  • good, excelent video, and thank you someone mentioned TT scale, I think I'm the only serious private collector in this gauge here in the U.S. Come on people nobody beats the german technology, they don't make stuff in China (exept PIKO: no offense).

  • These Lok is not from Maerklin. It's 1 Gauge-Lok by KM-1 Modellbau.

  • Wow! Great live steam functions. Is this in Marklin 1 gauge or in HO? It's sort of hard to tell.

  • @KingBuick Its gauge 1... but not by maerklin. This is KM1. By the way you can always tell if its Gauge 1 or H0- The H0 rails have small bumps in the middle of the rail (this is where the energy comes to the train) because of this system H0 also allows to build slopes. you cant do this with gauge 1 as it would cause a shortcut- but there are special rail pieces with a hole in the middle to prevent this shortcut in a slope but it doesnt work too well with many locomotives

  • @Buemmo Thanks for the info. on the brand. I've never heard of it before.

Btw, I do know how to tell which gauge is which, but thanks for telling me!

  • @KingBuick sure.

The most popular is H0 (half 0) with 1:87 (beware there are some different electricity systems among the H0 producers)

    then Gauge 1 with 1:32,

    N-Gauge with 1:160,

IIm gauge (mostly garden live steam) with 1:22,5 ,

Z Gauge (smallest in the world!) 1:220,

TT(mostly in eastern germany) with 1:120 and

    0 gauge with 1:43,5 or 1:45

you may find some other gauges, too but these are the most common ones

  • @Buemmo Thanks for telling me this information. I'll make sure to look it over!

  • @Buemmo and btw: its not live steam. it only looks like it because of the advanced smoke generator

  • @Buemmo OK. So most 1 gauge models aren't live steam?

  • @KingBuick yes. You´ll find more live steam models in larger gauges (and also most of them are scratch built) but there are some really good 1 gauge steam models produced in the UK. Mearklin produced a few live steam gauge1 locos some time ago. A small loco, a BR18 and a BR44. But these models arent known for there reliability. They work really bad in fact.

  • @Buemmo Over here, in the US, most Marklin collectors prefer HO scale, rather than 1 and Z. 1 is super expensive and too big. Z is too small and badly made, in my opinion. HO is just right!

  • @KingBuick sure. 1 is expensive but quality and detail are way higher than some Gauge 1 made in US (i saw some models made in US at the toy fair nuernberg and they were around 700$ ... made of plastic and not of metal, some pretty lush sound generator and so on...)

  • @Buemmo That's true. Marklin's 1 gauge models are made mostly and sometimes even all of metal. That's why they're so expensive. And the fact that they're limited edition models being made constantly makes Marklin 1 even rarer and expensive to find and keep.

What US brands did you see in 1 that were bad? Lionel, or some brands like that?

  • @KingBuick mostly Lionel. Well it´s net really bad but its a diffenent level than maerklin or KM1

  • @Buemmo I see. Lionel and all the other American model railroad companies aren't really bad. It's just that the European model train makers have an excellent quality build for their trains.
