest you find another guy like guitarvoicing

Loving the videos, this is great for a beginner like me, but I think I missed something? How do you play the F# in Danny Boy? Did I miss the sharps and flats section?

OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE IT I'VE FINALLY LEARNED THESE SONGS. xDDD I didn't actually realize what song Londerry Air was until I started the fast version though. XDD
i understand it takes practice, pause rewind, etc etc. but the tune playing, doesnt correspond to his guitar, there is music playing behind his tune, and it doesnt help. i'm learning guitar 3 weeks now, and really enjoying it. had i started learning with these videos, i would've given up after day one. i wanna play songs so friends can sing and have the craic on a night in, not to read sheet music and complicate everything
hahahaha I like how everytime there's a new video, there are half as many views. This guy's great. It's just gonna take practice, just like any other instrument
Sometimes, when something shows up that he hasn't explained, you could WATCH his fingers, and LISTEN to the sounds made to FIGURE OUT FOR YOURSELF what you need to play.
My guitar doesn't hold the tone. During practice I have to re-tune several times. Does anyone know why this is happening. I do live in a humid climate, not sure if that's causing it. Perhaps the strings?
Pretty Cool lesson here, Covers the topic quite well. Ive just made a bunch of detailed courses for beginners and advanced guitarists that you might be interested in. Check it out! would love to know what you and anyone watching this video thinks. Its totally free, and i mean TOTALLY
@carloskimey r........ READING ????????? dude!!!!! that's not what i meant, what i say is: if you want to learn how to play the guitar then you have to practice instead of complaining about the video, that's all
Love the you to fast comments. Lol. Um.... pause.....rewind..... maybe ..... replay. These vids can last five mins or five hours.... five days even....and so on! Your in control.
Your either not pressing down on the strings hard enough, or putiing your fingers in the wrong place, remember to put them just behind the fret, not on it
i didn't learn from these. i learnt from googles. their notes are just like music games so simple. this notes are like piano notes. u don't need that lol , that's why the songs he playing are really old. the new songs notes recently are the ones u can find in google. just type "tabs"
People. Playing these songs requires PRACTICE. You are not going to be able to play these songs perfectly the first time you see it, and most likely not the second, third, or fourth time. Just rewind the video and start over. Practice. Eric Clapton didn't get good in 7 minutes (about how long these videos are) and neither will you!
@purestr4omar You can't just keep learning new stuff every time. This isnt teaching you any new notes because its allowing you to practice moving between the notes you already have in different ways. Anyone can play a song if they practice it over and over to learn the movements between notes but then as soon as you start a different song your stuck. Try playing instead of just listening.
The other notes you're hearing form the accompaniment, and is played by another guitar. Your playing should sound "monotone", since you're playing single notes (which is what the sheet music suggests, as well as the instructor's hand).
Occasionally, he doesn't mute a note that had just been played on an open string; in those cases, two notes sound as well.
if u guys really want to learn write down the notes from the music we learned so far. using the notes of the strings on a piece of paper. than practice it on your own time. if u dont understand music than look for some teaching to read music on Youtube.
If anyone could tell me what the little symbol is before the notes in londonderry air and what the long line connecting the notes is it'd be much appreciated. Thanks
@Tyler70506 The first symbol you come accross is a # whick is known as a sharp. This adds a half step to the note so instead of playing F you will be playing F# or the 4th fret on the D string. The second symbol is called a Tie. It is used when the number of beats desired is more than a measure will allow. In Londonderry Air, there is a whole note connected to a quarter note in the next bar. So you would hold the note for 5 beats. Hope this helps!
LMFAO my fingers dont hurt at all, take a break of one week u gonna be fine and i remember all the notes, and play as fast as before :P but u know hot water makes the caluses get hard :P try that if u want :P
@eagleduzt just watch his fingers, you can clearly see that when that note with the sharp comes up he uses his thumb to press on the second fret of the fifth string. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but that seems to be the case. Use some other sources along with these videos to learn.
That sharp at the beginning is used to say that every note that is F in the piece is raised a half-step. However, he didnt explain it cause there were no F notes in the piece
@eagleduzt hey guy, You could rewind the previous lessons to know more about the notes on each string. I think this man does a great job of organising his lessons. Cheers!
this is officially the best way to learn guitar. I mean, without having someone teach you in person- as that's much simpler. But I used to have a guitar book that went on string at a time, but I feel like I'm learning more this way. Kudos to this guy :) And to anyone who thinks it's too fast- yeah it is, that's why you get blank sheet music and write down the songs. Should always keep a record of the songs you learn anyhow! :D
If you find it hard to keep up I recommend printing off a blank sheet of music. Then fill in the notes from the video and practice in your own time (plus you have different sheets of music that you can look back on and practice at any time). (:

The other notes you're hearing form the accompaniment, and is played by another guitar. Your playing should sound "monotone", since you're playing single notes (which is what the sheet music suggests, as well as the instructor's hand).
Occasionally, he doesn't mute a note that had just been played on an open string; in those cases, two notes sound as well.

Hey everybody,
if you stop playing your fingers will never callous and so they will always hurt when you play.
Just stick it out and keep playing trying to feel the music and not the pain.
With in a week or two your finger tips will be rough,
and playing wont hurt at all.
At least that's what all guitarists I know said.

U don't even explain things anymore. why do I see a sharp or something?? I dont know how to frikin play that
eagleduzt 1 year ago 57
@eagleduzt just watch his fingers, you can clearly see that when that note with the sharp comes up he uses his thumb to press on the second fret of the fifth string. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but that seems to be the case. Use some other sources along with these videos to learn.

@eagleduzt
That sharp at the beginning is used to say that every note that is F in the piece is raised a half-step. However, he didnt explain it cause there were no F notes in the piece

@eagleduzt There aren't any sharps in Molly Malone, that's just the key signature. And I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to use google.

@CometGoat And just move a fret up for sharps.
