  • Pirouettes are one step in the ballet repertoire. It usually makes up less than 25% of male dancing. Why is everyone so obsessed with turns...? Irek had fantastic jumps, focus on the positive! :) He was a very powerful dancer. Many "great turners" cant get off the floor for jumps....and that is not very powerful. Too much focus on turning is boring, not dynamic enough in the long run

  • @balettoman YES BUT HE IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE GREATEST DANCERS OF HIS TIME WON A MOSCOW GOLD AND GRAN PRIX ,AND ME TOO LIKE HIM,SAW ALSO LIVE,IS GOOD ACTOR WITH GREAT DARAMMATIC IMPACT,BUT ONE SECOND TURN SECTION WITH TWO TURNS IS REALLY TOO POOR,WATCH LAVROVSKY OR VOLODIA VASILIEV DOING NINE OR TEN IN THIS SECOND SECTION,SURELY TURNING IS AN HIS WEAKNESS,BUT ALSO MAKAROVA OR PLITZESKAYA WERE NOT GREAT TURNER.OFF COURSE IS NOT ALL,BUT VASILIEV OR LAVROVSKY OR MICHA WERE TURNER AND JUMPERS.

  • @balettoman for a principle dancer, turns are not critical, but they are lovely to watch :P

  • agreed

  • never was a great turner
