  • Thankyou for the lovely performance.I like your unhurried pace, your sure fingering, negligible, string noise.Mr. Bellinati would be hard pressed perform his own composition as well.

By the way ...you're due for a better guitar!

  • @troubleclef where are you from friend?

  • @lorenzimarcus

boston, mass, USA. thanks for watching

  • @troubleclef Ah... I can't wait to move back to Mass. Of course, I'm biased. Haha. On a more relevant note, your playing is beautiful! My father also plays the classical guitar, and I play the violin, and we play all sorts of duets whenever I go up there to see him.

  • Beautiful piece of music and sensitively performed.

Your choice of music brings to light musicians I didn't know.

  • @GeorgeSpan

    thanks!

  • DO U BELIEVE IN THE PREVIOUS LIFES? I DO DO. WHEN I LISTEN TO THIS, I GOT A BLUES

  • Nice performance of a beautiful tune! I'm just becoming familiar with Bellinati's compositions. Years ago I purchased two volumes of Garato's music which were compiled (as I recall ...) by Bellinati. I also have heard his recordings of Garato's music, but was unaware of his own work. Thanks for this! BTW, Tony, do you play any of Garato's music? I know it would sound great in your capable hands..... Jack in San Diego

  • @smilinjack11

thanks, Jack. Yeah, I did "tristezas de um violão" by Garoto. it may show up on the 'related videos' panel of this here clip, or look for it in my channel. cheers.

  • o cara é bom sabe pq olha o tamanho daa cabeça dele !kk brincadeiraa o cara é um genioooo ;D

  • Hi troubleclef....thanks for your response. Yes, I'd really like to post a version someday, once I get it polished. I've also been working on bits and pieces of "Valsa Brilhante" although it's way beyond my level to play it in its entirety. I feel like I need another lifetime to be able to learn how to play all this music I love! Anyhow, it's great to meet others like you who share the love of brazilian music and guitar...will look forward to hearing your next video! :)

  • Beautiful rendition...thanks for sharing. I'm working on this one right now. I believe the 'slowness' of it is deceptive because the more you dig into the song, the more the nuance and expressive elements of Bellinati are discernible (I'm learning it by ear), so it's a lot harder to play than it seems! And even with its bare bones of melody, what a gorgeous composition by Bellinati, eh? Timeless!

  • @XicaDaSilva22

yes, he certainly has a knack for the timeless. i look forward to learning more of his music.

also, will you be posting a version? this tune is unjustly under-represented here on the youtube.

  • This is such a difficult piece: you've worked so hard (I guess) and your articulation and feeling are just excellent. I've seen Bellinati play this at close range, and you play it within a hair of his definitive performance!

  • thank you. he is so good, though, i don't come close.

  • You are terrific. I wish I could play like you. I can't... I know the hard work it develop talent like yours. I want to hear more of your work.... what a joy it is to hear you.

I am off to NYC for a week. Do you know any good guitar shops there?

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • Hi Peo, yes there's a great place in the Village that's basically this woman's townhouse filled with classical guitars for sale. (just can't think of the name right now). it's pretty famous, though, if you ask around someone will know what you're talking about. have fun.

  • Thanks a lot Tony,

I will have a look. Leaving tomorrow morning!

  • Whenever I get married I'm asking you to play at the reception ;)

  • Thank you, this is very beautiful again.

  • You always make it look so easy! For some of those spreads I would have to use one foot and both hands. So smooth, Senhor! Thank you so much for this.

  • yeah, there's a couple in there that made my hands hurt for sure. i found while learning this piece that i could only dedicate a half hour a day to it without getting too much pain

  • Enchanting.

  • Ah, quite beautiful. As always! I look forward to the next one. :)

  • this was so soothing I went to sleep before it was over and had to play it again to finish it.

  • Nice, as always.

  • Hello, troubleclef

I´d like to know your name and something about your bio!

    Regards from Brazil

    Marvelous work !

    Julio

  • My Lord. In this age of electronica and robotic sounds that are recorded for listening pleasure, a time when refrigerator hums masquerading as "music" are featured at a "concert," listening to you play that instrument helps me believe that not everything pure is lost.

  • Nothing excellent piece. Just wondering what is your all time fav piece of music that you like to play.

Lynn From Scotland...send me some sunshine its miserable over here right now

  • Hi Lynn, don't know what my favorite thing is. It's usually whatever i'm working on next. Hope to have it posted soon and Hope the sun comes out soon for you.

  • Ficou muito bonito, Tony! e você está de parabéns também por ser um dos maiores divulgadores da boa música brasileira no YT! muito obrigado

  • :) Thank you, senhor guru.

  • Great mood piece. I'll bet you'd do a great job with "L'Hymne a L'Amour" as played by Oh Seung Kook here on Youtube. You should give it a try.

  • This is very beautiful

    ps Norma Shearer

  • right!

  • So relaxing to listen to, beautifully performed.

What is your recording setup ? is it a mic etc

  • Do you play all these by ear, or do you read first and memorize them? Excellent job.

  • depends on the clip. this is learned from score. thanks

  • That´s a Masterpiece, congratulations from a regular german troubleclef fan.

  • Perfect!! =)

  • beautiful- love it

  • Always a pleasure to hear you; thanks again for sharing.

  • what great changes

    that's really impressive

    wonderful playing man

  • thanks. no credit to me though on the chords. this is strictly from the score of Bellinati's piece (well, at least as close as i can make it)

  • that's very modest

there were certain times my fingers hurt and I'm just watching

    you.

  • me too!

  • So lovely! I'm happy that you're posting videos again.

  • Very good Tom, every time I comment your performances I can't find out any words to express how incredible your art is... congratulations one more time, and never stop playing!

  • thank you

  • Beautiful. As usual. Thanks for helping my day out. Rain, Cubs lost. Typical Sunday but not now. Peace

  • go Cubbys! (my perennial NL favorite). on the bright side and because it's sunday we can look forward to ESPN sunday night baseball!!!

    thanks

  • badasssss!

  • Beautiful as usual! Is that sleeve used to prevent your arm from not moving freely? I just played a gig outdoors and it was 95 degrees, hot and humid and I had a cloth over the top of the guitar in the area of the right arm, but this looks like it might be better. Thanks!

  • yes. though it's not that hot in my apt (yet) i use this whenever my arm is bare. i find it a lot easier to deal with than a loose cloth.

  • great playing, very jazzy. you are such a great and diverse player.
