  • rock out john.

    never seen a better one!

  • frusciante is god

  • What songs are they, i must know!

  • hes just got such mad wild style alot of people might not see him as the best or some crazy music changing virtuoso but I DO!!!!!!!

  • Hes good but not the best, he seems to just repeat licks over and over, from slow to fast. Hendrix and Jimmy Page are way better, even Slash might be better...so he's not the best sorry. Also check Robin Trower. Sorry kids, but not the best.

  • honestly they're some of the same licks but the fact that almost all his live solos are improvasional makes up for it

  • obviously hes not the best of all time

hes just pretty much the best of any popular band at the moment

now someone tell me what song that is hes playin at the end

  • youre right but this vid is about john

  • dont forget flea they're both awesome

  • someone plz tell me what that last thing he plays is

    i must learn it

  • He's playing funky monks intro... blood sugar sex magik is the album

  • thank you so much my friend

  • what song is he playing at 4:40?

  • what song do they start with?

  • Bring it on home by led zeppelin. Great song!

  • whats the song at 1:35? it sounds like a they're just jamming after green heaven?

  • yertle trilogy

  • 3:16

  • whats that amazing solo called that starts at 2:24 it's driving me crazy!

    John Frusciante FTW

  • That is "paralelle universe" FROM CALIFORNIACATION. The solo of the album version is completely different but also incredible. Yeah- just like you said- it drives you crazy - that solo is one of my absolutely favorites. I wish i could have been there when he played it live.

  • What the song he's playing from 7:55 on?

  • get on top i think

  • Funky Monks from BSSM.

  • no dude 7:55 on is funky munks..well just the intro but ya sick lick..

  • are the best guitar player of the world for me =P

  • does anyone kno what concert the first solo is from? i wanna learn it

  • in the begining they are playing bring it on home by led zep

  • nvm. thanks mann

  • the first one was first played in a led zeppelin jam i think...

  • tis black dog.

  • or atleast it sounds like the intro to a live version of it.

  • it is

  • tis not black dog, its called bring it on home, last track on led zeppelin two, they used it heaps live is an intro to black dog though

  • 5:48 what concert?

  • Stadium arcadium tour, kenton ohioh.

  • It was on the By The Way tour.

  • odysey japan ( 2002 i think)

  • Thats John at 6:05 his first album with the peppers was Mothers Milk....

Oh he really dosent "hump" the guitar....He allways is on the ground like that at shows it's hot but it's not called humping.

    Wicked vid.

  • I'm not positive, but I think the guitarist at 6:05 and 6:40 is not John, but Hillel Slovak, RHCP original guitarist who died and was replaced by John. I could be wrong though.

  • Yeah that is John both on 6:05 and 6:40. He was just younger and had a weird haircut

  • ;D!

  • 2:27 it's parallele universe

  • 4:56 - 5:06. John humps his guitar.

  • 2:27

  • FAG.

  • 2:27

    sick bass

  • Frusciante , everybody's favorite music man :D

  • john frusciante is the man... no question

but i think after watching this everyone should note just how sick of a bassist flee is.

  • Yeahh the bass is great too :)

  • oops i mean 6:40

  • the song is called 'sexy mexican maid' from the album 'mothers milk' released in 1989.

  • oh wow i feel really stupid ha i totally knew that

  • What is the song at 6:20

  • its cant stop

  • john frusciante es el mejor!!!feliz año nuevo gente!!!

  • god.

  • Whats this 4.22 ?

    Its something like Unplugged ?

    i've never seen this before..

  • it is "under the bridge"

  • i know whats the song is ;p

but i don't know what the show is.

  • It's not Unplugged..

It was that tv show to help the people victims of the hurricane Katrina.

  • That tone at 5:12 is heaven. Reasonant, powerful, airy. Very musical.

  • john is a piece of art from himself.

    the greatest...

  • HHHHhhhhh. Damn that man is an amazing guitarist. If only i could come close to his funk

  • whats the thing in the beginning? i would die to learn that!

  • Led Zeppelins bring it on home

  • kk ty

  • BRING IT ON HOME :D

  • LOOOOOOVE the old Frusciante clips!!! He was fuckin awesome back then, monster chops!

  • lol hes playing bring it on home

  • fuck you!

  • thats kinda the point of a lead guitarist, to wow the crowd, and don't forget the flea and chad solos. the only person who really doesn't get a solo is anthony

  • WTF?! "the point of a lead guitarist is to wow the crowd"? that might be the worst use ever, anywhere of words. are you crazy?!

That's why there are so many shit guitarists out there... guitarists who believe that guitar is made for impressing other people rather then playing actual music in it. Frusciante himself would definitely disagree with you. Impressing has nothing to do with music.

BTW i like Frusciante, but he does get carried away with fast runs rather then melodies.

  • you suck

  • hey retard only fags who cant solo would could soloing live sucking dick, if anything its like getting ur dick sucked

  • john improvises every solo, it's never the same solo twice, when you have literally never practiced what your playing on stage, there are bound to be some mistakes. i saw em on their last tour though, and John's precision has gotten way better than it is on this clip.

  • sorry to let you down, but almost any guitarist improvises solos live, so it's not really anything special.

  • he s good the blood of hendrix he understand jimi' s soul . big up for john fusciante and m. flea who s got the voodo too and his tatoo:) bisous.

  • wheres the gig at 1:00

  • John Frusciante influenced me in many ways... While i'm playn' my guitar, when i'm "build" a song. But i can't stop dancing like Anthony!!!!!!

  • junkie john will burn in hell!what a loser ~ jack

  • Lol There was a time when I didn't know what that first lick was.

  • John Frusciante is awesome!! Thanks for posting!

  • Now that's THE way to shag a guitar =)

  • I'm a major frusciante fan, but this little collage of frusciantes solos aren't his best. If you want to see the good stuff look at the one that says "John Frusciante Solo (1998-2007)"

  • While malmsteen sucks at creating music and his solos are obnoxious, saying he cant play the intro to Under the Bridge is a joke. That part of the song is so easy, he wasnt doing anything unique either, he was playing it regularly (if a little too fast), just because its an acoustic doesnt mean its emotional or special. Dont be such a fanboy, those circus shredders like Malm/Vai/Satriani arent popular for their crappy music, theyre popular for their ability to do literally anything on guitar.

  • Now if you said "I want to see Malmsteen WRITE this" then I would agree, Malmsteen could never write anything close to that.

  • I think it's from How Long..

  • what's the name of the song what john playing at 5:48 to 6:02??? PLS help me!!

  • I think it's Don't Forget Me

  • THX MAN!!! ;)

  • thats don't forget me. im not sure where that was though.

  • that last song on acoustic is called funky monks, its off of BSSM

  • what's the name of the last song that is being played on the acoustic? does anyone know? it's got a nice funky sound!!!! by the way, John Frusciante is a crazy guitarist!!!!!!

  • in 4:15

the video says : I Want to see malmsteen do this..

my opinion: malmsteen CAN'T do this. cause the music and the feeling that john brings out from the guitar is awesome , and noone can ever do it in the same as john does.

he is my hero, my idol, the reason that i have a guitar in my hands right now.

    LOVE U JOHN

  • yeah malmsteen blows. saw him live. funniest thing i ever saw. i don't care how fast you can play if it makes me feel empty

  • 0:57 ha ha at Anthony's dance

  • anyone knows which zeppelin cover was in the 1st solo?? i cant put my finger on it!!

  • It's " Bring It On Home "....L.Z.2

  • thanks man

  • bring it on home

  • Dont forget me is amazing!

  • Ik I love that song. I thot it was like a hard ass song to play but when i started learning it it was a lot easier than i thot

  • One very good reason why you just have to love the RHCP..the Brilliant and beautiful John Frusciante !

    Jane.

  • Oh ! Three other very reasons are Anthony Kiedis...Michael Balzary( Flea )and Chad Smith.

  • The If You Have to Ask solo is damn sexy. John is amazing.

  • I wasn't attacking the video, but the idea of 'the best' musician in general. And there are no 'lines' to read between. Also it's never a good idea to assume that someone doesn't really mean what they say, so that was my logic.

My point is you shouldn't go attacking other guitar players, especially ones who play completely different genres of music, just to make a point about how good another musician is. We all love and respect John, but that doesn't mean he's the greatest human ever lol.

  • first off its Yngwie Malmsteen, not whatever the hell you said. secondly Yngwie plays a completely different style of music the Frusciante so you may never hear him play that, but he could defiantly play it.

  • the first jam seems so much better then the original song.

  • i feel like my guitar playing is shit when I watch this video, even though Ive only been playing for almost a year

  • He play songs that no are more difficult, he can play better, but he are a very good player, but are others better much better. xP. Salu2

  • Being that John is one of my all time favorite guitarists, in one of my all time favorite bands, whose drummer IS my all time biggest influence, ever, I mean this is in the least offensive way possible.

No guitarist is 'the best', it is impossible to define 100% how 'good' a guitarist is, or any musician, because there are so many defining factors that make up a musician. Speed, technique, musicality, understanding of dynamics, soul, personal influence. The list could go on forever.

  • Therefore, we need to stop going around giving titles of 'best' or 'greatest'. They are all extremely biased or based on an insufficient amount of evidence. And there will never be a sufficient amount of proof to entitle someone as 'the best'.

So there's no point saying 'lets see yngwie do this'. I think we all know he could play the same melody, maybe not the same tone, or with the same amount of personal distinction, but that is what makes musicians unique, not what makes them better or worse

  • You need to learn to read between the lines. Obviously "best" is subjective. It would be ridiculous to have to put "in my opinion" before every subjective statement just so people won't get offended. It should be obvious.

  • one of the best men who ever lived, through hell and high water he came!

  • I can agree that Page and Frusciante and two of the greatest improvisers EVER. But Frusciante beats him in every other aspect.

  • pqp foda!!!

  • what song is he playing at 5:48? I know it but I forgot the name....It's beautifull

  • Don't forget me. :)

  • okay thanks :)

  • What song is it at 1:40?

  • yertle the turtle

  • at 2:15 Johny looks like Jesus:DDDDD I love you Johny!

  • john is the most innovative guuitarist in modern and 80s rock. jack white is just blues and pedals, mayer just copies srv and hendrix, and derek just adavanced slide guitar. john is the most original artist ever

  • ok, it seems i might have been misunderstood. my comments praised the shit out of john frusciante. i said that mayer is ovverated, and that the only guys who come CLOSE in modern day are white and trucks. frusciante's a fucking god.

  • oh my gosh..

i just came in my pants.

    john is great..

who needs the speedy techniques like yngwie!!!!!!?????

    its about making music.

not showing people what you can do with a piece of wood in your hands..

    haha.. that sounds funny.

    but really..

john plays all the right notes, who cares about how many you can play.. john itches my soul, i feel so funky right now.

  • Well Said!!

  • john frusciante is about as technically gifted as he gets. go to his shows, see the improvisation skills for yourself. the guy rarely plays the same song twice. and when he really wants to, ive seen him take his playing to a pedestal usually reserved for hendrix, page, clapton, satriani, etc. there is genius here. to be honest, i think the only modern day guys who can come close are jack white (and don't bitch about some of his basic riffs. the guy can shred) and derek trucks.

  • wow. i read some of these comments. all i have to say is, i've never understood where this love for john mayer comes from. i wouldn't put him in the top 20 contemporary electric guitarists. haven't seen a solo of his i couldn't pick up in 15 minutes. frusciante's admitted that he doesn't do the "guitar hero" thing. he doesnt dominate songs, he compliments them. and to the person with the walmart comment, they wouldn't know steve vai, buddy guy, albert lee. does that denounce their genius?

  • And i'm pretty sure any musically inclined 30 years woman WOULD know who The Red Hot Chili Peppers are (sure everyone knows Beethoven and Hendrix- but they sold themselves as their own names-- The Jimi Hendrix Experience, etc....-- the Chili's aren't called John Frusciante and the Chili Peppers... get what I'm saying?)

  • But its not called John Frusciante and the Chili Peppers because the entire band is just as talented and just as crucial as him, Anthony Kiedis is an incredible lyricist, and Flea is arguably the best bassist of all time, then Chad brings an awesome element to the band.

Plus Frusciante wasn't part of the original lineup and has only been in 5 of their 9 albums

  • Though I agree completely with all who put John's name with good intensions, I must comment that Chad Smith and Flea Balzary are the best at their craft... It is undeniable that the group of men that is RHCP are without a shadow of a doubt the best by all means at every feeling they put into the heaven we call Chili Peppers' music. Hunter

  • When you consider the amazing chemistry between Frusciante, Flea, and Chad-- that's where Frusciante's genius comes into play. He just works so well with the other two, and his work with MOOG effects is pretty remarkable. I think that's why people respect him so much, and consider him one of the most remarkable guitarists of the generation.

  • Bluesbrother-what specifically about Frusciantes playing do you think makes him overrated? In the last 20 years, I can't think of anyone with a more definitive sound that Frusciante. Sure, Mayer's a beast, but he borrows a TON from Vaughn (he got famous after being signed by an agent who saw him playing in a Stevie Ray cover band-- you can hear it in his vioce too). Frusciante plays passionately, and you can't take him at face value. (Continued)

  • i mean 5:20

  • I think it's californication

  • it's scar tissue

  • yea... scar tissue

  • what is the solo at 5:02

  • The guitarrist of Amon Amarth is very mutch better and more creatife than flea en fruscianty

  • Frusciante is a musical genious! reason why - Not many guitarists have came up with as many riffs and improvisations. The guy has 7 solo albums (and an 8th one is coming next year) and he still plays with a band as well and other numerous people. And not many people have gone through the same stuff as he has like his fight with heroin which nearly killed him. And guess what? he's still goin even after 20 years and you cant call him a legend or a musical genius?

  • nope, look he does have some funky ass stuff and he is a kick ass guitar player and he has his own style, but none of that makes him a musical genious, it just makes him creative. musical genious is a bit of a stretch. yea he has written some cool stuff that sounds amazing but i dont think hes a musical genious.... but i dnt think hes legend, if you go to walmart and ask a 30 year old woman who john fruciante is she probably wouldnt know, now if you ask her who beethoven or hendrix

  • than odds are she will say "yea ive heard of that guy", frusciante is only know within the realm of guitar players or musicians of any kind... now with that said, yea he is a badass and i think its an amazing thing that the kicked his addiction, but people act like he is the BEST to ever pick up the instrument. and hes not. Thats like me being a hugh sherrly crow fan and telling everyone that she is the best picker to play a tele since red volkaart are someting. do u c what i mean now?

  • I'm gonna bring it on home, bring it on home to you...haha Grandiosi: led zeppelin & rhcp!!!!!!!!

  • hes good guitar player but hes extremely overated, people are comparing him to john mayer and stevie ray vaughan and jimi hendrix and van halen. it makes me sick to my stomach that hes compared to them. just because he plays for a popular rockband and uses distortion doesnt make him good.

  • feel so sorry

u dont have any clue about music

    frusciante the best ever

  • far from the best ever, im sorry you dont know hendrix and vaughan and vai, petruci, guthrie govan. look them up and then tell me that this guy is the best

  • Is basicly impossible to call a guitar player as the best ever. That is and it has allways been just a marketing trick to keep the music world going on as a bussines. Music is much more than that, is about creativity, passion and specially make people feel. Hendrix, Clapton, Mayer, they are guitar gods, but under my point of view they are not better or worst than frusciante. Everybody experiments a diferent feeling with a diferent song so, i think nobody can judge whos the best.

  • no i don't think we should be say it like this, for us, the john frusciante fan's jf means a lot to us, i bet hundreds of thousands guitarrists began playing when they bought an album of the rhcp, and when john plays, you can really feel his emotion and the background of the note he's picking, but nevertheless, john would'nt be john if there was no flea antony or chad, maybe if he did'nt knew them, maybe he wasn't even playing guitar now, rhcp is rhcp but everyone has his own taste..

  • Can you please tell me why he's overated? Just because he doesn't plays extremely fast all the time? And can you please tell me where he's compared to Vaughan and Van Halen?

Frusciante is an musican genious, to bad you aren't able to figure that out..

  • read the message board on the rolling stones video where he plays with mayer and trucks. there are some extremely biased views on there from people who just dont understand the definition of a "genious". Hendrix, beethoven, mozart, highland are music geniouses not john frusciante. Hes good but hes far from a "musical genious". just go listin to him on the video and see how good he is with real talent. he has no wah or sidtortion on the video and he sounds sloppy

  • you suck

If you don't see how passionated with music and how good he plays you have to take a new set of eyeballs and ears or just go to your faggot club

  • if you want to put him in the realm of passionate guitar players than we can do that prick. go watch guys like johnny Highland, Joe Banassamma, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Mayer, Eric Clapton, or if you prefer rock than go look at van halen, billy gibbons, and guys like that and then tell me whos better, im not sayin hes not passionate but people who dont play guitar think hes God, hes far from it. the fact that he was even pictured with trucks and mayer make me sick and disgusted

  • he doesnt even use that much distortion

    exhibit a: eddie van halen

    he uses distortion

    does that mean he sucks?

  • but atleast you can hear what eddie is playing. first you have to go back and look at what a "good guitar player" is. a good guitar player can play anything and isnt handicapped when it comes to other music genres. He only sounds good with a wah pedal and distortian, there is nothing in this guy that i havent already heard from hendrix or zep.

  • hes the most creative and diverse MUSICIAN of our generation. much better than john mayer, while he's an awesome blues guitar player he is in no way any type of frusciante. SRV was on another level no one can emulate his vlues. the way hes going now hes gonna be up there with hendrix

  • Can anybody tell what the first song is and the song at 4:42.........oh and john frusciante rules so much, he is a great guitarist with so much emotion in his playing...legend

  • First one is "Power of Equality", second one is "Soul to squeeze" ;)

  • I actually believe that the first song is "Bring it on Home," a cover of a Led Zeppelin song.

  • Oh, you're right. I didn't remember the first minute when I answered ;)

  • bring it on home.

led zeppelin masterpeice, great job mr. frusciante.

as well as mr flea, mr smith and mr kiedus!

  • INSANE. He's awesome.

  • 4:49 hahahahah fucken great

  • does neone know wat scale he uses for scar tissue?

  • F major scale

  • Im sorry but NO 10 is Hillel Slovak so is nr 12

  • Not

Psychedlic Sexfunk live from heaven was already with John!

  • am i the one who listen to john each day???

  • Oh no :)

  • definetly not

  • the second theme is If you have to ask...

    it's for pinekpn

  • 1) led zeppelin cover 2) dont know 3) yertle the turtle improvised solo 4) parallel universe solo 5) throw away your television outro and jam 6) under the bridge intro 7) Soul to squeeze into 8) scar tissue solo 9) Dont forget me riff 10) dont know 11) Cant stop solo 12) subway to venus 13) dont know 14) get on top intro 15) funky monks intro
