I love them, but those Chinese or Japanese commentators always talk too much! I can't understand them, and maybe that's a huge reason why it's irritating, but every time! On and on and on! I mean dang, Shut Up! LOL No one could beat Kwan that night, that was arguably one of her top 5 most iconic performances, and i love Yuka, but Nicole should've been higher!
neither Kwan nor Sato could have pulled off this performance w/the same caliber as Nicole, they just don't have that 'it' quality for this genre of music, i personally think Nicole should have placed higher, but that's just me
Kwan's AP program at this event was magical, so I def understood her finishing 1st. I still disagree with Yuka placing 2nd over Nicole here. I also just happened to really love Nicole, so maybe I'm biased! :)
Yuka def. deserved 2nd over Bobek. Nicole's AP is obviously an exhibition piece -- a lot of posing, hardly any tech content.
Yuka was able to blend beautiful expression with the upper body, flowing from one element to the next with difficult transitions/footwork and gorgeous edges! Kwan's "EoE" & Yuka's "Hat Full of Stars" were the highlights of that night.
Kwan and Sato both had more actual choreography. This program had too much posing and stopping in one place. Her jumps were harder than Sato, and bigger than Kwan or Sato, but the landings were shaky and the triple lutz was a monstrous flutz. While she has speed her skating skills and edge quality are inferior to those two as well. It was very entertaining but there was valid reason to place it only 3rd.
