  • I think Isis is much better (or at least more interesting) than Tool. They're not even in the same league to me, but I can see how others might disagree.

  • i cant believe these guys quit

  • Does anyone know what gauge strings they use?

  • @Augustburnsben heavy

  • @Augustburnsben They didnt quit... they accepted dignified death :D

  • @Augustburnsben They usually tune to open B or B standard tunings or at least in that general range. Try 13-56's.

  • That guitar is awesome.

  • is the guitar body made of aluminium? the neck i think is. It looks like a Travis Bean guitar.

  • @richicious It's an EGC and entirely aluminium. Google "Electrical Guitar Company".

  • is the guitar body made of aluminium?

  • That aluminum guitar sounds like shit

  • whats the first song?

  • @HarryHazaMUSIC It's some middle part from "20 minutes/40 years"

  • Troy TROY TROY

  • what tuning are they in?

  • @lukyganesh Bflat i think

  • Loving the silver guitar! I want one!

  • i think isis and tool are both amazing AND great. and i'm not really even comparing them at all by saying this. oh and tay zonday is cool in my book

  • what kinda guitar is that at :41?

  • Comment removed

  • @DrumBum561 its a new guitar company all aluminum guitars their just called electricalguitarcompany the melvins use them too

  • @neverforforever

When you say new... They have been around for about 5 years at least... well my EGC was born earl 2006

  • @orangie1 I know its not like cutting edge new stuff I'm just saying relative to most other decent guitar companies who've been around for 20 years or more their new

  • @neverforforever its "they're" not "their". I just wanted to keep correcting you since everyone else was lol

  • whats the opening song?

  • @DrumBum561 stone to wake a serpent

  • @shibbywalkk could be wrong.

  • @shibbywalkk nah its 20 mins/ 40 years not stone to wake a serpent

  • @DrumBum561 20 minutes/40 years

  • I love how they're so relaxed sat in front of the mixing desk playing along. Most recording sessions I've had aren't so informal. I wish mine were more laid back, then I might be able to play better without the engineer shouting down at me through the headphones, lol. Genius band.

  • R.I.P

  • Post rock delight! shame they broke up.

  • I cant believe these guys called it quits before I got to see them... I just learned about them when Wavering Radiant came out... and now I dont even get to see them live... this sucks.

  • It is not out of line to find some parallels between Tool and Isis. Isis is like a more mellow Tool, in my view. At least that is what I get from Wavering Radiant. I also hear hints of Uriah Heap and Deep Purple, but that probably predates anyone reading this.

  • Looks like the same custom made aluminum guitar King Buzzo plays.

  • @ichihentai Yeah, they're made by the Electrical Guitar Company as I recall.

  • Go Isis, go Danny Karey. =p

  • Tool and Isis are very different, and they are both awesome.

  • why compare isis and tool, they're not actually very similar in any way. lots of newer isis fans found out about them through tool. - that doesnt mean they have much in common musically. personally I think tool are pretty balls! :)

  • @CurtisSpiers Actually I thought some tracks off of Oceanic sounded like the perfect blend of Tool and Neurosis. On this album no the Tool sound is gone.

  • tool are legends and isis cant be compared to them.......and if you want intelligent music then listen to john coltrane!......i cant believe how people think this band is great

  • @ylju this is great

Tool is great too just more heard of

so stop bashing on them they're great

at least they aren't a hardcore studio edited generic band

  • Chance has graced me with a gift!

  • R.I.P Isis, your music will never die.

  • r.i.p. isis

  • Too bad that ISIS split! They are one great band and I hope that the members go on to make some more great music

  • @72twist Undoubtedly they will bro. I'm right there with ya on that one. Respect.

  • Thats one sexy guitar!

  • what kinda guitar is that, it looks like its all silver, even the fretboard!

    thats awesome

  • buzz from melvins has one. its by the electrical guitar company or osmething..

  • Electrical Guitar Company...it's made entirely out of aluminum...they're amazing...i have a bass by them on the way.

  • what is the name of the song??

  • @ateeeenaxa8eis Im pretty sure its 20 Minutes/40 Years.

  • That fretboard must be nice to play on.. probably take some getting used to, but vibratos and everything must be awesomely smooth lol.

  • neither isis or tool...or any of great music for that matter cant be trivialized by giving it a šanr...its just music...the truth the pure essence the soul...

  • Comment removed

  • what kind of sexy guitar is that at 1:25

  • it's an electrical guitar company guitar.... google it.. pretty cool stuff... Steve Brooks in Torche uses one as well

  • mirror guitar is awesome

  • Isis = Post/Drone/Sludge Metal

    Tool = Progressive Metal

  • More psychedelics.. That sounds bad ass!

  • isis is post m and tool is prog m

  • I believe Adam Jones is on this album, unless Wikipedia lies to me.

  • yeah he plays in ghost key and i think another song

  • hall of the dead and keyboards on wavering radiant

  • @TheSeig3 yes he plays keyboard on Ghost key and i think guitar on hall of the dead,

  • indeed both bands are amazing. :D

  • ISIS AND TOOL ARE AMAZING!!!!!

  • my 2 favourite bands

  • @Xavierrex3 Agreed. I met these dudes in person, they were pretty down to earth. No gimmicks no fake shit, just down to earth metal dudes.

  • @Xavierrex3 Why are you mentioning these two COMPLETELY different bands in the same sentence? They're not even the same damn genre, great you like tool, but this is an isis vid. gtfo nub D:<<

  • Comment removed

  • @LiftYourSkinnyFist

They're both very intelligent bands and they're song structures are both very long and philosophical. As you could see up where my comment is, I was agreeing with what Orgsgrym was saying, Yes I know that, Isis is Post Metal and Tool is Progressive Metal that's not what I was trying to say. Isis is one of those bands that tries to be so different from everyone else that they sound unique, also with Tool they have a REALLY different sound from everyone else

  • @Xavierrex3 Ah I understand. Good point.

  • @LiftYourSkinnyFist also who is that big of a fan to bitch about a genre of music? This video is amazing I love both genres Prog Metal and Post Metal they sound similar, Post Metal is a bit more ambient/sludgy then Prog.

So I don't know why you're bitching at me liking bands that kickass, if you already like them.

  • Wtf? You cannot compare Isis with Tool. Both bands are great.

  • you actually can "Tool is Progressive Metal"

    and "Isis is Post Metal"

  • @Orgsgrym ..Yes you can. They both have really long jams in their songs and are both very progressive and take creative control over their music and videos. Besides the screaming lyrics they're pretty similar,a nd even their lyrics touch upon similar themes.

  • @Orgsgrym You are correct in every sense possible :)

  • @Orgsgrym You just did

  • ...except tool

  • @Orgsgrym i saw isis open up for tool they were both amazing. I don't understand why you can't compare two bands though. You can compare anything to anything else

  • @Orgsgrym you just made a comparison by saying that.

  • @hojima

Yeah? Both bands are playing a different genre. You don't need to compare this 2 bands to get to such a wonderful result, it's just a little bit brainwork.

  • @Orgsgrym A comparison is showing what is similar. They are similar in that they are both great. (and approach music from a seemingly similar perspective, bring an intellectualism to metal, and both have bassists that tend to move outside of the norm by using effects pedals to create different-ish sounds)

  • @hojima

A comparison is helpful or meaninful, when they are more than a few similarities. I can even compare (the extreme example) Jesus with Hitler and i will find some similarities, but this would be senseless, like this discussion. Both bands are great, but in their own and separate way, because of their own and separate music. I'm not comparing Isis with Tool, just looking at the music of both bands in a separate way and mention it in one sentence, but anyway great homework dude.

  • @Orgsgrym THAT IS A A COMPARISON. a comparison shows what is similar. saying they are both great compares them.

  • @hojima I never compared them. I just said, that both bands are great, in their own seperate way.

  • @Orgsgrym I'm saying that saying they are both good is comparing them. They are similar in that they are both great.

  • @hojima

Don't waste your time, explaining me your complete illogical way of thinking.

  • @Orgsgrym You don't get it do you? I was making a joke about the actual definition of a comparison. I love both bands, I think they are similar in many aspects of the way they approach music. Please, bro, learn to take a joke better.

  • @hojima

I actually don't saw any jokes or funny things in your comments. Thats the reason, why "i don't got it". ;)

  • what song is that riff at the start of the video from?

  • all the song is 20 minutes/40 years

  • seeing these at the end of the month

    gona be mint =]

  • Im a huge TOOL fan and just learned of these guys, I think I will like them, and the fact they use a crazy ass tuning has earned them cool points already

  • thats how i discovered them, huge tool fan for years, and then i saw something about them on their website earlier this year, looked them up, loving every single one of their songs since

  • I love Tool. I found these guys a few weeks ago and they're pretty damn awesome.

  • They are so so much better than Tool.

  • No i wouldnt say they are better than Tool lol Lets be honest. Go listen to Lateralus and talk to me after :) Not sayin Isis isnt good because they are pretty fucking epic

  • Incredible band, i believe musically they are the greatest band to ever grace the music industry

  • theyre songs are perfect

  • that is a shiny guitar.

  • id buy one if they werent worth 2,5 k

  • what tuning is this

  • Isis's primary tuning is BF#BEG#B, but they sometimes tune the low E down to F#.

  • For what tracks do they tune the lowest string to F#??

  • Holy Tears is one of them, and I think there's some more.

  • what an awesome guitar!!!!!!!!! that is just killer.

  • Aaron's new guitar is sick! does anyone know what kind it is?

  • its an Electric Guitar Company Custom guitar they are made from aluminum (they say its more resonant than wood)

    Hope that helps

  • i see it. like i said thats the song i least listen to on the cd but i guess i should pay more attention.

  • 20 minutes/40 years around 4:00min.

  • It is all the same song, 20 minutes/40 years.

  • Im gna see this this wednesday 6/24/09

  • the best song on wavering radiant

  • that first part is chilling. i love that riff. So much feeling.

  • While it is a different brand, the aluminum Guitar seems to be based on the Travis Bean aluminum neck guitars.

  • Joe Satriani may have his "Chrome Boy", but that's a Chrome Man!

  • wow that sounds so cool

  • thats what i call a metal guitar ;)
