What a stunning & beautiful poem. I'd love 2 see u slow down a bit and BREATHE! As well as: Inhabit the space you are creating with your words, & then simply allow yourself to share that via your countenance & your story. I'm a singer, & I like doing gigs, but it's still a 'lil of a struggle to do that whole get up on stage/hold the room thing. So I just decide, instead of being nervous or self conscious, I will just come from the place of, "ok what can I offer in the place & time right now?" :)
@lizzabbott ooops my bad that was a typ-o & should be: "THIS time & place right now". Again, I loved you poem! Thanx 4 sharing, and I hope you can read it at a poetry night somewhere or something soon! :)
I love this poem very cool stuff. =)) As you know, I love anything to do with space. Especially when talking about space travel. If we were both picked to go on a mission where we would travel at the speed of light that would be so cool. If I remember how it works in theory correctly though wouldn't everyone we used to know be dead and gone upon our return to Earth? -- whereas, we wouldn't show any signs of aging at all? :) Very cool stuff interstellar travel. :)
Thanks, Warren. :) Yeah, that's how the theory of special relativity goes. If you go on a journey at the speed of light, when you get back to Earth everyone that was alive at this time would be long gone, but the people on the journey wouldn't look much different from the time they left and who knows what the Earth would look like, if it was even still around, that is. Thanks for being such a frequent commenter. I appreciate the feedback. :)
I had to write an essay on the ISM at college but a poem on it has to be a first! You've got the right idea about it, too: it's where everything gets recycled. BTW, interstellar travel only takes a long time in the frame of reference of the home planet. For the travellers, the time is shorter: at the speed of light you could cross the entire galaxy in no time at all. So, time is not the reason that interstellar travel is impractical. in fact, it is the ISM which rules out really fast journeys!
Writing an essay on the interstellar medium sounds really cool. Yeah, at the speed of light, if it was possible for people to travel at that speed, it would take hardly any time at all. I was reading about the interstellar medium in a book last summer. Pretty interesting stuff. Thanks for the comment. :)
Hi Johnny. I never thought of Star Trek while writing the poem, but I guess it can go with the travel and time theme. Thanks for stopping by my channel and commenting. :)
Very cool. I especially like the subject matter. Most ppl don't write poems about space so its a unique concept. Of course, you could only accelerate until you reached the speed of light at 3E8m/s. Even at this pace it would take several years to reach the nearest solar neighboring system - so it would be a long trip :). This also explains why alien encounters are all fake: it'd take too long for them to get here. Wow, i'm random tonight. sorry :)
Thanks, Matt. Yeah, I notice that most people don't seem to write about space much. I started writing poems about the subject back in 2006 at a poetry site I've been at since 2003 and I've never seen anyone write about space in poetry before myself. Don't be sorry about being random. It makes comments more interesting. :)Yeah, most alien encounters are most likely fake because of the distance they would have to travel. It's unfortunate because it would be interesting to meet extra terrestrials.
There is however, the concept of a 'worm hole'..I'm not really into alians or psify, but its an interesting concept:). Nice poem, reminds me of a dream I once had.
Yeah, the concept of wormholes are just a theory right now, I think. As far as I know from the books that I've read in cosmology, only black holes have been proven. Thanks for the comment. :)
Yeah, I did intend the poem to have a reincarnation view. I like to mix the science, philosophy and reincarnation ideas together. Just philosophize and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the comment. :)
