@aniswe1 On one level, this movie is quite offensive because it makes everyone look bad, but that's the point of this film as a black comedy- it pokes fun at everyone. It would probably be best for people to look at the message behind this movie- that the general public, especially Americans, are always surrounded by spin, so you should be aware of it and try not to be fooled. This movie might have been made in '97, but the concepts behind it still apply, esp. if you look at the '03 Iraq War.

I get the impression that the film is not really about Albania. The real story is exposing the News we watch as a fiction, made to manipulate the public to suit the requirements of the ruling oligarchs.

So in some ways the intention is not to be too factual - as it really could be any country of the world.

no it's not a secret, it's completely out in the open yet it's hidden from us. it's movies like this that condition to accept the awful truth. the media takes criticism, packages it with nice wrapping paper, and sells it back to us to counter the criticism. documentaries are really the only form of media that exposes the truth but even they get little done. People have to physically be motivated to do something, but we're not.we're to busy with our own stupid trivial lives to see the big picture
