You know what? Here - If some people are so against eating natural and free range meat, then they should follow that criteria fully. Go out into the Jungle / Savanha and stop each animal from eating another. Just like we don't "need meat," a lion doesn't "need meat" either. You can drop protein supplements for all of them. Go change nature to protect all of those "cutey innocent aminals."

I shot a dove, I hit it right in the head but it looked like it died instantly, it didn't even move, but then I realized that the bird was still alive, why are they hard to kill? I've shot other birds and they die instantly.

I was reading the DEC page online, and it said that there were more then enough to be hunted, but in a recent poll, only 47 percent said that they would hunt Mourning Dove. For that reason we have no Mourning Dove hunting season in New York. I would certainly hunt mourning dove, they look delicious!

also, have you ever eaten a ring-neck dove or a common pidgeon? Would you eat one if you had the chance? How do you feel about shooting and eating a dove that lives in a city and perhaps eats spoiled food/garbage that it finds on streets or in garbage cans?

Now, the people want meat on the plate, but do not want to "feel responsible". German people eat a lot of meat, but the laws and culture oppose hunting. The young generation has become completely disconnected from their food. This is both sad and potentially dangerous, in my opinion.

When the call played, it suddenly clicked in my head that mourning doves were the birds I've been hearing half my life, cooing fairly early in the mornings. The all too familiar call is definitely going to help me recognize them if I hunt them. Thanks for that!

I absolutely love hunting morning doves, they are so tasty! It's kind of funny when I'm not hunting them and I just see them up on a wire somewhere cooing at me, taunting me. They are definitely wiley birds, and unfortunately the last two years hasn't really been good hunting where I usually hunt these guys. I do see a ton of waxwings in my area though. When I see them from far off, I have to make sure it's a waxwing and not a dove before I go sneaking over there. Keep up the awesome videos.

here in Albuquerque, the Eurasian collared doves have taken over also. The native Mourning Doves have been slowly dwindling.....and the Mexican White-wing doves have started showing up in larger numbers. I dont mind the White-wings, but those Eurasian are just terrible. Good Hunting!

TX, OK and KS have an abundance of Eurasian collared doves, an escaped exotic. There's no limit on these in Texas.

just to add one thing: with technique #1, its important to know/remember that this is fine for an air rifle, but for a real rifle, its not the best idea to put the gun/barrel directly against the tree. when the charge goes off, and the gun is under recoil, it will actually recoil away outward and back, away from the tree a bit. on a longer shot, this could make the difference. rather than pinning the gun against the tree,put your hand against the tree,and cradle the gun/barrel with your thumb.
