This is the proper way on how to do chinups, Ive seen guys your age "try" to do this but they dont notice their arms are semi locked, they should be fully locked and chin above the bar as shown in this vid, good job
harder for beginners. But at higher lvl, chin ups and pull ups present different type of challenge. someone doing pull ups cannot chin a very high load as it will tear his biceps.
Good job. Now what you can do is increase those max out sets to two in a row, rest for 5 min, then go again. Thats what i do with mine and ive developed heaps of strength using that principle. Good video, its nice to see a video worth watching on youtube that isnt complete crap.
Great job and form! Always go for the last one where you fail. It stimulates the muscle to grow the most. Even if all you can do is hang halfway up for a while, that helps too!
That's what I like to see. I have never seen a women on the pull up bar in my gym. In fact, I've only seen a handful of men do as well as you. So that tells you that you are one in a few.
Wonderful! Great form - I didn't notice the elbow bend thing, I wouldn't fret over it :) Please post as you continue to improve - can 15 be far away? :))
Why getting away of the knee/leg elevation? You're not lifting with your knees at all you're just balancing the weight cause the leverage is changing through the exercise.I do chins exactly that way,I think that's the natural form, if I don't balance with the legs I start swinging a lot.
Gravity will make sure your center of mass is below the bar regardless of how you bend your knees or not. Bending knees makes it easier if the bending is done in the middle of a rep.
Also; awesome job, gubernatrix - i'm surprised and impressed (most chin/pull-up vids on youtube display crap form but yours does not)
@Jouwl hi, biomechanics are way more complicated that only center of mass below some point at some moment. e.g. if you swing forwards and backwards without control you lose a lot of your strength just to compensate those forces
Thanks! Yes, I have focussed on strength training over the winter so have made progress. As summer kicks in, I will be spending more time on outdoor pursuits/extreme sports and less time in the gym. However, I'd like to start competing in powerlifting at a regional level this year.

不主张女人做引体向上,这不是练胳膊,而是练背阔肌,会把背练得像男人那样宽,而且这样练的结果会使胳膊看上去很短,很难看。

Thanks but I have been verbally slapped (and rightly so) for the slight elbow bend! I'll have to do another one with absolutely straight arms.

Thank you - yes, can't really get away with that much use of the knees, in all honesty!
Gubernatrix 3 years ago

carlotapuig 3 years ago 3
I hadn't thought of it that way! I guess I would just have to be careful that lifting the knees wouldn't result in too much momentum being generated.
Gubernatrix 3 years ago
@carlotapuig i agree much more comfortable when crossing the knees

Perhaps, but there are ways to minimize swinging, so it can be neglected.
