I did know what to expect tho with James Iha in the band you're gonna get a more romantic type sound then Tool. Heard it for the first time in 2001. I was on my way to my grandmother’s funeral in Iceland. My cousin was driving and had made this mix tape with it on. On a 6 hour drive, we got to hear it a lot.
The night before the funeral, my mom wakes me up to tell me that my uncle had been in a car accident and had passed away, on his own way to the funeral.
I listen to 3libras for the remainder of that summer and all through my late teens, when i felt really alone. It still gets me.

The phrasing of the song is much less sexual than the imagery in the video: simply it expresses childhood/teenage (or even adult) bitter feelings of being overlooked. Almost Emo!

I believe the video is about a guy (maynard) that was good and innocent when he was a little boy and then grew up and became not so innocent (with the women in his bed). They are just showing the contrast of what he was like when he was a child and what he is like now as an adult, it's kind of sad.

@chichithepea though I could take the 'expecting too much from the wounded' and the biblical paintings in the video (which to me are a an obvious reference to something of the sort) as a sign that one of the libras may indeed be 'god' in some sense. I'm not a religious man myself, but god, to people. is many things, be it science, or love, or even the religious figure. everybody needs 'god' but 'he' doesn't see us, no matter how hard you look and how deeply you believe, or indeed see him.

The problem with atheists is that they claim to know something everyone else doesn't, when they truly can't prove their assumptions, just like any other religion. The trick is to understand that no one knows anymore than just plain existence. Everyone truly has their own reality, to say that you know what their realities are and dismiss them is a continuance of the confusion we've been breeding. @jgr8781 This goes back to third grade when you stood in a line with your classmates and each attemtped to tell the same secret to the other in a linear fashion, trying to maintain its integrety throughout. Info gets distorted so spreading gossip is wrong & etc. These parables Christians clame as a write of passage are also found in the cultures which they've chosen to exclude themselves from. We're much more alike than we will ever admit. Yet, we seperate ourselves like kids on the playground.

I believe the video is about a guy (maynard) that was good and innocent when he was a little boy and then grew up and became not so innocent (with the women in his bed). They are just showing the contrast of what he was like when he was a child and what he is like now as an adult, it's kind of sad.

But, anyway, what I heard was that the song was about 7 people in Maynard's life that were all Libras that used him in a bad way, like you said feeding off his energy. He is so lucky he can turn his emotions and experiences into this type of art...I wonder how he learned to sing...how did he ever get a voice like that? I heard he was discovered on accident, yelling out a window.
