I would have waited 5 minutes to use the bathroom, and then started yelling "HELP". Horrible hospital, terrible care. I would warn others not to go to that hospital!
wow....maybe you had crappy veins. Do you think that's possible? Do you think that maybe your psych disorder could be causing you to imagine that you had lousy nurses?
I HAVE FOUND If you slip your favorite nurse in each shift a fifty every time your ringing the service bell, they come really quick! heart attack down trhe hall or no
Yeah, they shouldnt have had taken an hour to come to you, anything could have happened. Luckily the hospital Joe went to and the hospital I am going to were VERY good with joe and were there every button press, because it is important they make sure you are okay.
ugh! That sounds horrid- I am glad you got out of there too- this is why I am glad that my mom is a nurse and she is going to be there with me the whole time- and she can be an uber-meanie- so yeah... lol. Happy healing!
Youtube gives people an opportunty to have video support for those people who are not close together. There are a lot of groups on here - it's just a way for people to connect because everyone's story and experience is different :)
I am sorry you had to go through that! I was hospitalized in the ICU a while back and I had some great nurses and not-so-great ones. I made SURE to contact the patient advocate, wrote a letter naming names (good and bad), and they actually have rewritten some policy because of it. I understand that there is a nursing shortage and they are very busy, but that is their job and if they are hating their job to the point where patient care suffers, then they need to find somewhere else to be.
I was a floor nurse for 17 years. There was a severe nursing shortage then, I cannot imagine how bad it is now. You had a procedure done to help you loose weight, much of these things you could have done yourself. Nurses are medical professionals, not handmaids or counselors. Next time ask the doctor or anesthesiologist to plug in your pump, good luck.
Nurses are paid to take care of the patients. There is absolutely no reason why she should have had to do any of those things herself when it is their job to do it.
I would have gladly done them had I been able to bend but since my surgery was to the stomach, I was not able to do it myself, hense the need for nursing assistance.
Yes, they are MEDICAL professionals that need to take care of the medical equipment/medications. She wasn't expecting an immediate response, but she is not qualified to remove those things. Also, it doesn't matter WHAT her surgery was, she deserved to have the SAME quality medical attention and any other patient. Should she suffer because it's WLS? Is she somehow a lower person that needs to continue to be discriminated against because she's fat? Let's post-op her in a cage the next time!
We pay over 35 thousand dollars for this surgery, you better bet your ass, if I need them to help me go to the bathroom they better march their ass in the room and help me, I dont give a shit what your title is. The hospital that my fiance was at, did everything they should have! They were respectful and helped us, they were wonderful... I would HATE to have you as my nurse!
Ive been a nurse having to run to answer literally 6 call bells at once. Its too bad people have to wait but it happens. Some things are more urgent...as u pointed out.. of course the calls are usually to move a cup over an inch when they can clearly do this themselves..but a thousand times better of u to post a rant about it. I am sure they were sittin at the nurses desk pickin their nails doin nothing. I would LOVE to see the nurses rant1 truly.
What she was asking for was not unreasonable. She was asking to have her equipment disconnected so she could relieve herself. Would you rather she urinate in the bed and create more work? She didn't complain about the nurses immediacy. She complained that it took an HOUR, which is unacceptable. She didn't say they were doing nothing, but they clearly were not attending to her needs, which IS THEIR JOB. If you don't want to do these kinds of things, then don't become a floor nurse.
Lmao at "entitled to my anxiety" lol..that was cute... Girl, I'm sooo sorry you had that experience with the nursing staff. I am a nurse and I, for one, know first hand about the nursing shortage and the very high patient-to-nurse ratio going on these days. There are many times the nurses have way more than they can safely handle. It can be very scary. When I have my surgery in November, I will make sure my husband is there with me the whole time. Again, so sorry that happened to you!!!
There is such a shortage in nurses nowdays, thats why it is good to have your own family advocate. Otherwise be your own, you know the old saying, "the squeeky wheel gets the grease" It is so true in healthcare.
I wish I could have been your nurse:( I too get panic attacks so I feel your pain. I feel like I am watching a BetheBestMe video marathon today, haha!

I am so sorry to say but your video represents the typical hospital stay for all patients....As a medical professional, I am so scared for patients.
