  • My toy poodle has gotten "Patella Luxation" - Knee injury as she was a pup. Now she is 1 and a ½ year old and I wonder if it doesnt do her bad to train agility?

    Anyone who knows?

She is very energic and i think she would love this - even tho she isnt that well trained really. :)) Agility would probably be perfect for her, but my concerns are her knee which was surgeried.... i dont want it to come back or something....

pls tell me if you know about it..

  • @Zanityy My dog had surgery for a luxating patella at one year old. She is now 8 years old and running just as good as ever. They can do agility just fine as long as the vet says it's ok. I made sure she was completely healed and healthy before starting training. Sometimes with luxating patellas you have to worry about the other knee slipping, but luckily her other knee is still good.

  • @AllAmericanAgility oh thank you! Yeah she might get it in her other knee too since she only had a surgery in one of them..

  • my BC looks EXACTLY like that one...just a little less fur :) she does agility too!

  • i cant wait till my dog is old enough to compete in trails

  • @GypsyagilityBC44444 i ment compitition force of habit i type trails

  • Love the BC grabbing the learsh :) Just like mine!

  • Mixed breeds can't compete in this?

  • @vannie4321 Yes, they can now if they qualify.

  • @vannie4321 ANY dog can enter aglity

  • @vannie4321 yea they can. Not sure in AKC runs but for local shows yes.

  • I love the way the dogs do this. I am training with my dog Daisy she is a Augie half Austrailin Shepherd and half Cardigan Welsh Corgi. I don't care about winning in the matches we do I just go to have fun NOT to GET the BEST TIME. These matches should be serious but not 2 serious.

  • ok so i got a english pointer i looked ona Akc thing and it said the only thing they can compete is gun sports and stuff like that but i want to have her compete in agility so are they eligable to compete in agility competions ?

  • @supermanpowerx yes they are!!

  • you can see the dogs just absolutely love doing this!

  • As a non-competitor, and just someone who's recently begun watching agility vids, why is the last dog disqualified? Do you have to take the walk at a max speed/minimum time or something?

  • @InvestmentBankerNYC

You don't have to take the dog walk at a max speed/minimum time. The dog, however, does have to touch the yellow contact zone at the end. The judge, from my understanding, called that the last dog did not touch the yellow contact zone. I don't think it was eliminated, though. Simply faulted, although I could be wrong on that.

  • @NessaLuzzette aah, all right. Thanks (=

  • Love the way they react at the end:) my dog does The same thing:D

  • They make it looks so easy!!!

  • the first dog is soo funny. the way it runs ahaha

  • lol "stupid dog, you made me look bad" a thing only eustace from courage the cowardly dog would say

  • Wow, that border collie was amazing!

  • so what the last time?

  • That was really good....those dogs are fast, and certainly are champions! They also seem like they're having fun....!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think the best thing about agility is that its so fair- A chihuahua could compete against a great dane in the same competition and they both have equal chances of winning.

  • Its great to see little dogs showing what they can do, not just being carried about in handbags

  • Agility Dina Felisse : Look please

    Regarder S.V.P

  • how do u train dogs to do these things?

  • it is easy to teach them agility, all u gatta do is teach them each obstacle, and put them together, i do agility with my 1 border collie dakota and pappillon maggie,

  • LOVE the Papillon!!!! What happened at 4:34?? Why did the judge say No?

  • The dog didn't touch the contact zone on the dogwalk

  • @LonesumDPuppies The dog didn't hit touch the contact zonecoming off of the dogwalk.

  • 3:18 the dog acts like a human doing fist pumps when they win haha so cute!!

  • What breed was the second and third dogs that ran?

  • @7fictionlover17- Shetland Sheepdogs

  • @jusy143

"Rear" is a type of cross. Instead of crossing in the front (front cross), you cross behind the dog. Very effective for larger dogs & faster small dogs.

When she is yelling "walk", she's telling the dog to get up on the dog walk instead of going into the off-course tunnel. It's just the command to tel the dog what she wants him to do.

  • @sheltieagility101

    thank you!!

  • so awesome da 1st 1 is adorable!

  • tres belle conduite bravo!!!

  • Run Cap, run!

  • That ist ABSOLUTELY GREAT!

I wan't to do this with my Jack-Russel-Dachshund Mix. but I don't know how XD

  • WOW, these dogs are great!!!!!!!!!! If you have a dog i say sign up for agility, its great and fun!!

  • Oh, man, it must be soooo tempting for the dogs to go through the tunnel instead of going over the dogwalk!

  • This just make me smile!

The dog, jumping in the arms after, that's so cute.

The dog is the most amazing animal EVER!

  • I love when they jump into their arms <3

    Thats so cute <3

  • WOw how do they trian these dogs there so fast..? was this event in LB california?

  • @gordo33, it depends on the personality, type, and motivation. Probably a few of the dogs did flyball which teaches dogs to go fast, too.

  • I love it when the dogs jump into the handler's arms when they finish. They love it!

  • Amazing!

  • Wow! that is impressive. My frenchie and I started a little over a year ago - and he is doing great. We had our first contest and he Q'd in 2 events and 2nd place in beginners jumpers. I don't think I have that much coordination as a handler - but my frenchie really loves to compete. That was fun to watch!

  • wow all of these dogs are trained so good me and my dog are still working on weave poles

  • That BC that grabbed the leash was hillarious. You could tell that dog was excited.

  • that dog was like FUCK YEAH I RUN THIS BITCH

  • These dogs are wonderful!

  • Hey! Really good vid!! Im gonna get a dog a train Agility! agility looks really fun!

    5/5 Stars ofc!

  • okay.. so i'm entering my dog in agility.. but she's a mutt.. is that cool for competitions or are we just gonna stick to it for fun?

  • Yes that's fine. I see many crossbred dogs doing agility at the club we train at. Dogs that traditionally aren't bred to even work at all. Any dog can do agility as long as you do foundation skills and work on your relationship building. The reason most dogs that do agility are working breeds is because they were bred to work. I have seen great danes, newfoundlands, through to chihuahuas and dalis. Good Luck!

  • thanks.. i'm looking forward to starting. honey has a lot of energy and is really speedy and agile, so i think she'd be great for it.. i was just worried if they'd let her participate.

  • The AKC just announced its new mixed breed program, so soon any dog will be able to compete in AKC agility. Info from the press release:

As of October 1, 2009 owners can begin enrolling their pets and receive an AKC ID number. Then beginning April 1, 2010 enrolled dogs will be eligible to compete in mixed breed classes at stand-alone AKC Agility, Obedience and Rally events.

  • YES! the hybrids are AWSOME agility dogs! Im selling home equipment if youde like some! Or come to my house to train for free!

  • cool :)

if honey enjoys it i'll definately consider getting some equiptment of my own..

    where are you located?

  • im in mass right now. ...Let me quess were hundreds of miles away! hahaha!!

I want to see honey!! T_T

  • yep yep.. i'm in california..

    i can email you them..

  • -_- email me what?....the dog? lol

  • yes.. haha.. no.. like a picture

  • @KaylaDoogie USDAA will accept mutts and mixes as do AKC now both are great formats have a great time

  • @KaylaDoogie You can most definetly compete with a mutt in agility. Purebreds and mutts are equal in my book.

  • The blue sheltie and the first bc are my favorites.

  • Same here!

  • Great dogs! Love the Papillon!

  • Amazing!! I practice agility with my Yorkie!

  • Great run! *claps* The first dog did an AMAZING run loved it!
