I was the first in the world to do the LS1 conversion on the Porsche 911 and 914.
Scott at Renegade will attest to this. I visited with Scott last time I went to Las Vegas. He is a fine gentleman who is proud of my accomplishment and has complimented me positively for my projects.
@toyjet2000 do you use any of his parts? and i do like your rides man they are clean. my dad had a a914 with a zz4 in it. 911 break kit. it was stolen right out of my driveway. miss that car
I love it!! This video was so hard to find.. I have been thinking about this conversion for a while.. Now I see that someone did it. with GREAT TASTE!!!!
GREAT VIDEO (Please add some more tags to it will be easier to find)
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
Nice work toyjet!!! Good to see a fellow defiler of PCars. I went with a NA old school small block. (click on my tag to see)
Be safe, you're not kidding about the brakes....check out Renegade, they have a kit for all 4 corners for about $1200, better than the C2/C4 conversions and cheaper.
I know this guy, the clip doesn't do his cars justice. They are bad ass hands down....especially thie silver 911. One of the fastest in Galveston County
OK, just saw Toy Rocket :-) That's a subject near and dear to my heart... Can you post some suspension specs? What springs/struts did you use to get that stance? Are you running bigger brakes to haul that LS1 down?
Thanks for viewing the site, I just had to be different. I bought my car almost new from the original owner and I just could not see myself cutting on it. I guess one of these days I will get pass the sentimental value.
Radiator system for use on automobiles having rear engines Patent no.(6505696) Filed: March 5, 2001 Issued: January 14, 2003 Go to yahoo then type in USPTO then: Click on United States Patent and Trademark Office. Click on Patent Click on Search Patent Click on Quick Search In the Term 1 field enter 6505696 FYI This patent was submitted after the research and development of the cooling system for my LS1 conversions.
Interesting. OK. I have reached out to the WI gentleman for his response. Out of curiosity, for what did you receive a patent on this conversion? Thanks!
Cool conversions. One claim you make, however, is not factually accurate. These are NOT the original conversions to LS1-based engines in a 914. That title goes to a Wisconsin man who fabricated and who has been driving and racing his for nearly 5 years. It recently sold on ebay.
Thanks!!!

I did my fist LS1 conversion in 1999;

No, I do not, although Renegade produces a good LS1 kit, from what I have read and seen.
Just to end this debate:
I am not claiming I did the first V8 conversion. I think that title goes to Rod Simpson out of California.
As I stated earlier, I produced the first LS1 kit and did the first LS1 - 911& 914 conversion.
I will have to admit though, Renegade made V8 conversions more popular than any other conversion shop that I know.
Thanks for your inquiry.

I have the stock 1974 suspension. I bought this car, took the flat four out, and then just dropped in the LS1.
I did not upgrade the brakes but I need to.
It is hard to stop when de-accelerating from 140mph.
