  • Whenever I want to be a teenager again I just bang B.S on......Brilliant!!!!!

  • IMPRESIONANTEMENTE BONITA.

  • one of their best songs! Amazing!

  • the best of the best! XXXXXXXXXXX

  • Great song, i remember when my dads best friend said to him to sing this at his wedding if he ever got married:0)xxxxxxxx

  • sad i am but this makes us happier

  • LOVE!! The Beautiful South!!! GREAT BAND!! I'll always be a Fan :)

  • such a great song and video! He sang this acapela on radio one once and I was blown away!

  • beautiful south are awesome so underrated its untrue have u heard paul heatons voice!!?? ...........................wow!

  • @thenadzman1 seen him live many times.... brilliant...

  • 3:43 -3:50 is the reason i love the beautiful south so much..the voice..the passion of Paul Heaton..what a song.

  • what a voice what a man what a shame

  • Paul Heaton had such a pure singing voice back then, it's a shame he didn't take better care of it really, but there you go!

  • Have people heard the other version of this, where the female vocalist at the time (Briana Corrigan?) sung instead. Same music, different singer. Also incredible. It's super-hard to find online, I had to buy a couple of old albums from ebay to get hold of it. If anybody wants a listen, contact me :-)

  • I love how they leave St Johns as if to go towards Stonferry, when actually the Haworth is behind them! They could've walked it!

  • Has anyone else noticed that the horn line towards the end of this song is exactly the same as the horn line from 'the rescuers' that plays when ever they use that bird as a place?

  • @crookylufc I KNEW I RECOGNISED THAT! AMAZING! YOU LEGEND! Also, have you heard the female version of this, released on just a few early copies of the album? It's also amazing.

  • Oi cheeky! Actually my brother Mark is a scaffolder so you're not far off. Paul x

  • paul heaton, looks like a scaffolder, your mate from the pub but when he starts singing,he's up there with the best in my opinion, totally underated, love this song and the video, been to many weddings like that!!

  • I remember having 'The Beautiful South -Greatest Hits' on a tape when i was younger and my mum recently bought it again on CD it made me so so happy and brought back so many memories

  • alcohol wrote this song, well alcohol plus paul heaton.

  • Nice song and video as well.

  • love this so much..

  • life would be so much poorer without paul, fantastic lyrics

  • i saw paul heaton about 3 months ago in the anvil pub in wigan, he was doing a solo tour of the north west..playing one night gigs..in shit pubs..for pennies..on a bicycle!..i asked him about a possible b.s reunion, and he replied, 'been there, done that, never again', so there ya go folks, the man has fallen on hard times, shame really.

  • @xXmikeywafc10xX it gets to all of us in the end.money is the root of all evil. But Paul is the nicest down to earth bloke in the world.

  • @Sinead12ful i agree, at least hes had a taste of the success, and hes not been influenced by drink or drugs, hes just a common bloke from manchester with a story to tell now, and its great that he still peforms, albeit in intimate venues rather than arenas.

  • @xXmikeywafc10xX i spoke to Dave Rotherway the other day and he said no chance of a B.S. reunion.shame really. But sometimes it's best to have good memories.

  • @Sinead12ful totally, some groups make comebacks and the material is so poor compared to thier heyday, its sad for the fans, at least paul will be best remembered at the top of his game with classics like this.

  • love you mum, you loved this. Miss you so much wish you where still here with me.x You mean the world to me and always will do, I just wish you was still here with me. I love you more than words can say. Rest in peace my beloved mother. Love you always your daughter leah.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • love you mum, you loved this. Miss you so much wish you where still here with me.x You mean the world to me and always will do, I just wish you was still here with me. I love you more than words can say. Rest in peace my beloved mother. Love you always your daughter leah.x

  • so when you feel a little tatty and unhappy with your face.....fantastic ! Paul, you're the man

  • Name me a better band..........

  • @kevin708 No matter which band I name you would probably disagree. And you would probably be not far wrong. :) There's a lot of good music from back in the day that some people should make more of an effort to find... Beautiful South, Rodriguez, Nick Cave, JS Bach, Mozart, Bob Marleys other stuff. The list goes on and on.

  • my favourite type of music is death metal, but these are by far my favourite band!!

  • man im only 16 but evan i know that paul heaton is a legend :D

  • @purplelady179 you have good taste!

  • Never mind the songwriting, the voice is heaven!!!!

  • dwi'n crio eto..

  • This song/video makes me miss home (Hull) for all the right reasons..!

  • Paul Heaton has to be recognised surely by now, as one of the ELITE. A lyrical genius that that man is...from his first songs to the ones he still sings today. A contribution to music on a very grand scale. I am lucky enough to of been able to follow his career, as a young girl growing up, into the woman i am today, And musically speaking Mr Heaton has been a constant for me........

  • Paul Heaton = Lyrical Genius...

  • love em fantastic class wot can i say

  • omg! memories...Paul Heaton...legend

  • Is that Holly Johnson @ 2:26?

  • @peewacker sorry...no..its Sean Welch of the beautiful south. :)

  • great song , dont get lyrics like this anymore .

  • im 16 and ive been brought up to listen to the beautiful south, id pick this over dubstep anyday

  • Beautiful beautiful song, always sends shivers down my spine

  • Lovely song, but what the %#!#& is up with the audio ads at the end of the freaking videos lately? Irritating in the extreme.

  • after listening to that i feel 17 again

  • where is the girl that sang with the band?, she had a great voice

  • @dencam1234

which one Jaqui or Briana ?

    Briana is living in Dublin.

  • Let love speak up itself, let it rise up in the morning and take us for that walk, let it do the talking when we're too tired to talk....

  • 10/10

  • 1st band i went to see at rock city nottingham spot on

  • What a remarkable and inventive little song...there is everyone in this thing in the spiritual sense, I can hear Elton John, Van Morrison, Everything But the Girl, even Bacharach and Hal David, and what a poetic title and lyric...indeed, LET Love Speak Up Itself, what a loaded poetic trope that is! I would love to hear Tracey Thorn of EBTG do this song too, just to see how she would handle it. :-)

  • @gurlsingerfan hear hear !

  • lol, i know a lot more about "the south" than you do mate.

  • the south should rise again. 15 songs only.... you got greatest hits album then.......... oh dear.

  • Live performances were awful !

  • I think that what you will find over the next decade or so we will realise what a truly gifted and creative band they really are. they have a great many classic tracks to call on.

  • the greatest day of my life.

  • @Lliberty7 cool

  • I love this song, but, it makes me truley sad because me granny always use to play it :( bless her.

  • Gorgeous

    Paul Heaton is brilliant.

  • most good bands have 3 or 4 great songs........ beautiful south had 15 or more!

  • i'm confused.... is this a happy or a sad song?

    either way i love it!

  • best group ever who talk feeling thank you bs

  • Que buenos son.

  • the most underated band in britain. truly amazing, heaton is the best songwriter in years!!!

  • @01jnorth underated is understated.. they are brilliant, but they arnt tarts with their tits hanging out and they arnt pretty boys that teenage girls will idolise , so they never got the recognition they deserve. its a great sourse of shame that the british music scene has come to this.

  • @01jnorth gotta agree with u there!

  • I'm living in Hull at the moment and it is a right shit hole!! But it must be said that The Beautiful South are by far the greatest thing too come from Hull.

  • My favourite Beautiful South song, proof that Paul Heaton is one of the best songwriters these isles have produced.

  • Even though Paul Heaton's latest solo album is terrific, the world is a sadder place without The Beautiful South...

  • Everybodys second favourite band

  • Ahem! My favourite band :-)

  • one of the best bands ever.all their songs were fab;love them

  • what grate song and a grate band

love too see em come back

  • i fucking love this band !!!!!!

    LOVETHEMLOVETHEMLOVETHEM

  • The church is St. John's Newland on Clough Road. It's about a hundred yards away from the Haworth Arms where the rest of the video was shot.

  • All Saints Church. Wyke Regis, Weymouth Dorset. 22 August 1992. I was there. A great day.

  • You could be right. But the reception was at thr Moonfleet Manor Hotel, Weymouth, Dorset. That was great also.

  • @cpome7 In good old Hull! I'm a student there :)

  • @cpome7 Hayworth arms is now called some thing else i think.. it went all "themed" shame .. i have had many good nights there..

  • Does anyone know which church this is, at the beginning of the video, I assume it is in Hull?

  • All Saints. Wyke Regis, Weymouth Dorset.

    22 Aug 1992

  • A brilliant video. I love it Paul 'breaks the forth wall' and starts singing in the clip. Genius.

  • great song and great video!

  • most underated English band ever.

  • so true

  • Most forgotten about band.

Ask people if they like TBS and the answer you will get most of the time is "Who?"

Tell them what they sang and you get "Oh, yeah. I like them".

  • sure dis church is hull

  • The amount of times I've walked through them revolving doors absolutely arseholed and exited them sober. Brilliant video, brilliant song, brilliant band.

  • pure class

  • bestest song ever lol having this at my funeral xxxxxxxxxx i love my dad for showing me all this stuff

  • ranks with michael stipe as the best male vocalist of his generation (and i don't think anyone's replaced them in other generations...) also ranks with stipe and morrissey as one of the great lyricists since dylan or reid or bowie...top bloke...

  • You have great taste in music!

  • fantastic voice-I agree very underrated x

  • Ridiculously brilliant track.

    Go Tigers.

  • i agree - he's very under-rated.

i think this vocal (along with the housemartins stuff - especially 'build') is the best white man's soul singing in recent memory.

  • 'It is often mocked and ridiculed for being the dirtiest or the most violent or the ugliest city, but I loved it,' he says. 'It had a rough, faded stylishness about it. For anyone growing up in the era of The Smiths, it had everything.'

singer Ben Watt, singer with EBTG Gaurdian On-line 12/10/08

  • Gaurdian! What happened to The Grauniad? Love from Tracy.

  • "What happened to the Grauniad?"..?

  • 'The Grauniad' was/is what the Guardian was always called on various comedy shows, such as those on Have I Got News for You as it was, once, famous for its own spelling mistakes. As you spelled it 'Gaurdian', I thought you were making a very subtle reference to that - but maybe you just spelled it wrong...

  • lyrics to match lennon and mccartney anyday - sad day when they split

  • Love this song, love this video....The Beautiful South were all kinds of awesome...:)

  • I'm from hull
