Well since we werent expecting it for another month and I'm in a different state I will have to come back, since you can't fly here (being actually preggers and all) and I need to be where the baby is actually born to pull this off. However, I cant say I'm in labor or I can't fly, so I have to fake that I'm fine, give a speech and then fly back. But to urgently fly back I'll need a reason so I'll be in labor but just not very much.
I never payed attention to this rumor but I have to admit this clip makes me wonder. Bristol is the one who looks pregnant in the pictures and the pictures of Palin don't show any indication that she's pregnant. Not even a small belly. I had a friend in middle school who had it and had to be hospitalized and only came to school for half days when she could even make it. I am no fan of Sarah Palin. I can't tell you how relieved I am that she is NOT going to be VP. Having said that, I can say that not every woman shows her pregnancy. I only gained 20 lbs with my pregnancy. My daughter weighed 5lbs 4 ounces at birth. She was 22 inches long. No one could tell, by looking at me, that I was pregnant for the entire length of my pregnancy. And my daughter was a full term baby. As someone else said, not every woman is huge during pregnancy.

I didn't show for most of my pregnancy due to low amniotic fluid. I also walked around in labor for three days before going into active labor. Not every woman looks like she swallowed a beach ball when pregnant. So this video doesn't prove a thing.
I was told in all my pregnancies not to travel during the last trimester. As ALL pregnant women are.If you know your baby has downs syndrome what an irresponsible uncaring mother to travel at this time in pregnancy. As to the supposed contradiction of the article about the active labor: by "comfortable with active labor" what was meant was that the governor, having already had 4 children, and 4 labors, knew the difference between the beginning stages of labor (which can take weeks sometimes, and is not usually painFUL) and ACTIVE labor, with harder, more painful contractions. It's entirely possible that her labor had slowed, or even stopped by the time she got on the plane.

You're just flat out wrong on this. Palin herself has acknowledged the baby was a month early. And that Trig is a Down baby and she knew this in advance. Nothing about the onset of this labor was comparable to her previous deliveries.
Wrong. "Early labor" is a medically defined term. It starts when your water breaks and the first contractions begin. EXACTLY where the Guv was. And it lasts for anywhere from 2 to 24 hours in most caes. Meaning: Early labor could have easily become "active labor" during the Guv's 8 hour plane ride, or the two hours of Keynote address etc. that preceeded it.
Actually your water does not break during early labor normally. If it does, that's called premature rupture of membranes. No doctor would EVER tell her to keep going if that happened. Because of the risk of infection and stillbirth, this is an immediate indication for induction or augmentation of contractions to get the baby out. This supports your theory since Gov Palin wouldn't know that but a doctor (or me a med student) would.
At 21 with my second child, my water broke, but not a full break, more like a drip. I was advised to come in immediately and was monitored for a week until I gave a dry birth. The drip is constant and it would have been very embarrassing to give a speech. I felt no pain however. Her story sounds fishy.

Well, she might be carrying weight from the first pregnancy. It would be easier for her now making public appearances not having to explain the weight. As an OB, I can tell you that when a mother is in labor with a premature (preterm) baby, INTRAVENOUS antibiotics (not by mouth)need to be given IMMEDIATELY to the MOTHER during labor to protect the baby against GBS infection AND a neonatologist should be present at the time of delivery. Unless Palin's doctor was looking for a lawsuit, there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that she was ok'd to get on an 8hr flight! BTW Alaska Air's flight from Fortworth to Anchorage has a LAYOVER!

Because while they can indeed be in labor for three days, not too many medical professionals would say "therefore locking yourself in an enclosed space 35,000 feet in the air for eight hours after early labor commences is a wise decision." because of course, many MORE labor periods are far shorter than three days...
I would also like to add that labor almost always gets shorter with subsequent pregnancies. So if Trig was Palin's fifth, she could very well have been giving birth by the end of that speech.

I'm a medical doctor and deliver babies. There is no way a woman who had 4 vaginal births, would make it 11+hrs to fly to Alaska and then drive to her home town to deliver. She would have delivered this baby within a few hours of breaking her water. Case closed.

Well since we werent expecting it for another month and I'm in a different state I will have to come back, since you can't fly here (being actually preggers and all) and I need to be where the baby is actually born to pull this off. However, I cant say I'm in labor or I can't fly, so I have to fake that I'm fine, give a speech and then fly back. But to urgently fly back I'll need a reason so I'll be in labor but just not very much.

I never payed attention to this rumor but I have to admit this clip makes me wonder. Bristol is the one who looks pregnant in the pictures and the pictures of Palin don't show any indication that she's pregnant. Not even a small belly. Also, I've seen on another site that showed what Palin looked like during her first pregnancy and she was as big as a house! Now with her fifth child she doesn't show the entire pregnancy? I'm starting to understand why they think Bristol is Trig's mother.

I had a friend in middle school who had it and had to be hospitalized and only came to school for half days when she could even make it. When I had it, I basically laid in bed for two months (during the summer of course). And my friend's uncle got it and it was so bad they thought he had liver cancer and almost put him on chemo!

I am no fan of Sarah Palin. I can't tell you how relieved I am that she is NOT going to be VP. Having said that, I can say that not every woman shows her pregnancy. I only gained 20 lbs with my pregnancy. My daughter weighed 5lbs 4 ounces at birth. She was 22 inches long. No one could tell, by looking at me, that I was pregnant for the entire length of my pregnancy. And my daughter was a full term baby. As someone else said, not every woman is huge during pregnancy.

As to the supposed contradiction of the article about the active labor: by "comfortable with active labor" what was meant was that the governor, having already had 4 children, and 4 labors, knew the difference between the beginning stages of labor (which can take weeks sometimes, and is not usually painFUL) and ACTIVE labor, with harder, more painful contractions. It's entirely possible that her labor had slowed, or even stopped by the time she got on the plane.

1) body shapes/weight gain can be very variable between different pregnancies even for the same woman
2) there are different stages of labour - her first slow labour pangs mentioned observed in Texas were very different from "active" (hard) labour
3) women CAN be back at work 3 days later, esp if it was a month early and therefore small AND it's a woman's 5th child.

You're just flat out wrong on this. Palin herself has acknowledged the baby was a month early. And that Trig is a Down baby and she knew this in advance. Nothing about the onset of this labor was comparable to her previous deliveries.

Wrong. "Early labor" is a medically defined term. It starts when your water breaks and the first contractions begin. EXACTLY where the Guv was. And it lasts for anywhere from 2 to 24 hours in most caes. Meaning: Early labor could have easily become "active labor" during the Guv's 8 hour plane ride, or the two hours of Keynote address etc. that preceeded it.

Actually your water does not break during early labor normally. If it does, that's called premature rupture of membranes. No doctor would EVER tell her to keep going if that happened. Because of the risk of infection and stillbirth, this is an immediate indication for induction or augmentation of contractions to get the baby out. This supports your theory since Gov Palin wouldn't know that but a doctor (or me a med student) would.

At 21 with my second child, my water broke, but not a full break, more like a drip. I was advised to come in immediately and was monitored for a week until I gave a dry birth. The drip is constant and it would have been very embarrassing to give a speech. I felt no pain however. Her story sounds fishy.

I'm not sure if I do or don't believe this all. But my uncle had mono for 8 months. I had a friend who was out of school with it for 5. She was a fairly sickly person though, so I'm sure that had an effect.

Well, she might be carrying weight from the first pregnancy. It would be easier for her now making public appearances not having to explain the weight. We will see in some months how pregnant she really is and if by some twist of fate she has a miscarriage. This story is not new and was reported before her nomination.

Trig IS Bristol's baby. As an OB, I can tell you that when a mother is in labor with a premature (preterm) baby, INTRAVENOUS antibiotics (not by mouth)need to be given IMMEDIATELY to the MOTHER during labor to protect the baby against GBS infection AND a neonatologist should be present at the time of delivery. Unless Palin's doctor was looking for a lawsuit, there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that she was ok'd to get on an 8hr flight! BTW Alaska Air's flight from Fortworth to Anchorage has a LAYOVER!

women can be in labor for 3 days sometimes. my brother belly looks like that big deal. my friend hardly showed w/ her third baby, she got smaller each time she got pregnant. you could barely tell she was pregnant!

I'm a medical doctor and deliver babies. There is no way a woman who had 4 vaginal births, would make it 11+hrs to fly to Alaska and then drive to her home town to deliver. She would have delivered this baby within a few hours of breaking her water. Case closed.

Fluid = go have teh baby. If baby is special needs & you're in TX (where they have madd amazing hospitals 4 that) what the hell do u fly back to AK? The friggin' plane flight & pressure changes would set you into "active" labor in the event someone was ACTUALLY pregnant, in pre-LABOR and ON A PLANE. I was in the damn hospital still 3 days after my pregnancy. Since the kid was premie & had down synrome, there's no way in hell mom was off cutting ribbons somewhere 3 days later. But Grandma, maybe.

Hey Ampers, I don't accept the story they are putting out. I don't believe for one minute that she gave birth to that baby. The whole story doesn't add up.
The most damning part of this is that no doc would have signed off on her getting on a plane without getting checked first. And if she did disregard doc orders, she's a reckless "maverick"...child endangerment comes to mind.
I suspect that Bristol will pop that baby out way ahead of schedule and at a healthy weight.
