You must be kidding us. You're foisting a school tax increase on us by eliminating the county guaranty. You added a sewer tax. Labor savings? You removed the cap from payouts that can be claimed by retiring police officers resulting in millions of dollars in liability. You negotiated with CSEA to eliminate their blood days and pushed any potential savings off to future years. You paid out $2000/year of service in retirement incentives to hundreds of employees.
You're selling off 60 years of future rental income in order to fill holes in your budget (like the one you blew by eliminating the home heating tax - a tax imposed by nearly every county in the state). You're giving our parks away to private institutions (Bay Park and Molloy College). You even had the audacity to fraudulently lower our assessments thereby eliminating any realistic chance of grieving.
Who is “they?" NIFA? You forget. They can’t raise our taxes. They may tell you that your budget is a pie in the sky nightmarish mess of falsities, but they can’t raise our taxes. They can only force you to fix the mess you created. That means cut services or raise taxes. It’s not their fault. It’s your fault. It's not totally your fault.
