Before 1975, S Vietnam was more modern and richer than Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. After the stupid liberation by the red vn from the North, VN is now way behind these countries. Just to say there is really no way to be accurate if Vietnam was really richer than Singapore, malaysia, ect... After WW2 they had a hard time pushing the French out.
