i wouldn't dare to get drunk at a Pink Floyd concert (a fucking Pink Floyd concert), but if you do, just sing the songs, but this is just disrespectful, i guess tickets were real cheap at the time
Thanks for that uhOoo...I've always felt that way - but thought it was just me. I love Pink Floyd's music in part because Roger Waters' writing was so dark...and that's what the view looks like from my cheap seat...I can identify. But there's a fine line between genius and mental case!
I was there mid field. It was mostly the people in the front that were total assholes as I remember. They had a hard time to hear the monitors. There were so many people at this show and there WAS LOTS AND LOTS OF ACID BEING DROPPED AND ACID AND BEER DON'T MIX.
this is why marijuana is better than alcohol. not saying i wouldn't drink a little at a concert but weed is so much more chill and when your wasted you can't control yourself. i feel a little sorry for roger "this song's a little quiet, so lets keep quiet". hes saying that to a bunch of drunks. haha they aren't going to shut up at all
Sounds like these "fans" should have been at a Ozzy, or skynard concert. They dont have the philisophical minds to enjoy Pink floyd. Pink Floyd is thinking mans music not for these drunk ass rednecks.
@meatpole55 i never said anything about going to there concert if you dont like them. i was saying that just because people are brainless or whatever doesnt mean that they cant like pink floyd
@uh0oo It's an encore to a rock show. They should know it's gonna be loud. I'm sure no matter where you live, people at a rock concert are going to be loud. In your comment you're making it sound like the people cheering for a band aren't true fans. You just sound like an asshole.
@uh0oo Pink Floyd are revered as Gods in Montreal. It was the 70's and the drugs and booze were great. The Stad is a shit place to see a concert and I've seen my share there. By the time I saw Floyd there in 94 (seen them 6 times) the sound had improved a lot. Montrealers are a rowdy bunch who enjoy life and partying, they are not "rednecks" only an uncultured moron would claim that. If you don't know anything about the city refrain from comment.
At 6 PM, 30 000 people were inside already but the band was obviously not going to play until 8 PM came around. Now you have 30 000 people, anxiously waiting what has been advertised as the show of their lives, and they've got 2 hours in front of them of "doing nothing". What do they do?
In the end, how can you expect from a full stadium all of them going to listen in silence to your songs?
Fans kept yelling "assis" ("sit" in French) to the ones in front 'cause they couldn't see the stage. Anyways, that wasn't the only problem with that show: the sound was really bad at times and depending on where you were sitting, it was worse. It was the first rock show in the stadium after the '76 Olympics and sound engineers couldn't figure out the stadium. Emerson, Lake & Palmer had more success a month later because they had come to practice in the stadium the winter before.
I would love to hear this entire show just to see how it progressed. Everyone knows about Pigs on the Wing part 2 and Pigs (3DO). Pinkpigsheep1977 has done an excellent job posting some of the other songs from this set like Shine On part 2 and the encores. Thanks for another gem.
@budmaster666 I'm not sure if you ever got an answer to your [implied] request to hear this entire show, but for what it's worth, you can here a podcast of the entire show here: braindamage.libsyn.com/_oink_oink_roof_roof_baa_
No wonder they built the "wall" between them and the audience, when they had to deal with such stupidity.
keikoasmom 3 months ago
Is this the concert where Roger Waters famously spits at the audience and then goes on to write The Wall as a consequence?
philster611 4 months ago
they're saying "assis" which means "sit down" to the people in front of the stage.
