I like the minimalism and experimental version in this video. Eccentric, yeah, but paired down, like a drum machine is missing and this is what's going on over a beat.

I like this band and respect both their creativity and the fact they don't sound like anyone else. I found the sound somewhat bizarre at first but it grew on me as I listened. The are unique and odd but in a very creative way. It would not surprise me if this band built a good following around the world where appreciation for different approaches and sounds is very strong. Bjork was similarly unique and odd, to my ears at least but not to her millions of fans around the world.

I can understand why you say that but my ears and eyes hear and see this band differently than your ears and eyes seem to hear or see for you. They remind me a little of experimental, avante gard theater where much of the stuff is so "way out" it makes people uncomfortable but still might be interesting in an odd way. Artistic tastes change. The French Impressionist painters were reviled before they became idolized. I appreciate all creative effort even if it doesn't appeal to me at the moment.

Ah. Well, I don't claim to be a true blue fan of SXSW stuff, being new to it, now. So far of what I've seen has actually been pretty good. This band, strangely, didn't exactly meet expectations. It started out great, the singer had nice pipes, but it just went nowhere, really. I mean, it was almost laziness to not actually hook people in. Some of these bands really need to have a sort of "grip" on the audience. Pull them in, get them addicted.
