Being Filipino is a MIX race! We have Malaysian, Indonesian, Spanish, Arabic (there were sultans in the Philippines that ruled).....so yeah--we are a mixed race to begin with.

@pinaypk Something that I notice is that in Latin America the Non-Mestizo looking white Latino actor and newscasts are usually feature in Spanish TV. Count how many Mestizo and whites there are in telmondo and other Spanish Channel. He once told me that he had sibblings light hair, hazel eyes and light skin. He said that even he was hapa spanish/Ilocano. Then he married a lady of Puerto Rican Parents. That brought Spanish, French, American Indian (Taino) and Black into the mix. So my mom and her sibblings are multimationals.

I'm 75% Mexican and 25% Filipino. Since I obviously look more Mexican I've always been put into the category of being Mexican or Hispanic. At first it felt strange to be told by others that I was pure Hispanic, but I learned to accept it and eventually started labeling myself as "Mexican." Now that I'm older I see the importance of emphasis of both cultures, since after all, both races complete my identity, and to deny one would be leaving out an important part of who I am.

Information for everybody. Pigmentation is not what determins race, its the bone structure(face, body etc). Example. Greeks have dark hair and black eyes, but they are whites. Black peolple with blue eyes and red hair are consideres black. I think you get the point. The Philippines is composed of 80% Malay mixed with Han Chinese people. Only 15% are pure chinese and 4 % are the ones mixed with caucasian blood(some are half, some a 3/4)

The thing is, what they teach in the Philippines is severely outdated. The theory that Filipinos migrated from Malaysia and Indonesia has long been discarded...since the 70's in the professional field. The theory accepted today is that Filipinos are Austronesians

@HumpyDumpy2010 Actually, back in '85 when I was born, this info was still on there. Further, Stanford university performed a nationwide DNA census about the Philippines in 2003. Go and have a look. Caucasian descendants don't exceed the 4% boarder. Pure Han-Chinese are 5%, Han-Malay are 20%. Most of the rest are pretty much Malay.

Erm.. what I noticed, for my Filipino, Chinese and Korean peers are much more interested in the heritage issue than the Europeans. Good video. But why is that if one is half caucasian and half african american they are always african american. President Obama states that he is the First African American president. He was raised by his caucasian mother and her caucasian parents. I believe that he only met his african father a few times. For example the lighter skin, the thicker fuller brown hair, the SPANISH LAST NAME that is proof those features belonged to a mixture of Spanish and Filipino (recently). Ainu, Aborigine, Malay, Indonesians, came to the Philippines long b4 the Spanish. Spanish conquered Philippines (RECENT) and if you get more Spanish and mixed Filipino and spanish mixing for 400 yrs those features/genes are dominant.

Count how many Mestizo and whites there are in telmondo and other Spanish Channel. He once told me that he had sibblings light hair, hazel eyes and light skin. He said that even he was hapa spanish/Ilocano. Then he married a lady of Puerto Rican Parents. That brought Spanish, French, American Indian (Taino) and Black into the mix. So my mom and her sibblings are multimationals.

I'm 75% Mexican and 25% Filipino. Since I obviously look more Mexican I've always been put into the category of being Mexican or Hispanic. At first it felt strange to be told by others that I was pure Hispanic, but I learned to accept it and eventually started labeling myself as "Mexican." Now that I'm older I see the importance of emphasis of both cultures, since after all, both races complete my identity, and to deny one would be leaving out an important part of who I am.

Information for everybody. Pigmentation is not what determins race, its the bone structure(face, body etc). Example. Greeks have dark hair and black eyes, but they are whites. Black peolple with blue eyes and red hair are consideres black. I think you get the point. The Philippines is composed of 80% Malay mixed with Han Chinese people. Only 15% are pure chinese and 4 % are the ones mixed with caucasian blood(some are half, some a 3/4)

@savvy1954 Filipinos are not "Malaysian" descendants, but AUstronesians. In the first place, Malaysia pertains to a nationality of someone who is from Malaysia (be it Sabahan, Chinese, Indian, Eurasian, Malay).
The thing is, what they teach in the Philippines is severely outdated. The theory that Filipinos migrated from Malaysia and Indonesia has long been discarded...since the 70's in the professional field. The theory accepted today is that Filipinos are Austronesians

@HumpyDumpy2010 Actually, back in '85 when I was born, this info was still on there. Further, Stanford university performed a nationwide DNA census about the Philippines in 2003. Go and have a look. Caucasian descendants don't exceed the 4% boarder. Pure Han-Chinese are 5%, Han-Malay are 20%. Most of the rest are pretty much Malay.

BTW, that Han-Malay is a "guestimate" by Kaisa Heritage. THe pure"Han" Chinese estimates is at 2%, not 5%. And one more thing, since the 70's Malay has fallen into use among professionals as it is an exclusive term to refer to the Malay-speaking people of Malaysia and Southern Thailand as well as Singapore. The proper term to refer to native Filipinos would be "Austronesian".

Hey, hang-on. I'm half. I grew up and went to school and university in both the Philippines and Germany. Most of those half people I met, only grew up in one place. Erm.. what I noticed, for my Filipino, Chinese and Korean peers are much more interested in the heritage issue than the Europeans. Personally speaking, since I grew up in both places, I side with the Asian side of me rather the Eruopean one

I was referring in general terms. Europeans for most part, don't cae where a person comes from. Asians normally do. Ethnic heritage is a really big issue in Northeast and Southeast Asia.

Keesmenek, yes Pakistan is in Asia but the Pakistani people are broken down into three sub groups, Indo-Iranic, Indo Aryan & Dardic. All 3 of these groups belong to the Caucasian race. Good video. But why is that if one is half caucasian and half african american they are always african american. President Obama states that he is the First African American president.
