Sam West was NOT a good Dr. Frankenstein. In fact, Van Helsing just plain sucked!

I know he said it's like the Elephant Man, but I don't think Frankenstein is, 'John' Merrick didn't kill anyone and his portrayal was consistant and he was never protrayed as being scary in the least.

they're totally wrong. the creature was someone you could feel sympathy for in the book. universal changed him into monster, i felt no sympathy in during the film, only the book

I'm not being rude. Sam West was in the movie for litterally five minutes, and there were so many more actors who gave much more thurough and emotional performances for a full movie's time. West was merely a cameo.

@HealingAngel Obviously, you have never seen the other films (which had far superior performances). Colin Clive (Frankenstein 1931, Bride of Frankenstein 1935) and Peter Cushing (The Curse of Frankenstein 1957) are much better than Sam West's brief cameo in Van Helsing.
