A Lot of people became Christians when groups such as the , Larry Norman , Kieth Green and I am saddened that Kith Green was taken way to young . As For Larry Norman I think he went home to but I am not sure . Christian music needs the annotating off The Holy Spirit once more . I wish I could here this band one more time live the memories and the move of the Holy Spirit Was there.
Glory to God! What amazing sweet harmonies. I remember this song from when I was first saved in 1979. The message is especially poignant and precious to me as one who knew the Lord fell away and by His mercy and grace made it back. Thanks for posting this.
So good to hear that you played with the group New Hope. They traveled to Europe and also to Holland. This was the first Christian group I ever heard and my first contact with christians! I became one myself later but that music touched my heart! I looked all-over on internet to find music or clips from them! It was so good as well! Thank you that you Americans came to Europe with that great message! 'Clapp your hands all you people, shout unto God with a heart of triumph!"
I remember Jesus festivials like this one, what a wonderful 3 days they were. I don't see these gatherings much anymore. That's sad because many people who refussed to go to church would come to this, many soul were saved at these gatherings..
I went to Jesus, 76-79, the last one to be held, in Orlando Florida, my home.
This is so beautiful. Praise God I got to hear it live a few times. Thank you for posting this awesome trail blazing video of this song. I hope today Buck can appreciate Keith for not charging for the gospel.
This really is a timeless song, and has blessed me every time I listen to it. Thanks for sharing this and blessing others with it. I am keeping it on my favorites to come back to again and again.
Sorry, this was a vcr tape of a tape that was recorded by a television station. I'm sure there are no masters and even if there were they probably wouldn't release them. This is what it is, and is all that exists as far as I know.
Was the video that this song and several other of your YouTube uploads commercially available at one time? If so, what is it called--and is there any hope of my being able to obtain it anywhere?
2nd Chapter is the contemporary group I have enjoyed the very most...sharpshooter-accurate vocal pitch and melisma, incredible timing and key changes, and spine-tingling harmonies--not to mention that they sing about the Lord and Savior that I worship! How I'd love a reunion tour--and a copy of this video!!
@psalmofpraise Hi! 2nd Chapter is one of my all-time fave's - I was a new Christian in 1974 and cut my spiritual & musical teeth on their music. Have u heard of the DVD of a reunion of many of the Pioneers of early Jesus music, called "First Love"? You can find it on CBD's website and it also comes with a CD of all the songs they do. It was done in 2003 I believe and each person/group did 2 or more songs of theirs. Barry McGuire, Andrae Crouch, Honeytree, Love Song, Randy Stonehill & others...

@psalmofpraise I love this group as well-was a new Christian in '74 & cut my spiritual & musical teeth on their music. Ever heard of the 2003 DVD reunion of the early pioneers of Jesus music called "First Love"? Barry McGuire, Randy Stonehill, Honeytree, Love Song, many more perform songs & have testimonies as they recall the early days. Very powerful. Can be obtained on CBD website. Also comes w/CD of the music performed.
I was just a kid back then and I've been to some great concerts in my life, but nothing ever compares to 2nd Chapter of Acts. I've seen SCC, Amy, M.W., Rich, Cindy M etc..., but I've never felt the holy spirit more than at one of their concerts. It was more of a church service than a concert. I guess that's why they took offerings instead of selling tickets. I can't knock the artists today for making a living, but God provides for those who preach his word and not just perform it.
What a great rendering of this timeless song. As I was listening I noticed the beautiful bass lines. I noticed them a long long time ago. So, were you the bass player of a Band called David?
Thanks.....I was not the bass player for A Band Called David. That was Herb Melton, and I think the bass lines were created as a combination of Annie's keyboard lines (completely unschooled but classically very sophisticated) Herb's style and also Michael Omartians influence was real strong. Leland Sklar also had alot to say I'm sure as he played on several of the recordings, maybe this one too. I came later ('84-'88) and played on the Hymns albums, Matts solo album and Far Away Places.
hi Lee, i like your bass parts allot, did you guys all rehearse together and come up with your own parts naturally when writing together/or at home or was that song written-prearranged and you had to follow the notes the sisters wrote out? also wonder'n
Thanks, to answer your questions, most of the parts I was playing in these videos were taken from the recorded versions although I had a fair amount of freedom to embelish them, and I did. When I played on their albums (3 of them) the structure of the song was there but I created the bass parts, and they either liked them or they asked me to try something else. That was rare however. I never met Keith Green, but his wife Melody kept my kids at her house while I was travelling sometimes.
Hi! I'm the bass player in the video and I'm glad you enjoy it....back in the '70s I travelled and performed in Norway, including Bergen. The group was New Hope and we were there several times. I love Norway and would like to visit again sometime. Blessings to you.
I think they should tour again, i would love to see them...one of the greatest christian bands of all time!!
