Performance can be measured. Nothing subtle about it... If no one would pay for a performance (because a measurable thing is easy to compare), only a few people would be interested in the expression of an ability, because without the measure, it become something subtle, sensitive. It is not popular but personal...
Race horses die so young secratariats life was normal that i know of and ruffians life ended so soon and when she shatterd her leg that was soooooooooo sad.
@simyroks his leg that he broke got better but is back left leg had to deal with all the wait on his back end due to the fact he couldnt put weight on his right leg. this type of injury is common in large animals. So due to the fact that both of his back legs were hurt and that barbaro was in so much pain it was in barbaros best interest to be put down
The American arrogance and ignorance is famose . If a horse wins in USA, without ever leaving his country, , it automatically becomes the best in history. Out of Your Truman Show , out the Hollywood movies , in the real world, everyone knows ..the best horse ever (gallop) is the Italian " RIBOT ", the best trotter ever is Italian " VARENNE " the best jockey ever is the Italian " FRANKIE DETTORI." All people can check these names on internet and make an assessment of the results.
I have never seen such a powerful video in my life. The quality wasn't good, but just this whole story. His story. And how it cruelly ended, way too soon. It makes my heart ache so much. I love how the music goes from quiet to baleful. I just knew something bad was gonna happen without even really knowing what happened. This video is amazing, in such a heartbreaking way. I'm so so sorry for what happened.
Barbaro was a champ, now doubt about it, he ran from the heart, i recon they could have saved him and cured him from the laminitis, but they wanted him to nto feel anymore pain, i understand but i think they should have not put him down, he was loved by people all over, he inspired people, and to take that away form people... i was at that race.. i saw him.. and i still cry about it, maybe gone but never forgotten Love you Barbaro RIP <3
I believe the one thing good to come out of this incident was that they didn't have to put him down right then and there like they did Eight Belles at the Derby.
Watching a horse being put down is one of the most awful sights to see.
For you, the horse is at least trying to save, even at a price that will never go. Here in the Czech Republic are not so lucky horse. Here is killed and sent to the slaughterhouse. They're assholes! I am against is the way to kill!
Lovely. I agree, horses shouldn't be raced till later when they're fully grown or around 3 or 4. Nothing was done wrong from The Jacksons, M. Matz, or Edgar Prado. Barbaro took a bad step and shattered the bones. Officails spent weeks to months trying to find the reason for it but nothing could be found. No one was at fault; things like this happens and sadly, sometimes it can't be fixed. RIP Barbaro. May your three brothers carry on your legacy.
Well we all miss u Barbrao!!!<3 xcept all the racers, they in it for the money and don't care about the animal they are on!!!!!!!!):xcept a few but if they did they should not race
i think barbaro and his jockey had some hell of guts to do that, I mean so much presure on the jockey (and the horse too) But barbaro's jockey chose to get off because he felt sumthing was wrong, and if u ask me that is hell of courage. And not to mention Barbaro he didn't have to be a racehorse when he was broken in, for all we know he might of wanted to do sumthing else. but no Barabro listened to his trainer And took out a breath and went onto that race track and won the kenturkey durby.
this sent a chill threw me! I miss barbaro! But I'll be seeing lentenor at gulfstream next year. Nicanor should of made i to the derby. But i have a feeling lentenor will accomplish what his brother did. I love you Barbaro!
Barbaro died from Laminitis, a killer of great horses, it killed Secretariat and many others. We need to find a cure to this disease, please donate to the Barbaro Fund For Laminitis at Penn State. Horses are born to run, they will run even if they are not in hand. The lower end of racing sucks and should be overhauled, but it is the duty of all who have acheived success to improve the lower end and make life better for the racehorse. The Jacksons do this.
um... secretariat is alive... .and the cure for laminitis is here.... I HAVE a horse that HAD laminitis, u just gotta ride em and DO NOT LET THEM EAT GRASS! she limps no more! :)
I want to be an Equine vet and go to either Kentucky or Penn State (New Bolton Center) and find a cure for Laminitis... and look back once i have found it and say why couldnt have we figured this out when Barbaro-Americas Horse- was still living and breathing
I donated to the Barbaro Memorial Fund and received the bracelet. You can also buy hats and other items. Donations go to finding a cure for laminitis. It is never rude to ask , take care.
Strongly disagree. I'm an active member in the equestrian community. Horse racing is by far the most dangerous of all equestrian sports and is the only one considered an "industry." Why is that? Because the entire thing is more revolved around the business of making money than working with an animal. Horse racing needs serious reforms, if not total abolition. It works against their bodies. You don't see stadium jumpers and dressage horses snapping one of two legs.
um do u realize that these horses wr born and bred for this sport. they have alot of heart and are very competitive and love their job. the horses that dont love it arent good at it. unless u have bn involved in racing or any other animal sport for that matter, than please do not talk about things u niether understand or are knowledgable about, thanks! if you want to take a side and make a stand then do your research
MidnightContender101 , you see every horse has a dream as a foal. It may be a wacky dream but it is still a dream. And when they are put on the racetrack it is not always a good feeling but like i said it is still a feeling. And sometimes the horses when they race they live up to be someone, and the horses went along with taking the risks of the racetrack. Like Barbaro Responded to his training which showed he had the potental to be a racehorse. But others are somewhere else doing somthing else
@MidnightContender101 Um no. They should of caught that at the beginning of the race before he even went into the chute. It's the owners false so the jockeys to. banned no better taken care of yes.
@MidnightContender101 this didnt happen because he was racing, it could have happened at any time in any horse related sport. the jockey did so well to pull him up quickly, the injury could have been a lot worse if barbaro had kept running. please stop blaming racing.
@MidnightContender101 I think that would be just ridiculous. Horse racing is a beautiful sport, not because of the gambling, or the alcohol, but look at what these absolutely incredible animals can do. I mean, their strides, their muscles, just gorgeous. These horses live and breathe to run, running is their absolute life, many Thoroughbreds would be depressed and, in a sense, purposeless if they didn't have racing.
@speckled5 Sure, there are many tragedies in the sport, but what sport doesn't? The real problem is the way they're breeding these horses, I mean, look at the horses from the 70's, they were very lean and muscular, the horses today have very small muscles. It's very sad, but it happens, banning it is not the answer. Racing organizations are doing all they can to ensure the safety of these horses and steps are being taken to a better racing society.
he actually was euthanized. after several surgeries on two legs with laminitis they realized he could not be saved. and they believe he was actually injured from wrapping his leg up with another horse after he got bumped during the race, not wn he broke out of the starting gate
that could be true but horses only break out of the starting gate if they're spooked or something is wrong. I have the barbaro breyer and there is a like white mark where he broke his leg
nice video! i saw your other video it was good too! i miss barbaro so much he was the best horse in the world and ill never forget him! he will be in my heart forever!
A devestating video. Well done. As for putting him down on the track, I agree, in hindsight it would have been kinder perhaps, but the thing is, he tried hard to live, and we wanted so badly for him to live. However, there aren't too many sports stories crueler than a crippled racehorse, and his leg was a mess. Race horses often pay a terrible price for our love of their love of running.
So sad the jokey was very good about getting off the horse as soon as he could we will all miss barbaro;(

Why do racing horses have more breakdowns than wild horses??
Is it because of interbreeding??

@4444Cipher its because there raced so young by 2 and start training at 1 (ride training)
