There's 2 kinds of proof:

First, there's evidence. Video tapes, showing the victim with the murder at the time of death, is Evidence.

Second, there's proof: Things like DNA, the murder weapon in the house, etc.

Proof doesn't say it is true, it only makes mostly sense THAT it is true.

Now, to come to your story about TBB, it's Proven (sort of) if you look at the facts trough a paradigma that makes it proven.
