Funny, you can actually just put reflective clear spraypaint on your license plate that will cause the OCR software of the system to fail, even if it could see your plate in its infrared view.. It works for Fastrack, and parking meter-maid (interceptor II, at least) carts. Want to get really involved? Purchase a CO2 or infrared laser from outside the US (at least a 200mw power rating) and hit the camera directly in the lens with it. It will blind you too, so invest in some good ir goggles.

Nice... Needs work... It would obviously be most beneficial to say "FU" to the man that nickles & dimes us at the flick of a "switch". Then you could choose your battles more carefully than a plate that drops down when it goes over a bump. It pulls itself back up eventually don't bring a lot of comfort. Hi. Actually I thought I briefly mentioned it in the video (@.40) but the device will keep the plate up.
When the car is NOT running it will only check to see if the plate is down every 15 sec or so.
However when it is running it monitors the status of the plate at all times.
As soon as that plate pulls away just 1/2 inch the servo closes it again.
This only happens on BIG bumps because magnets keep it up otherwise.
I've revamped the bracket it is built on since this video.

Then you could choose your battles more carefully than a plate that drops down when it goes over a bump. It pulls itself back up eventually don't bring a lot of comfort. Hey reefcut.
The only thing that changed is Governor Jan Brewer didn't renew the contract between the STATE of Arizona with Redflex. So the cameras on the highways are supposed to be shut down..... for now. (Already heard rumors the state wants to take control of them).
Unfortunately, all of the city by city ran scameras are still up. As they are here in El Mirage & Surprise. They too are devices built and controlled by PRIVATE companies in business with the police departments. :-(

Actually my next idea for my flip down controller is to mount a front facing light sensor and use another controller to be smart enough to discern the difference between the really bright and quick flash of them magnesium flash bulbs versus false triggering of changes in light amplitude.
