I know that Japanese have varying levels of tolerance and friendliness to gaijin, but do American and Japanese otaku get along very well? I know that some American nerds and otaku can be ridiculously loyal to their nerd following and loathe any other series/culture. (Naruto fans, anyone?) I assume that they disregard each other's nationalities and just say "Hey, we both like Gundam! Why not we be buddies?" Though that's just my optimistic and uneducated view on it.

Here in the states finding an entire shop with no sales tax is almost impossible. Only time I can remember NOT having to pay sales tax (or tariffs, rare as those are nowadays) is when Missouri declared the usual sales tax holiday during back-to-school shopping time (school supplies and shit).

this is where i bought my first master grade since i started gunpla again. it took me 2 hours to finally decide what gundam i should buy. they had everything and i only had to choose one. so i decided buying from my 2nd favorite (my favorite at that time) gundam series. the gundam wing series. i then cant decide weather to get the wing gundam, wing gundam ver ka, or the wing zero custom. i went w/ wzc just because of the wings. lolz.

My local hobby shop doesn't have ANY mecha kits; esp Gunpla. I tried sending a thoughtful E-mail to the owner about the matter a month or so ago but haven't received any reply since. I also made a desperate move via bringing and showing the cashier my small-scaled RX-78 Gundam while explaining what Gunpla was as a way to convince the shop to start selling them. Not sure if that had any effect (probably didn't).

And yes I do realize there's the Great Interblargz for such needs.

I tried filming in the store, but the clerk caught me and told me that cameras are forbidden. :( They aren't fond of free publicity. Whatever the price, this store has an incredible selection in stock. Plenty of model shops in Tokyo just cater to Gundam and other model kits, but Yodobashi has plenty other models. On my last trip to Yodobashi, I picked up Aoshima's Knight Rider and Airwolf models.

@rrobbert184 Once in a while they'll have a nice sale but generally you can find much better deals at other shops. Most of the time even their 'on sale' items will be around the same price as other shops. If you're a collector I recommend smaller 'liberty' stores like HOBBY. FIGURE and Mandrake.
