  • yeaa pavel wasnt trying he could easily kill him

  • not trying they are faster than anyone here

  • не....ну они ваще не напрягаются))) разминочное катание...прикол штоль какой то?...Буре 14 сек. точно зарубит

  • That mullet at 0:11 just impregnanted all the women in the world.

  • Russian hockey forever!

  • LOL they were coasting, over 2 seconds higher than the world record

  • Both great players! but i think bure should be in the fall of fame! best player to play the game of hockey!

  • I think its more than fair to say that probably 3/4 of the Russian players do not have the fire in them that many north American players or even Swedish and Finnish players have. There are exceptions though like say Datsyuk ..you would be hard pressed to find a harder working player than that man

  • but the outcome is different i add ( : (: Pavel skates tighter, Sergei have longer skating which get looking more slow.

  • @MrJuha82 @MrJuha82 @MrJuha82 - That is so correct. I have always said the same thing. I think Pavel was more explosive and could go from 0 to 100 in a plit of a second like nobady else not before or after and this was while he had the puck. On a longer distance Fedorov was a litle faster and as i said and what you are pointing out so correct is that his style of skating was different and therefor did not look that fast. Fedorov had it all - belong there with Gretsky and the rest

  • i say Pavel is slightly faster though, at least his speed looks better.

  • konstantin koltsov

  • 16:80? that's horrible!

  • @yrusuchadick

Pavel's in the Russian Mafia , don't fuck with him. Karma is the least of his worries

  • WOW. i had this video when i was a kid!

  • that was pathetic.. half strides... wtf

  • Bure was a very skilled scorer and amazingly fast skater, but nothing else beyond that. Federov was incredible all around, hell he even played defense at times for Detroit as much as he hated Scotty Bowman making him do it. Federov was as naturally gifted as any player in history but wasn't always the hardest worker or most focused. I blame 14 year old Anna lol

  • There is no way they skated top speed throughout this vid. Watching them in the other vids when they tried to break through defense or go around the whole opposing team their strides were more forceful and all body parts were in motion. The skate between the two near the end was wayyyyy too relaxed, in my opinion. Too bad, we'll really never know. I'm going to throw a curve on this one, how about Russ Courtnall, before all his knee issues????

  • @Knight7578 Mike Gartner... Bure's my favourite, but I've never seen straight line speed like Gartner.

  • @Lennac Grabner?

  • Winner gets Anna Kournikova ;) Errr...........WAit a sec..........heheheheh

    Bure would destroy Fedorov.

  • @kobracom77 thats not true watch the 90's skill comp...fedorov had the hardest slapshot and the fastest skating time

  • bure had great hockey hair.

  • @BeavisDude88 i disagree but ok

  • bull. Bure is faster

  • Mogilny - Fyodorov - Bure = Best atack line ever in all world!

They was new & last superperspective generation of Red Machine "CCCP".

I very sorry about they play so seldom together! (((

  • look at that mullet

  • they werent trying to go hard because one they had no helmets and if they feel at those speeds they could get injured.

  • @MrCodfever lol. i love how i can just tell by your comment that you dont play hockey...

  • hahaha anyone else recognize that ref?

    Doug Wilson! the Sharks GM

  • Bure might not have been the fastest, he was up there though, he had the BEST acceleration and that's what you need for games.. Hands down most electrifying person in sports entertainment (Sorry rock).

  • @2XcrazymanX2 Can you tell me, which player was faster in your opinion? I've never seen anyone. And don't tell me that Fedorov was faster, he really never was. But you're right, Bure was the most spectacular player of all time.

  • @Ahattrick4asprilla Pavel Bure had the same Pavel Datsyukian "what the f--- I've never seen that done before" gene. Fedorov was less spectacular, but more talented overall.

  • Is the ref the same guy from tsn?

  • Bure's faster.

  • Я думал, что Буре будет быстрее)))

  • they didnt look like they were trying.. thats not even NHL size rink.. i'm sure it wouldnt take them 17 seconds to skate around a communtiy club rink!! thats a long time!! lol

  • god i miss seein sergei in the winged wheel.

  • how ironic to have these two be competing with eachother haha

  • Bure`s got his nice Vandame hair cut.

  • "fastest in the world?" lol

  • @karrde666666

more like fastest in Russia. Funny cause they could have cut 3 seconds from their times easily

  • ее Федоров рулит!)))

  • nice mullet Bure

  • Russians first train to be skaters then work on other skills. I think most of them start off at some figure skating school then the tough ones pick up a stick and see what they can do with it.

  • Russian players really know how to skate! They're just so good at it! Usually much better than North American players at that skill.

  • lol, they could have at least pretended to try.

  • lol..

That pretty much sums up Russian Hockey.....if it doesn't matter, they don't try.

  • @Seoulmanaja

their 16.8-16.9 seconds here of "not trying" is still faster than most players busting their ass as fast as possible. We all saw Fedorov win multiple fastest skater competition at the All Star games, he has 2'nd and 3'rd fastest all time I believe.

  • @Spetz

    ?

I'm not sure what your point is here....I said they don't try if it doesn't matter...unless you're saying they are trying...which there is a consensus here that they aren't

  • @Seoulmanaja

well I think seeing a lot of the success Russian players have had in the NHL proves that Russian players DO try, but you summed them up all up as if they NEVER try just like they didn't here according to you.

  • @Spetz

yeah YOU think....many of the people here (as I said before), including myself believe that they don't try if it DOESN'T MATTER. I don't recall writing in any post that they NEVER try. Please show me if I've written that somewhere here.

  • @Seoulmanaja

well your "if it doesn't matter they don't try" comment is as vague and ambiguous as it gets so what the fuck am I supposed to take away from your point?!?! Whatever matters is relevant to whichever opinion you're asking...therefore your comment can be applied to pretty much every relevant thing going on in hockey, that's what I'm arguing over.

  • @Spetz

And it took pretty much 3 comments to clearly point that out......nice job....

"If it doesn't matter they don't try" is vague? I don't see how thats vague at all...if it doesn't matter meaning they don' think it has meaning...then they do not try meaning they do not play their hardest. Its pretty simple. I'm not sure why your arguing really......I think IMO in general its true.

  • @Seoulmanaja

....ok??? Well then in that case, anybody on the planet who doesn't think that something is worth a shit, will likely not try that much either. Or are you trying to say that Canadian or other players from different countries bust their ass when it doesn't matter to them??? I don't see your point in singling out Russians in this

  • @Spetz

What I'm saying is Russian Hockey does not try as hard as they can. They are elite players with a lot of skill, yet when push comes to shove, they back away and become lackadaisical. They aren't as passionate generally about the game as opposed to North America or European Countries. For example look at the Olympics...Domination, until they met Canada where they got shell shocked and didn't even try to fight back...they just conceded after the first period. Pretty dissapointing IMO

  • @Seoulmanaja I hate this stereotype, for every Russian player who doesn't seem passionate about winning, there's a Canadian counterpart. Do you think Malkin is less passionate, because his Conn Smythe Trophy says otherwise. What about Datsyuk? For every one of those guys there's Canadian like Daigle.

  • @botter66

Sorry I just want to get some clarification on what you think the Stereotype is. I'm sure Russians are passionate about winning. That's not the argument I'm making. If it seems unreasonable, they will stop trying. They wont battle, they won't try. More often than not they'll slack off and just wing it for the rest of the game or just quit. Its been referenced many of times. Russian players don't try unless there is meaning to it and its attainable

  • @botter66 So true!!

  • haha holy shit i had this wayne gretzky hocky video, i used to watch it all the time when i was 6

  • wow, im pretty sure bure could get 11-13 easy

  • these guys aren't even trying lol

  • i was thinking the same thing..

the numbers they put up were embaressing

  • @sofaking27 Maybe because they are friends.

  • @sofaking27 that's what i was thinking at one point. It looks like they are barely trying. Cuz it's sorta a kids thing segment they did years ago they prob just said make it as close as you can or something.

  • mike gardner = fast as hell in this event

  • @laci0008 Gartner has the fastest speed because he skated around the blue paint, and not around the whole net, before they changed it.

  • Fedorov one of my favorite players of all time alongside Yzerman .

  • Gotta love the russian way of hockey!

  • Fedorov will play in the Olympics in Vancouver.

  • wow

  • both legends of the 90s....

  • the reason they wernt trying is whoever set this up wanted them to finish at the same time.

it was probably the nhl that produced this.

  • NHLPA produced it during the lock-out in 1995. It was some sort of marketing campaign in order to have their way over the owners, which they did.

  • I don't think they were going as fast as they could have been especially Bure. I've seen his #1 goal and he was going alot faster than in this video.

  • yea they wernt trying.

  • didnt look like full speed

  • They weren't trying. Humble Russians

  • Beautiful mullet. Absolutely gorgeous.

  • хахаха... чё за хуету они несли в начале?!

  • что-то там про "на коньках, на коньках, ну я не знаю"=))

  • Haha, wow. I have the VHS that this came on.

  • they didnt try

    ilovefedie.<333

  • мне тож нравится СВ, но Буре реально был быстрейшим...

  • Я не понимаю

  • i like feds too but Bure was faster...

  • ya, i love how their both russian, that just proves to all the canadians the russians do have great skill. =]

  • Nobody in Canada says that they don't have skill. On the contrary, this is what they are known for. If there is a knock against Russians, it's that they generally don't play a very good team game.

  • Funny. The thing in Canada you guys just don't know what team game is. The only problem is to show the russian team game you need some russians on a team. Remeber the Wings' russian 5 and how they wouldn't loose the puck for minutes? It's different style of play. I'm not saying canadians are worse hockey players, not at all. But to say russians wouldn't know how to play a team game is ridiculous.

  • Okay, but they were playing on a north american team, the Red Wings, put together by canadian coach, Scotty Bowman. When I say team game I mean responsibility at both ends of the ice. Also, I'm not saying ALL Russians are bad at this, and ALL Canadians excel, it's just what is emphasized at the grass roots level. And I will admit that it is a Russian who is currently one of the best two forwards in the game. Pavel Datsyuk.

  • BTW, I meant "two way players" not "two players"

  • Yeah, but it helps when you have a Scotty Bowman behind the bench. But as things have evolved through time, it seems as if you are right to give puck pocession game to Europeans.

I hate dump and chase; such a bad game play and it kills everything.

However, we have to say they were not stuck with the "Trap" at West. This too is a terrible invention whose "evolutions" are still overused in the Easton Conference.

Hockey is meant to be played carrying the puck! If not, the show will be awful.

  • soviet union > canada

  • if they were trying they prob would've both got like 11 or 12 seconds. but i bet bure would have won.

  • they didnt try!

  • they werent skating full speed, right?

  • didnt look like they were even trying

  • Sergie federove plays for the capitals my favorite team.

  • This is my favorite comment out of the whole list.... rofl so random

  • hah yeah where'd that come from?

  • And you think they were trying in this video? SO YOU THINK you're faster than NHLer's? But yet you've not made the NHL nor probably played even close to NHL lvl hockey. Oh so you still think you're faster?

  • I was faster. That's all I'm going to say.

  • You wish.

  • it is old video now is hockey faster and there is new skates:D jzimm8787

  • they werent skating at their fastest obviously

  • Why do you think they skate so fast?

  • the ice...

  • clearly neither of them took the skate off seriously, they dragged ass around that rink lol.

  • I would have expected their times to be better but still 2 great players.

  • funny thing is bure did anna behind feds back.... for those who know...

  • :o How do u know

  • it's not a secret, they came public about it long ago... yep and Fed is a far better 2way player, he was even force to play D when he was with Detroit because he was such a good mind and skater... Bure was no passer but was better at scoring awesome goals.. total offensive? Fed did have one hell of an offensive season Bure could never match and he didn't goal suck...

  • Two of the most exciting talents to ever play in the NHL. I think Feds was clearly the better all around player. But that's no knock on Bure.

  • Fedorov was clearly a better 2way player,Bure was better for Offense.

  • Agreed. Before all his knee injuries Bure was amazing to watch.

Can't forget his double OT breakaway winner vs. Calgary in game 7 in 94. Awesome series, epic way to end it.

  • Yep, Still tops on my list of breakaways. He had a breakaway - he scored. He was the best on that.

  • MY 2 FAVORITE PLAYERS EVER!!!!

  • Two of the best russians hands down

  • this race was for fun not for judge

    Both are great players

  • Sergei all the way!!! Love him

  • he is great even these days he is awsome player

  • Sergei is awesome

  • My two favorite players of the 90's. Its great Ovechkin gets to play with Sergei currently. But if Bure was stil playing in the NHL today, he'd still be posting 50+ goals per season. Datsyuk has been my hero the last 5 or so years though.

  • Too sad that Bure ended his carrier being so young

  • a little effort wouldve been nice

  • Hahaha nicely put..

  • ...anyone else feelneither one was trying?

  • they were both dogging it

  • My two favourite players...Fedorov Number One and Bure follows him :D

  • Fedorovs career was nothing when he left the wings. He was not an impact like he was with the red wings. I'm glad he left though, we could win with out him. He was my favorite player but after the hold out.. i lost all respect for him.

  • same here. he was my fav but when he left, he left burning bridges.

  • How could you say that? Fedorov mentored Lidstrom. Ysabeart mentored guys like Coffey. Konstantinov mentored Igor, and Vyacheslav. Fedorov has a lot to do with Detroit's current success. Put your fear aside....Imagine this line,....LW Zetterberg- C Fedorov-RW Datsyuk.

  • ehh don't know about that one.

  • =)))) you so young and stupied...

  • Fedorov is better.

  • Bure is better<3

  • lol they didnt even look like they were trying, and they def. werent, seeing as most all star players get around 12-14second

  • were they even trying?

  • lol i remember renting this when i was like 8

  • Bure was maube faster but fedorov was a much smoother skater

  • Bure wasent trying or he was just off that day

  • crap, bure is way faster

  • a race for anna kournikova

  • ovechkin will cream them

  • you are correct

  • not even close

  • thatss not really bure and federov bure is better

  • I saw them both do it under 14 sec

  • lol yea they weren't trying for shit, both are much much faster than me and i can cross in just under or just over 15.

  • it has to be rigged lol...everyone knows bure is faster :)

  • Not really.

  • i was joking

  • Yeah no problem. My opinion is that Bure was perhaps faster straight forward but all in all Fedorov is and was the better skater. He won that election a few years ago with twice as much votes as the runner up, Mike Modano.:)

  • haha ok

  • it's very apparent from the highlights that bure is a lot better puck carrier

  • fedorov kinda tried, but bure was pratically coasting. I love fedorov's 2 way game and that we have him on the caps now, but bure's speed was blinding when he turned it on.

  • ahhahahaha fedorov said, "fastest in the world"??? ahahah

  • when it comes to around the rink fedorov is faster because he is taller and loses less speed when going around the curve, but in a straight line no one is as fast as bure

  • you mean bure is more explosive

  • 2 best player in 90's

  • you cant determine pure speed by doing a lap around a rink..it has to be straight line. That simply determines the best skater...which would be like a Neidermeyer..some fast guys cant cross cut as well as others.

  • Sergei was a cute guy when he was younger XD Rock on Sergei!

  • winner gets to sleep with anna kournikova!

  • the mullet slowed down bure

  • OMG fastest in the world (sarcasm)

  • neither was trying.

  • my 2 favourite players :)

  • Wtf, was that federov that wasnt even trying?

  • great Guys
