Quicksand was one of my favorite bands in the nineties. I wish they made more albums before splitting. Fortunately I got to see them 3 times live before they were no more.
Greatest band out of the 90s . So many bands should be thankful for quicksand. Walter is a genious. Amazing voice - writing. TC - Sergio - Alan "amazing" drummer. Pay your respects and know alot of the bands out today would not be here if it wasn't for quicksand.
i agree this band should be drawing royalitys from every copycat band out ther including the Deftones!!! no one can even pale in comparison to these legends
@Jpanetta Deftones formed in 1988. Quicksand in 1990. Although you might be right in one sense. Deftones did not release their first album until 1995, Quicksand in 1993. Quicksand had also released EPs before hand.
I don't however think that Deftones ripped off Quicksand too much. The bands to me have completely different sounds anyways.
Them being from NYC, and The Movielife being from LI. You can tell Quicksand influenced them....they sound so similar. I remember back on when 104.3 had a modern rock format they played bands like this all day...Smile, The Toadies, and the whole Crow soundtrack...

@Mahmood42978 What you want to explain me when you say that these guys were from the NY Hardcore scene??? That shit have more influences of Seattle Grunge than a NY HxC scene. Its simple. Listen to the guitar melodies and vocals.
@TheNaturalCristu well these guys are members of Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today and Bold, and I don't hear much grunge in this, it reminds me of what a lot of hardcore bands who stopped playing hardcore were doing in that era
Quicksand was a band ahead of it's time. Musically they had just as much potential as bands like Tool, but they just had too small of a following to keep going. Loved these guys, wish they could've stuck around.
@OvergroundComics My buddy just turned me onto this band....cant believe I missed them being such a huge fan of th 90's style like this....but he told me that the creator of this band only forms a project for 2 albums and moves on...just thought you might find that interesting
