  • @reedbrospainting HELL would i be? Better get in on fast, or I WILL lose it. Thanks already brother. I want to learn this cause im customizing a guitar. Got only one question ( tell me if not making it all clear in the video):

When you are finished, dont you need to coat it/seal it off with someting. Cause i would spray some transparant paint to finish the guitar off, but would it harm/wrinkle... the gold? Cheers and greetz from Holland

    Bruce

  • SICKSICKSICK work great job im inspired

  • My god...that is an amazing piece of art. I think I would cry if I ever saw a dent or a scratch on that. I hope whoever was paying for it really appreciates that kind of beauty. o_O Bet your back was sore after all that hunching over.

    and keep creating my brother,

    Very well done

    I stand is respect!

  • amazing

  • Is that just plain masking tape being used in the beginning?

  • @inger132 I use the same kind of masking paper that sign and vinyl shops use. If you go into a shop that does stickers and vinyl lettering they will sell it to you. I love it because it is low tack, you can draw on it, it is easy to cut out designs and it leaves no residue. Good luck and have a great day!

  • @reedbrospainting its called transfer tape.....airbrushing artist call it frisqet...frisket...idk how to spell it (fris....ket) idk its clled allota different things....maskin paper, stenciling vinyl..some ppl use pro grade vynal and the list goes on......check a couple out....those vinyl shops might be rippin ya off

  • just dustin that gold off like its nothing lol

  • What kind of plastic wrap is that in the beginning?.its bugging me.

  • man are ya gonna let anyone know what the red thing is or what geeze loadsa people askin but you aint replied to em is it top secret lol

  • Hi

how you do the spin effect? I'm trying to do something like that but...

  • magnificant

  • Great job! Pinstriping is demanding as hell but that was epic!

What is that red thing you are using to make spin patterns?

  • thats is fucking amazing b ro 5/5 man

  • GRRREAT job man ! greez from austria

  • NICE!!!

  • what do you use to apply the golden sheet on the tank? Some kind of glue?

  • Golden tank and golden hands... Tottaly awesome!

  • woooooow..... thats amazing! skilled out! 5/5!

  • It's not right that they only allow five star rating max sometimes! Absolutely beautiful work!

  • Very cool comment man. I appreciate it very much.

  • dam thats sick.... slow and stedy wins the race

  • complimenti compà 5 stelle

  • Fab

  • art man

  • sweet man! but were is it for?

  • hey! fresh work! looks super clean and beautiful! question: that thing you used for the swirls.. is that a gilding tool, or is that something you made? i love the effect, but i can't pull it off that clean!

  • NOW THATS GOLD LEAF 24K gold RAR!! Dont even bother watching the 2 chicks trying to do gold leaf guilding they have no clue.. Nice Swirls!!!! on that tank me and my old man do Boats gonna link a vid

  • He must have used HOK striping paint

  • Thats pretty swank man, Been fooling around with gold leaf for a little while, mostly just self taught trial and error, thanks for putting this vid out there, very helpful....

  • Damn nice work

  • SICK!!!!

  • That is WICKED!!

Hey can you use a light, tacky layer of clear coat as your sizing glue?

  • @wreakerofhavoc house of color makes a clear coat you can use as size. you can get it at coast airbrush. i still prefer 1shot size though.

  • Nice work. I am a painter as well and am looking to try my first leaf job. Did you use highsolid urithane clear and how did you apply it on your first coats. Anything special so you dont mess with the flake job? Any help would be great. Again nice work on this tank, a true work of art!

  • super brilliant!

Got some gold in india a couple of years ago. Now I am very inspired to do something with it.

    Cheers,

  • AWESOME JOB!!! but I do have to say, it looked pretty cool before the gold leaf, it almost looked like glass

    But as always awesome job!

  • That part did look pretty sic huh?

  • Great video!

I usually get my supplies from w.w.w.g.o.l.d.l.e.a.f.c.o.m.a.u (remove the extra .'s") I tend to buy when the Australian dollar is low (0.80c and lower) which makes it really cheap to buy.

  • dis abig help for starters thanx homie

  • First class job Man!!! 5*

  • what material and tool did you use to do the swirls in the leaf

  • what did u use to rub offf the excess gold leaf? and also what is the red squashy thing you use to get that twisted effect?

  • i used a cotton ball because it is soft. use something hard and it will scratch your gold leaf. the squashy thing is a spinner. see the comment above you for more! thanks for the comment.

  • nice work. did you make that spinner or what is it and where can i buy one?

  • Don't do like Alton Gillespie and eat that gold leaf. I saw him eat a whole 3 x 3 leaf at a sign meet that fell of his brush. He sucked it down before it hit the floor.

  • LOL! Ya well most of stripers aren't that sharp!

  • whats the las layer that you put on it is it to make it all shine what is it called?

  • clear coat

  • Sweet. Nice job!

  • With gold leaf like that, instead of texturing it, does it apply smooth enough to keep it solid and have it look good?

Amazing btw. those are the exact colors i want on a bike-- i just hope it looks as good at the end!

  • most beautiful thing i have ever seen done to a bike!

  • Hey question for you.

What type of masking paper are you using???

  • That's beautiful...

    Nice one.

    Love.

  • Crap music.

    incredibly nice pinstriping and leafing!

I want to know, however, what was the thing that you twisted ontop of the gold?

  • I know this music sucks...however I can not figure out how I can keep my music on without YouTube ripping it off. You can go to my website for the original music.

  • hey. what where you using to twist on the gold leaf? and where can i get my hands on some gold leaf?

  • you can make one yourself with a bolt , cotton , and some velvet

  • right on

  • Not really, real gold leaf is expensive but it is more trouble than its worth to try to save the dusted leaf. It is so thin that if you breath on it it blows away so it is almost imposible to save.

    Take it easy!

  • is all that gold leaf you dusted off of any value? or is it just garbage?

  • Ugh I'd be so horrible at pinstriping. lol I have the most unsteady hand on earth.

  • damn nice man great work on the leafing and great color combo this coming from an up and coming custom painter any advice or new things i should maybe try and do?

  • Thanks for the compliment man. If you have any questions or need some tips along the way you can reach me at 928-925-0685. I will do my best to help you any way I can.

  • well thanks man thats really cool of u and do u have an email address? maybe we can talk that way and i can send u some pics of some things i have done and maybe u can recommend some tips or some new things i should try and do

  • OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • if i only had the patients

  • WOW! What an awesome design. Im just starting in the leafing and striping and hope to be half as talented as you! God bless.

  • man, so incredible! nice work!

  • Thanks, I think gold leaf is the best technique to make something original.

  • absolutely dope! This is coming from an artist.

  • Thank you so much I really appreciate the compliment.

  • is there a brand name for the sticky stencil paper?

what do you use as size? and whats that funky burnishing/cleaning up red pad tool thing?

mad skills on the pinstriping, I envy you as only a person with major hand shakes can

  • holy shit now thats wot u call a skill

  • Thanks Keith! I dig doing the leaf work. I just wish more people wanted metal flake and gold leaf, I love doing the old school stuff.

  • very very very great work, man..you rock!

  • Thanks man! Getiing compliments like that make all the hard work worth it!

  • Impressive symmetry and finish - What is the background music?

  • Black Eyed Peas with Jack Johnson!

  • Nice man thanx for uploading this stuff realy learned alot:D

    P.S love that blue!

  • marvelous dude! what type of blue is that?

  • I used a metallic silver base and then used HOK Cobalt Blue Kandy Intensifier.

  • Too good man, Great Job

  • Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to say so.

  • Imitation gold leaf is fairly reasonable ($8-10/pack of 25 sheets). I use REAL 23 Karat Gold Leaf which costs me about $50/pack of 25 sheets. It can get expensive especially considering that the sheets are very fragile and they are small sheets. With this bike I wanted to use new - full sheets as much as possible so my cost was climbing.

  • Is Goldleaf Cheap to do??

  • Michael's sell really cool Varigeited REd/BLUE/GREEN gold leaf. Affordable too, 6.45 for a 6 pack...thats what I used to learn with.....

  • IF you wanna see some SICK PINSTRIPING.... search for EDDIE TORRES 2 curly Q style with a MACK 000

  • great stuff, so you like glue the gold leafs on the metal and whipe away gold that is not glued ?

  • I used whats called size (glue) and then when your window opens you lay down your leaf. After you have it completely covering your surface you VERY lightly remove the excess with a cotton ball. If you try the gold leaf...make sure that you do a test panel first. Your window to manipulate the gold leaf will change with the weather...heat, cold, humidity. In fact my window on this project changed after I got started. My test panel gave me 25 min. and into I had 15. Thanks for your post!

  • Nice lef' !!!!

  • ho much would that cost on a dodge intrepid.

  • Absolutely stunning work... thanks for sharing...

  • fantastic work, many compliments!!!

  • Awsome video! More people have got to see this!!
