@plunka5 On a unicycle, if you fall, the unicycle slips forward or backward from under you, meaning you almost always land on your feet, since only the unicycle turns, not your body. On a bicycle, if one wheel hits something but the other doesn't, you flip forward, meaning you can hit your head. There aren't two wheels on a unicycle, meaning this can't happen. Since you almost always fall on your feet, they use shin guards rather than helmets.
